well?.... whats happened?,. no its not another saturdays bashing thread... just wondering why 'work' is languishing in the lower reaches of the charts (apart from the obvious 'its crap') lol. many were expecting it to be their first #1, but that was never on the cards.

is it a sign that their bubble has burst? or is it just a one off p*** poor track that no one likes? (i believe it was released 3 weeks ago).

Yes it is.

Who was expecting it to be #1? It underperformed for sure but I don't know many who thought it would go to #1.

Because of the following;

Released about 3 months too late.

Not a very good song.

Be fair it is the 5th single, I think as well it came a bit too long after Just Can't Get Enough either that or the public need a break from them.

Complete bashing thread lol!

As if it was going to get #1.

5th single release from album - no way at all!

Plus not making excuses but it would have been top 20 without the MJ tracks.

I may have said #1 a few times but that was because i was loving the track so much those times that i became a bit deluded.

I think if it sells more than ITIL than it has done a good job.

I really think the vocals are a reason too. Too many ad-libs (and not good ones like in Up and Issues) that can turn people off and get really annoying fast. Doesn't have much repeat-listen value.

I think this is more appropriate for the chart forum really.

I knew people were dreaming when they said it was contending for #1, but I thought it'd do better than it did. It's like the 5th single from the album which has sold quite well so it doesn't really matter, but I'd say this is their second best behind 'Up'.

As people have said, it's their 5th release, and most people who likes The Saturdays have definitely got the album so it's just okay.
I love the song, it was released far too late

There is this, it would have been #17 otherwise which is slightly better, and the single's overall sales so far aren't too shabby.

 now i like that, a 'fan' who is honest. fair play...

I still think it would have done a lot better if it was released late May/early June though especially as they did their first promo for it the day after comic relief.
I thought it's a predict thread at first :heehee:

I'm still gobsmacked at that.

I know they probably just wanted the exposure of performing on SNT but they could have performed JCGE.

performing Work was so bloody stupid.

:puke2: at this thread

It was a 5th single from a relatively high selling album! Of course it was gonna struggle to go top 20!

#1? No one with braincells was predicting that anyway.

In fact, id go as far to say that a peak of #22 was fairly good.

To be fair, it wasn't the fifth single as "Just Can't Get Enough" wasn't on the album. Still, fourth singles without any sort of re-release are quite rare these days. Usually an album campaign will go Big single -> Album -> Decent sized single -> Smaller hit -> End of campaign/re-release album these days.

The first three Saturdays singles did well because the album got off to a really poor start and they released two songs before the album, meaning not so many people had the album by the time "Issues" came out, allowing it to be big hit. But then we got JCGE (which somehow boosted their album sales) so by the time we got to "Work" more people had the album and had less reason to buy the single. "Work" has subsequently been a smaller hit.

Alesha Dixon had a similar era, the first single didn't really sell the album which allowed "Breathe Slow" to become just as big/bigger than the previous hit and that sold the album. Then "Let's Get Excited" came along and missed the top 10, partly because the album had now sold fairly well, partly because it was a weaker song. Of course you've got exceptions like Beyoncé and Lady GaGa who have, so far, had three huge singles and a successful album.

^^ ooo low blow

For the post above the one above mine.

JGCE boosted album sales because the album was reissued to include it :)
