I find it really hard to rank them..

I really dislike Eccleston's doctor, but him and Rose is good, series 2 is brilliant, Series 3.. I like the stories but the Doctor/Companion relationship is crap because Martha is abysmal, Seres 4 other way around... brilliant Doctor/Donna relationship but apart from the odd few not the best stories, and season 5 started slowly but became brilliant, Amy Pond is a true hero.

Excellent end to the series which thankfully didn't involve the usual hordes of enemies and the proverbial kitchen sink but instead concentrated on a great script, strong story and excellent characters without the need for too many effects and monsters everywhere. It just seemed a lot more... thoughtful and intelligent than the recent finales.

Now if we can just arrange for the Ice Warriors to show up sometime I'll be happy

Oh and David who...?

Blasphemer. Eccleston was/is great. Piper was appalling

Ha it just shows the broad range of opinions.

I cringe watching Ecclestone now. Love Billie and David together in S2. S4 Billie was just strange. Loved Martha at times. Think she was better when she popped up in S4 and Torchwood. Donna !

It's very tough to rank the series of JamesP says but overall S5 pips S4 for me.

Ooh yessss, bring back the icccce warriorssss

On the whole, a good season finale. Not the best one the new series has provided, and perhaps not quite up to the level of brilliance of the last episode but still a nice strong finale to a relatively allright series. I would have liked to have seen more of the alliance but tying up the loose ends was done well as was not explaining everything.

On the whole it's been a good series but it's had it's weak moments. Karen Gillan has been brilliant through the run and Matt Smith in these last few episodes has fianlly come into his own. It started off fairly absymal but improved as it continued with only a few blips along the way (namely James Corden).

I can't really rank them but the second series David Tennant with Billie Piper is the best, Season 1 comes close second, I rate Season 5 as the worst. The Kylie special I truly love

I just don't find the episodes that dark no more with David Tennant gave the series that dark element, it seems they have been tone down for the younger generation

And bring back the Ice Warriors.

Well, a very underwhelming end to an underwhelming series. Easily the most disappointing Series Finale of its 21st revival. Started out well, but descended into schmaltz which is very dangerous unless you are Richard Curtis.

Moffat's scripts may be great at dotting the i's and crossing the t's that RTD's failed to manage, but time and time again his directing fails to leave me emotionally involved as if I'm watching a rollercoaster instead of being on it.

Whilst watching Christopher Eccleston's tour de force performance as John Lennon on BBC4's drama Lennon Naked this week is a timely reminder that for all Matt Smith's strengths he lacks the acting charisma & gravitas that his two predecessors had with room to spare.

Whilst this series has not quite been the "Skins in Space" disaster I had feared, I have to fully agree with Stephen Fry's analysis that this series of this show has targeted a younger audience for this series, and unsurprisingly the ratings have suffered accordingly as it has been the 35+ audience which have stopped tuning in the most.

5/10

Moffat didn't direct any of the series.

series rank for me is,

S2

S3

S5

S1

S4

the fact that I loved S4 shows what I thought of all of them.

I thought this last episode was pretty incredible the twists were all quite thought provoking and more importantly it's left me wanting more, I've already got ideas as to what the story line for the next series will be.

LOVED it. I must admit it was slightly underwhelming comparing to the previous episode. I was disappointed with Rory opening the unopenable Pandorica with the push of a button, and dead Amy turning up alive almost instantly, but I loved the little notes and clues left throughout the series which were (almost) all rounded up. I like the hints from River about his future too, and I think I like her again. I LOVE that the Doctor's assistant is a married woman for a change too!

Overall, one of the best finales - beating Series 4 and Series 1 I'd say but falling short of 2 and 3.

I liked it a lot but it could be better.

S04

S02

S05

S03

S01

for me

I cannot wait for the special and series 6, which I'm sure River will be in it again :)

Quick bit on series 6:

Two arcs:

The Silence and who is River Song

Direct from SM on Confidential :)

I was disappointed with Rory opening the unopenable Pandorica with the push of a button,

It's a prison. It's supposed to be difficult to open from the inside.

Ooh yessss, bring back the icccce warriorssss

:D My faves. I even had to go and buy one of those toys of them. For me.

surprisingly...i fully agree, (for saying we often disagree on this).

loved the first half... totally  the second half... and unlike you lot i dont like river song, how come she knows the future but the dr doesnt?

i reckon they should have left him in the box.

and unlike you lot i dont like river song, how come she knows the future but the dr doesnt?

Because she's largely from The Doctors future. Moffat's clearly having fun playing around with personal timelines.

I'm undecided on Song, liked her in the library, hated her in the Byzantium story, liked her in this one.

Jumping on the bandwagon:

1. Series 2

2. Series 1

3. Series 4

4. Series 3

5. Series 5

This series has been too kiddified for my liking, lacking the darkness, menace & roller-coaster emotional journey that RTD productions compared to Moffat's production.

Series 2 > Series 5 > Series 1 > Series 4 > Series 3

Ahhh this was a perfect finale!

Same for me in that order, at least we both agree on something, with the dark element mind you they had to do that due to the recession. The BBC run out of money to make it better and couldn't afford to keep David Tennant.

I remember the Tom Baker season it drew a lot of fans to the series, Colin Baker took over, and after that it just went all horribly wrong. It feels like after David Tennant is heading in the same direction.

i think River will end up being evil in the doctors future/her past. It seems she's getting more ruthless as time goes on. I'm really interested in where 'The Silence' will come into it. I think the next season will be a lot darker.
