Minogue 'hoping for Housewives role' Friday, July 17 2009, 16:45 BST By Daniel Kilkelly, Entertainment Reporter WENN X Factor judge Dannii Minogue is hoping to land roles in Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty, it has been claimed. The Aussie singer recently flew out to Los Angeles for a week of talks with "the best from TV and film", reports suggest. A source has now told the Daily Star: "She's very excited about breaking America. Dannii would love to get a role in one of their top shows, especially Desperate Housewives or even Ugly Betty. "Agents know she is a popstar but thanks to YouTube, they've seen her on X Factor, Australia's Got Talent and her days on Home And Away." It is believed that Minogue's plans for international success are being supported by her fellow X Factor panellist Cheryl Cole, who is also currently in LA. An insider recently said: "They are planning to meet for a coffee over there to swap notes." Minogue previously confirmed that she feels "confident" about her chances in the US. ================================================================================ Willoughby feared Minogue would quit Tuesday, July 14 2009, 14:22 BST By Daniel Kilkelly, Entertainment Reporter Rex Features Holly Willoughby has admitted that she expected Dannii Minogue to quit The X Factor this year. The 28-year-old Xtra Factor host revealed that she was glad to be proven wrong when Minogue signed up for the sixth series in June. Aussie popstar Dannii had earlier indicated that she was considering leaving the show because she did not want to be parted from lover Kris Smith, who has modelling commitments in Melbourne. Speaking to New! magazine, Willoughby commented: "It's good Dannii Minogue is back. I didn't think that she would sign up to return. I'm just pleased the old gang is back together." The presenter also backed Simon Cowell's decision to introduce live audiences to the auditions for the first time. She insisted: "Simon knows what he is doing. He's been around long enough to know what works, we should trust him." The X Factor is expected to return to ITV1 next month. ================================================================================= Cole, Minogue 'forming close friendship' Tuesday, July 14 2009, 15:52 BST By David Balls, Music Reporter Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue have reportedly formed a close friendship during the audition stages for the latest X Factor series. The pair, who have previously been subject to reports of infighting on the ITV1 show, are said to have finally put past differences behind them. "Things have totally changed with Cheryl and Dannii, you can't keep them apart at the auditions - they love gossiping and chatting about their hair and clothes," an X Factor insider told Heat. "They've gone from being merely co-workers to becoming mates." According to reports, Cole offered her support to Minogue during the final stages of the last series. "Things started to thaw between the girls at the end of the live shows last year, after Cheryl saw what a bad time Dannii was having with Louis," the source added. "Cheryl didn't like seeing her Dannii upset and started to go into the dressing room a bit more to say hi. But she really stepped things up when she phoned Dannii to congratulate her on signing the new contract and they had a nice chat. "Dannii really appreciated her calling, and it meant that when they saw each other at the first audition in Glasgow, things were so much easier than before." The insider added: "Before each audition, they were swapping texts about what they were planning to wear, so they didn't clash. They've also had a giggle over some of the stories in the press - they've really bonded over it." Minogue reportedly treated Cole to a £2,000 Yves Saint Laurent ring as a birthday present earlier this month.
