Yeah, it has somewhat nothing to do with the video.

Unless I'm too young to understand it. :P

I much prefer to listen to the song only, it's much better.

Oh come on, it wasn't any worse than an average Ken Russell film.....

So pretending to be angel killers then eating said angel is not repulsive in any way.

And I don't even practise any kind of religion abd I found it repugnant.

And pretending to be some kind of satannic overlord is not drivel?

This is schoolboy fantasy drivel and it is repulsive. Just a typical death metal cliche and one of the reasons I never listened to Death Metal in the first place.

It's cliche, and it's cheap and nasty, sure, but I'm not going to get all fake-moralistic or "outraged from Tunbridge Wells" about it, it just looks silly, not particularly offensive.... Like I say, I take it you've never seen a Ken Russell film (say, The Devils, for example...), or one of those silly, ridiculous 70s Continental European, soft porny "Nunsploitation" films that directors such as Jess Franco or Jean Rollin made..... Mate, this video was more hilariously bad than a Cradle of Filth vid, or a Satanic Sluts show.... This is water off a duck's back to me tbh....

Best thing to do, ignore the video's existence, and just listen to the album....

Hmm... that's what basically death metal is about. Satanic, gory and brutal; music-wise, lyrics-wise and vocals-wise. That's the very culture of death metal bands.

BTW, pretending to be a overlord or something else is not drivel IMO. It's the video itself, so silly to watch.

Look if I find something offensive then I will say so.

It's $h!t and let's leave it at that.

"Offended from Tunbridge Wells" indeed!

And no I have never seen The Devils. I have seen other films by Ken Russell with them being a mix of the good (Gothic) and the utter $h!te (Lair of the White Worm).

Maybe I am over-reacting but this is such utter dreck. And I will still be listening to the album.

BTW Grimly, good call about Emperor - they sound really interesting

And that is precisely why I have never been into Death Metal. Same reason as I have never been into Christian Metal.

Both proselytise about their respective beliefs and both are religions.

I don't need either of them.

From interviews it seems that Nergal wanted to avoid being labelled as a satanist and was more anti-religion than anything else.

I think he has shot himself in the foot here.

And pretending to be a (satannic) overlord is f***ing pretentious drivel.

It's funny because the lyrics are actually quite interesting even though they are about some dark subject matter.

And in terms of their music and lyrics are certainly one of the most sophisticated of their genre, they really put thought into what they did.... Honestly, "Prometheus" in particular is just immense, although other albums of theirs are good too.... Unfortunately, the band split because Guitarist Samoth was more interested in straight-forward aggression, and guitarist/vocalist Ihsahn was more interested in taking a more avant garde approach to Extreme/Black Metal.... 'Prometheus' is entirely written by Ihsahn.... Mortiis used to play bass guitar for Emperor as well....

Samoth and drummer Trym went on to form Zyklon, who in terms of sheer brute force are actually pretty fukkin' compelling in many ways, Ihsahn went on to form Peccatum, who are certainly a more difficult listen in terms of them being more avant garde, a band you have to stick at....
