I can't tolerate listening to her voice but i take your word for it.

However, if she thought of herself as an artist who is real blah blah blah, why does she use autotune full stop?

She doesn't use autotune when performing live. In fact I'd say she is a pretty damn good singer.

Lady Gaga - Paparazzi (acoustic version)

Lady GaGa - Poker Face (acoustic version)

Midway State ft Lady GaGa - Don't Give Up (Canadian single)

Writer Peter Gabriel has praised Lady GaGa's vocal on this cover saying "this is the first time this song has been covered where the female vocalist has got close to Kate's (Bush) original..."

At the age of seventeen, she gained early admission to the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied music. She improved her songwriting skills by composing essays and analytical papers focusing on topics such as art, religion and socio-political order.

Whilst she has made it pretty clear in interviews that Lady GaGa (The Fame) is a character/persona in the spirit of the personas (Hence that very interesting Jonathan Ross interview, when JR said that she was perfectly normal before and after the show was recorded, but put on that strange persona for effect during the interview) that David Bowie & Peter Gabriel (Genesis) adopted in the 1970s for their album/tours.

No doubt about it, GaGa is awesome in many ways :D Noone can possibly deny she can sing

but EVA people. EVA now :P

Ok, i'm going to wrap it up.

I don't agree with some of the things Gaga does. But that's just me and my morals. Maybe i was slightly hard on her but she seems to lack morals, and it's clear judging by this post that i'm strong on morals.

The one thing i'll praise her for is Paparazzi. Whether it was her idea or someone elses, the concept of the song and video is close to phenomenal. But i'm not ever going to be a crazy Gaga fan like some of you are.

Also to the clearly small-minded pathetic excuse of a human-being who called me a moron, i'll say go away, grow up and widen your mind

Silly Kath, she is not more appealing and all-round talented than they will ever be!

What is her talent. Ok she can write a few good lyrics here and there but her gimmick or selling point is mainly down to her image. So why doesn't she be a songwriter or a fashion designer? Her singing is not that great (probably why she relies on autotune).

She can write a few good lyrics? I'm not jumping on the boat but Lady GaGa is a fantastic songwriter. If you listen to some of the songs she's written for herself and other artists you'll see that you're just stabbing in the dark as opposed to speaking fact. I can back this up further when you say she "relies on auto tune". I'm guessing you've never actually listened to her album? The only song in which she uses a lot of auto tune is 'Poker Face' and if you want solid evidence, have a listen to 'Second Time Around' (theo's signature).

It seems to me that you just don't like the girl and fair enough, you're entitled to your views but you seem to take a slap at her everytime she's brought up. I despise Christina Aguilera and the way that people claim Britney Spears and Lady GaGa copy her but hey, I never slag her off.

Another thing, you say her singing isn't that good? I'm gonna say that it's because her voice is so overworked at the moment. She's been working non-stop doing live shows for the past eight months and her voice is totally deteriorating. Even in interviews it constantly sounds like she has a sore throat. If you listen to some of her live singing from about six months ago you'll see she has bare talent. She needs some time off to be blunt. And at least she has the guts to sing live, the same can't be said for many pop artists nowadays.

Sorry to take this off-topic but I had to laugh at the claim that The Fame is any kind of conceptual album or even a fiftieth as important to music as anything early by Bowie or Madonna. It's a pop album steered by a multitude of talented producers. Gaga's a good writer but her main talent appears to be in business; realising that by wearing completely retarded outfits she'll be talked about and the new 'in' female popstar. And yeah, that's how it'll work in the short term, but in 18 months when nobody gives a crap about the fact that Gaga has rubbed herself over the Queen or bared her fanny in a music video, there'll BE no more buzz. Then she'll have to rely solely on the music, which means she'll need an album with significantly less filler than is present on The Fame.

You clearly have not listened to the album, as it is blatantly (to the point of criticism) the daughter of David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust ground breaking concept album from 1972. Hilariously, many music writers and members of the public heavily disliked David Bowie at the time for his overtly sexual act and shocking imagery, and his odd behaviour in interviews. Similarly, many confidently predicted he would be a one trick pony, as his album was overladen with gimmicks, and he would not be able to follow it up.

David Bowie - Time (live)

Of course at the beginning of 2000, the UK music industry ran a poll of music songwriters, producers, musicians, industry types and music critics to find the most influential British person of the 20th Century within the music industry. David Bowie finished first.

That is why Brian Eno (whom has produced several David Bowie albums) praised her for being "the first commercial pop artist to put the art form back into popular music since the mid 1980s"; and several older musicians from the 1970s, 1980s & 1990s and have praised her, because it is manifestively obvious that she is a real artist in the making. Not some pop svengalis puppet that most acts in that field of pop music have been in the last 20+ years.

Tbh i was judging her lyrics only on JD, PF, LoveGame, Eh Eh and Boys Boys Boys. Also, i don't dislike her i just have quite a few problems with her. If i have previously said 'i dislike her', then i'm sorry cos i meant i dislike her lack of self-respect and her point (i couldn't think of a more appropriate word). About the singing live, i'll definitely give her that. I say her voice isn't that great because i can only hear either the auto-tune effect or very limited vocals.

Ok well everyone else is on GaGa so wtf :kink:

I dont think she has a lack of self-respect at all.

Got 25 mins? Good.

Lady Gaga is great. People like the music, and love the image.

Eva is great. People will love the music, and will tire of the unoriginal image.

Don't even know if that's the point... but this thread is losing all clarity so I may as well join in :)

You clearly have not listened to the album

You 'blatantly' aren't qualified to tell me that. A number of people on this forum can vouch for the fact that I listened to The Fame daily for weeks but literally half of it is pure filler! 'Again Again', 'Brown Eyes', 'Summerboy', 'Starstruck', 'Disco Heaven', 'Paper Gangsta'. Those songs are either really dull or just a mess. She should've had the conviction to make an album filled from start to end with brilliant electropop along the lines of the singles, 'Boys Boys Boys', 'Money Honey' etc. It's a cop-out.

I love Paper Gangster and Starstruck, definitely album highlights for me. But yeah, there are many fillers, but there are also many songs on the album.

Two of my favourites

For me the only ones I think are filler are Brown Eyes and Again Again.

Not bad going IMO for a debut.

How about Buzzjack meets Eva Simons :heehee:

Ergh I know. Promised it by the end of "the week". The week came and went and Pixie let me down :drama:

Already working on Eva.

Try and get it going properly after my exams.

Bev Knight still to come for sure too :P

Yeah, I remember Jark hyping over Paparazzi at a stage but he self-admittingly isn't the biggest fan of GaGa's personality on the sideline to her music (which is a shame because the more GaGa loons the better :P). The songs you've pointed out as fillers are probably the least-electro on the whole album, they're all acoustic or ballads or very retro which is why I think they made the album to show another side to GaGa and IMO that other side of her is pretty damn good, not as good as her dance or electro songs but certainly not worthy of the title of being fillers. .when they reflect everything GaGa and her immense talent is about.

If all songs on the album focused on an artist's strong-point then it's be a complete mess of half-filler, where The Fame is extremely varied for the obvious reason of showing that there is more to GaGa than just poker faces and dance anthems

I don't know how people can say "Again Again" or "Summerboy" are filler. They're not electro pop, but they're both brilliant tracks, slow burners, but amazing (especially the former).
'Eh Eh' is a brilliant, infectious summer number which doesn't rely on an electronic dance beat, but those two are just exceptionally boring to me :heehee:
Gaga is so slutty and bizarre, it'll eventually bite her in the ass. Eva seems a bit more sanitized and appears to be "normal", so it should work in her favour.

What gives you that impression!?!?!?!?

What gives you that impression!?!?!?!?

Her videos and interviews on YouTube and MySpace, her comments on Twitter, and general vibe.

Personality-wise, I say she come off closer to Rihanna than Lady Gaga.

Infectious song, but I'm not totally convinced (yet) it'll spend multiple weeks at #1. If it is supposively being released in less than 2 weeks, the song has zero airplay and promotion to chart that high, despite the views of the video. Therefore, I'll say Top 5 easily.

Oh, and having 1 Lady GaGa is plenty thank you!
