August 3, 200915 yr Yes but that was a second single after the huge Just Dance and so there was definite momentum. And by the time The Fame was out a lot of people had already heard Poker Face. Thats my point. Poker Face was a second single, people had the album already, weeks of downloading yet still went #1. I doubt a few early weeks of downloads will do Eva much harm. Could be wrong obviously but I cant see it being a big deal.
August 3, 200915 yr I think it's because I don't think she will be anywhere near as big as Lady GaGa Fair enough. I love GaGa and JD but personally think this song and video is a better debut than JD. But all depends on what else Eva has to offer. So until then none of us know for sure.
August 3, 200915 yr Eva's mohawk is miles better than Rihanna's. And who is Lady GaGa a clone of? No, it's more attention-seeking and space-hogging than Rihanna's Rihanna's looks more natural anyway but Eva tries to do the same annoying thing Gaga seems to do. Lady Gaga is a clone, well she copies Madonna, Janet Jackson and Christina Aguilera (yes, she has been accused of stealing Gaga's look but she did not get inspired by that $l*t, she got inspired by a comic superhero :))

Lets drop the "clone" rubbish. And space-hogging? Yes the BFG is apparently very pissed off Eva's hair is in his way now! :P

Yet you dislike an artist who writes their own compositions, is responsible for their own visual imagery, and has been praised by the likes of Madonna, David Bowie, Deborah Harry (Blondie), Cyndi Lauper, John Lydon, Brian Eno, Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, Robert Smith (The Cure), etc; for releasing an album that many serious music critics have correctly hailed the female 2000s equivalent of David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust concept album. Still funny how the likes of Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh and members of Westlife has criticised her isn't it. Still if you had the slightest knowledge of music, or more to the point visual art, you would know that she is most influenced by Grace Jones, David Bowie, Prince and Blondie.

Well i'm not a keen follower of her and i have lots of knowledge about art, creativity AND music fyi. You make me laugh by how you stereotype people who come from talent shows although you probably like Little Boots. The likes of SW, LL and AB have co-writing credits and Leona plays piano and guitar. Only because they came from a talent show, it doesn't mean they are not creative. But maybe you are just narrow-minded and/or naive. Lady Gaga has had so much hype surrounding her and that is one of the reasons i'm not fond of her. And the reason behind her success is mainly down to RedOne's productions and her slutty outfits. You must really be a suck-up to Lady Gaga if you think her stripping off and saying to a crowd "Do you want to see my v****a?" is artistry because i call it unsexy, tacky and slutty. I've also realised many critics buy into the hype which might have contributed to her critical success. Katy Perry seems shy, humble, mellow and tolerable when i compare her to Lady Gaga. I personally think it is quite depressing how you look down on Simon Cowell (only cos he produces talent shows) but look up to the likes of her. But i'm never one to follow the crowd, it's more rewarding being an individual.
August 3, 200915 yr It'll probably be number one, it's alright but it's already way overhyped. Nothing on 'Just Dance'.

But i'm never one to follow the crowd, it's more rewarding being an individual. Number one, GaGa's success is hardly all on RedOne, RedOne works with an uncountable number artists and most of them turn out as flops where GaGa became a worldwide phenomenon. GaGa's music isn't just all RedOne, she sings, composes, writes and performs her songs, and with her ambition she'd probably come out with an album solely produced by her. Just Dance is co-produced by GaGa as well. So what your saying is like saying Leona is all Ryan Tedder when she isn't. . GaGa is not a clone of anyone, she is probably the most original new artist to come out this whole entire decade. And so what if she shows her wild personality, its part of her appeal and why her fans adore her because she is herself and isn't going to fake some "i'm perfect act" when she can be her rebellious self and challenge social norms. Nobody wears outfits like she does which makes her appeal that much more exciting. Where nobody cares what Leon Jackson or Leona wears because it's all about how they sing, where GaGa is like a complete culture on its own. The majority of artists are dull with no personality, and the likes of Lady GaGa and Katy Perry have taken advantage of this and became huge as result with their immense talent as another contributing factor. GaGa isn't some Simon Cowell-made barbie, she has the full package. It took her a $h!t load of time before she became huge and that again shows her strength, she may not have the voice of Leona Lewis or whatever X factor winner but she is certainly much more appealing and all-round talented than any of them will ever be

I personally think it is quite depressing how you look down on Simon Cowell (only cos he produces talent shows) but look up to the likes of her. But i'm never one to follow the crowd, it's more rewarding being an individual. I was aware of Lady GaGa long before she released her debut album back in 2008. In 2007 she played Lollapalooza 2007 at the insistance of Cyndi Lauper and the Scissor Sisters which garnered significant media attention. This was before she signed with Akon's Konvict record label, an offshoot of Interscope. Whilst in 2008 she attracted significant UK media attention after playing the Meltdown Royal Festival curated by Massive Attack. Whilst previously she has been a long time overtime success as she has written for the likes of pop bimbos Britney Spears, NKOTB & the PCDs. As for Simon Cowell. To quote John Lydon & Steven Patrick Morrissey he is "the musical satan" "responsible for everything wrong with the world of music today". Still if you admire someone who inflicted these pop classics on the world: f5UlB4Yw1wQ Robson & Jerome - Unchained Melody EFpAD36d48o WWF Superstars - Slam Jam 1wyW7uaXV8E Teletubbies - Teletubbies Say 'Eh Oh! L8XZ7B3jWC0 Mighty Morphin' Music Video - Go Go Power Rangers Westlife - Fool Again After all he has proven what a master he is in the world of music for spotting talent, and great songs. Which is why I have hated him a long long time before he appeared on Pop Idol. After all he had first refusal of the song "Baby, One More Time" for his BMG boyband 5ive, and passed on the song. As head of BMG he had an option to sign all the members of Take That (after the band split) on solo deals, and passed on signing Robbie Williams. Whilst he dropped Kylie Minogue from BMG's Deconstruction offshoot saying that she should return to acting, and is too old to be a popstar (and that was a decade ago), before her triumphant return to the charts with EMI in the 2000s. But worst of the lot he turned down signing the Spice Girls. Litle wonder in his autobiography he revealed that he thought "The Beatles were overrated" and were "not as good as Abba or Queen". Whilst he revealed his two least favourite British artists of all time were David Bowie and Kate Bush (whom are regarded by UK music critics as the greatest male and female solo artists this country has ever produced) as "I don't see why music critics rate them so highly they just leave me cold. I find their music and videos pretentious and boring." As for calling me narrow minded and naive, I suggest you have a look at my Personal Chart as it is rather diverse musically, as I have been following and buying music (over 1100 albums) since 1980. I come from a school of thought where by manufactured pop is perfectly acceptable if it is done well (60s Detroit Motown, Phil Spector's Wall of Sound, Chinn & Chapman, Rodgers & Edwards (The Chic Corporation), Jam & Lewis .... through to Timbaland/Danja and Xenomania today. Which is why the likes of I Heard It Through The Grapevine, I Want You Back, Upside Down, Can't Get You Out Of My Head, Say It Right & Biology are as valid with the best pop music created by singer songwriter artists and groups of all time. But when it is musical dreck of the lowest common denominator often resembling bad karaoke (for example most of Stock Aitken & Waterman output & Steve Mac) then it is bland vile rubbish that is very offensive to my ears.
August 3, 200915 yr Silly Kath, she is not more appealing and all-round talented than they will ever be! What is her talent. Ok she can write a few good lyrics here and there but her gimmick or selling point is mainly down to her image. So why doesn't she be a songwriter or a fashion designer? Her singing is not that great (probably why she relies on autotune). Obviously i'm in the minority here but i'm far from ashamed of that. I just pity all the people who worship the ground Gaga walks on because she is nothing special. And that MJ comparison that has been thrown around a bit in the press is a f*cking insult to him. Her music is as shallow as a puddle (maybe more).
August 3, 200915 yr Lady GaGa doesn't rely on autotune, it's just she uses it on a few songs, for example, go to the song in my signature, by Lady GaGa, and I'm sure you won't hear autotune there
August 3, 200915 yr Thisispop, i agree SC has made stupid mistakes in the past but after all he is a manager who is there for marketting and business aspects. However, i totally agree with him about Gaga. She is totally overrated but, as i said, that is probably the main reason i dislike her. You say SC has been called the "musical satan" and "everything that is wrong..." but i think the like of Gaga, Flo Rida and PCD are. Someone i would consider a true underrated artist who isn't attention-seeking is Christina Aguilera who has also got one of the best voices in the world. People could call her a $l*t i guess for Dirrty but she has explained the concept. What is Gaga's reason for that comment she made about her vagina? Also thisispop, i'm slightly offended that you made that sarcy comment about my knowledge of creativity when i consider myself a decent artist and songwriter. And i'm afraid i consider my lyrics and concepts more deep than Gaga's and i'm 15!

However, if she thought of herself as an artist who is real blah blah blah, why does she use autotune full stop?
August 3, 200915 yr I can't tolerate listening to her voice but i take your word for it. However, if she thought of herself as an artist who is real blah blah blah, why does she use autotune full stop? Why should she? Anyway clearly you don't like her. Fine. Wrap it up.
August 3, 200915 yr LOL at the claim that Rihanna is original. Everything about her is copied from other artists and her style is nothing more than what's currently edgy. SIX is obviously a moron judging by its other replies as well. fail.
August 3, 200915 yr Sorry to take this off-topic but I had to laugh at the claim that The Fame is any kind of conceptual album or even a fiftieth as important to music as anything early by Bowie or Madonna. It's a pop album steered by a multitude of talented producers. Gaga's a good writer but her main talent appears to be in business; realising that by wearing completely retarded outfits she'll be talked about and the new 'in' female popstar. And yeah, that's how it'll work in the short term, but in 18 months when nobody gives a crap about the fact that Gaga has rubbed herself over the Queen or bared her fanny in a music video, there'll BE no more buzz. Then she'll have to rely solely on the music, which means she'll need an album with significantly less filler than is present on The Fame.
