which version?

Hmmm... I got CS2 on our laptop. I guess that explains why I can't make good stuff like PsYcHo's. :heehee:

one up from me, i havent been arsed to upgrade from cs3 yet, although we use cs3 at college, so i may just stay on cs3 unless my college upgrades (i do Graphics A level so Photoshop is highly used lol).

and oh my this has got off topic.

yeah, it has, but oh well

I used CS3 alot, CS4 isnt much different, CS2 is still amazing xD

The version you are using is no excuse for how your images turn out xD

LOL, yes, this has gone off-topic now.

Back to Maiden, since I'm not keen on IM, which album should I listen to first? I tried 'A Matter of Life and Death', it sounds like an album that only hardcore fans can appreciate or something.

Anything for starters?

just get the greatest hits tbh 'Edward The Great'

A matter of life and death is such a cool album xD

I reccommend either 'Live after Death' or 'A real dead one'

'The Number of the Beast' is a great album.

hmmm, i dunno, number of the beast is a great song, but the album isnt that good, Live after Death is the perfect one to get into

'The Longest Day', 'The Trooper', or "Number of the beast' are the songs that will get you into IM, if you dont like any of them, leave this topic in shame xD

LOL. Those are the three that got me into IM a bit. That's why I'm asking where to start.

I guess I have to start off with albums which has my faved tunes in it.

Surely, that is not impossible. LOL

your fav tunes being 'The Longest Day', 'The Trooper' and "Number of the beast' ?

In that case, Live after death or a matter of life and death have those in

which you cant in most heavy metal songs (most dont even HAVE words, its just screaming xD),

that's not true... They have words, you just have to work a bit at hearing them... If you look at the Behemoth thread for example, really good lyrics, but obviously if they're growled you cant hear them as such, so you have to read the lyrics along with the music the first few times of listening and then it sticks usually....

Cradle of Filth are another - Dani writes just THE most demented Byron/Shelley/De Sade-inspired lyrics, but you certainly cant hear them in the song half the time, you have to read the lyric sheets.....

thats not good, a good singer should be able to express the words cleary and show the mood of the song at the same time

I lied, the difference between CS3 and CS4 is greater than any update every made from adobe, the smart resizing control, the interface, the box resizing method, its amazing xD

I'm not sure it necessarily matters that a Metal singer has to be technically "good", I think that growled vocals suit Extreme/Death/Black Metal, because those vocal stylings do put across the mood of the song (Tom G Warrior, Celtic Frost; Angela Gossow, Arch Enemy; Ihsahn, Emperor). It really depends on the style of Metal you're talking about... You cant really expect a band like Emperor to have the same sort of vocal styles as Axl Rose or David Coverdale....

Of course you get some technically excellent singers in Rock/Metal - Maynard from Tool, Matt Bellamy from Muse, Cristina from Lacuna Coil, Sharon from Within Temptation... And then you get someone like Mikael Ackerfeldt from Opeth who can do both - sing really lovely harmonies and then just launch into an almighty rrrrrroaaaarrrrrrrr straight from the pits of hell....

Well, to get back on topic, you can tell your "friends" who think that Maiden are an "emo" band that they're utterly retarded and know fukk all about proper Music..... And this is from someone who's been listening to Metal/Rock for over 20 years of his life.... I mean, Maiden, emo, really... deary me.....

Seeing as how you're only 12/13, it'll take a while before you can really appreciate the likes of Emperor or Behemoth....... Their stuff can be pretty intense and intimidating.....

EDIT: I take back what i said, i can make better music and sing better than the likes of behemoth, and i aint a good singer
