Harris song 'rejected by The Saturdays'

Calvin Harris has revealed that he originally wrote Dizzee Rascal's new single 'Holiday' for The Saturdays.

The 'Ready For The Weekend' star offered the song to Rascal last year after it was first rejected by the 'Issues' singers.

"I wrote it for The Saturdays. But they didn't like it. Or their A&R guy didn't like it. But Dizzee liked it," he told The Independent. "It happens."

The Scottish producer insisted that his reputation had improved since pairing up with Rascal on their 2008 number one 'Dance Wiv Me'.

"The fact that the guy who did 'Acceptable in the 80s' did a record with Dizzee made me slightly more credible to the outsider," he said.

"So I guess from that slightly cynical marketing point of view, that was good."

'Holiday' is released on August 31.

I'll sleep well knowing their A&R guy didn't like it.

I want to shake this guys hand :)

Well thank god it wasn't Saturdays singing it because that would of been $h!ttttttttttt. :funky:
The song is awful, thank god they didn't accept it, I hate Calvin Harris!

Well its original source is The Independent and a direct quote from Calvin so I would say it is definitely true!

Just delighted it was turned down

LOL Holiday isnt that bad imo. I think its better suited to Dizzee anyway.

It is 100% true, I've heard Calvin say so! Not the whole track with Dizzee's words, just the main beats.

Holiday is pretty much song of the year for me, so I'd have loved to hear what the Sats would do with it but still

Oh dear get over it man...

Calvin Harris has reportedly taken a swipe at The Saturdays for turning down one of his songs.

According to The Mirror, the chart-topper originally offered the girlband his 'Ready For The Weekend' single but was rejected by the group.

The tabloid quotes him as saying: "The thing is, being the guy who makes music and sends it out to people, eventually someone is going to say no. I offered it to The Saturdays but they didn't want to use it. Obviously they didn't have the vision.

"I've heard the Saturdays aren't that great live. I see they haven't developed live Auto-Tune yet - it must be in the works."

Harris has previously revealed that The Saturdays also turned down his 'Holiday' track, which eventually went to Dizzee Rascal.

I wonder if he has seen them live? Thank god they turned his tripe down :D

The thing is it probably wasnt even the saturdays that turned his songs down, it was probably the record lable.

Also the saturdays can't sing live? Calvin should listen to his own live singing voice before crticising others

Probably never occured to Calvin that theres a good reason they turned the song down. Its just not that good....

Im sorry but cant sing live? Go and find any youtube video of them in decent quality and that theory can be proved wrong. They just can mime very well lol.

I bet you all would be frankly WANKING over the song had it been sung by Saturdays.

Both songs are amazing! Especially Holiday which is about to top the chart. Harris' music is of the best quality around. It's sad the band doesn't seem to understand it.

 Seconded.

+1 number one to Dizzee.

I like the song but it would be a bit weird for The Sats to sing it because of some of the lyrics in there..

EG: "Get your passport and your bikini, You need a holiday, come see me.."

the lyrics would have been different.

It's not that they don't understand it.

Having heard the lead single from the second album, I think it's pretty clear that the genre of 'Holiday' is not the direction they wanted to go in.

Holiday is amazing. Thank God the Saturdays didn't accept it. :/ Dizzee is infinitely more talented, IMO.
