I like your signature pic Spark...Robbie looks very young in that shot...I guess it's taken from his new video.... :)

I'm still not really feeling this one. I think it's a nice song, easy to listen, but I still fail to click with it.

I don't know... maybe the song is a bit too safe/repetitive. It may grow but I'm sure I'll never like it as much as the previous lead singles.

I will probably end up buying the album though, it's Robbie after all

At least it's being talked about...nothing worse than indifference <_<

I think Robbie himself is wary on this one but I would not want Robbie Williams any other way other than a risk taker & staying true to himself because if he tried to be something he was not then I would not be buying his records.

I like BODIES & if the rest of the album is half as good then I will be very happy indeed...

It sure is generating enough interest all over the place & I am thrilled that so many non-Robbie fans are taking time out of their day to have a go at him...I mean what are they worried about... <_<

the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same music

Think there might be someone there we know in that thread. Bless, the time some people appear to have on their hands to seemingly obsess over someone they dislike so strongly is quite extraordinary but also laughably sad

I have no issue with people not liking Rob or his music, but why do they always come accross as such spiteful, delusional individuals who lap up anything the craploids feed them. So naive it is hilarous. You have to just sympathise with them really

European Airplay Success For Robbie's 'Bodies'

By Andre Paine, London

Robbie Williams' comeback single "Bodies" (Virgin/EMI) is enjoying European-wide airplay on hundreds of stations, with heavy rotation in key territories.

The U.K. pop singer's track entered the U.K. Radio Airplay Chart, compiled by Nielsen Music Control, at No. 40 based on just two days' play for the week ending Sept. 5. It also entered national airplay charts at No. 49 in Denmark, No. 54 in Ireland, No. 61 in Spain and No. 68 in Sweden.

"Bodies" debuted on radio at 8am U.K. time on Sept. 5. The track is likely to appear in other territories' airplay charts this week. To date, the track has had 1,586 plays in four days across Europe.

The Virgin France station has had the track on heavy rotation, with 22 plays according to Nielsen Music Control. Stations in Germany - a major market for Williams - are also embracing the track, with top 40 station Big FM airing "Bodies" 17 times.

Commercial pop radio in the U.K. has also shown its early support for "Bodies," but the track has built much of its British audience via the two big BBC networks. National top 40 station BBC Radio 1 has played "Bodies" seven times, while national AC network BBC Radio 2 has aired it six times.

The single is the first from his new set, "Reality Killed the Video Star," which was produced by Trevor Horn. The album is out Nov. 9, following the Oct. 12 physical release of "Bodies" and the Oct. 11 digital release.

The album will roll out internationally around the U.K. release date, with a U.S. digital release due Nov. 10. According to his label, Williams has sold 55 million albums worldwide

Many different opinions we have around here, I personally like it, but I normally tend to like more other tracks of the albums, let´s hear it full!

And yeah it´s Robbie! :P

Great news. Bodies has now been A Listed on Radio 2 and moved to B-list on Radio 1 :cheer:

Robbie Williams: Bodies

Wednesday, 9 September 2009

Robbie Williams makes his long-awaited comeback later this year with an album released in November and his latest song, Bodies, regularly on the radio.

I'm not a massive fan of Robbie's music but there's no doubting that he's something of a cultural icon. His forthcoming album Reality Killed the Video Star is dominating the charts on future release charts. And to his credit, Bodies, his comeback single isn't safe: not a ballad, but a sound that will appeal to a slightly more adult audience.

There's no doubt that spirituality plays an important part in the track. It opens with Gregorian chant and ends with a gospel choir. And whilst the lyrics sometimes feel somewhat forced, there's some interesting mileage in considering their message.

One of the lyrics at the end of the track is 'Jesus didn't die for you / What do you want?' I happened to hear an interview with Robbie on the radio over the weekend and there's no doubt that in part this is an effort to attract headlines through shock. But I wonder if there's more going on in the song.

There are masses of spiritual references: not only to Jesus, but also to the Bodhi tree (where the Buddha apparently received his revelations). In the interview I heard, Robbie confessed that although he'd been raised a Roman Catholic, he no longer knew who to pray to. He joked that the previous night he'd prayed to the Archangel Michael because he liked the look of his muscles, and also intimated that he enjoyed reading atheist writings by Richard Dawkins.

And I wonder if that brings the hearer to the crux of the song. Robbie sings about 'bodies' ('Bodies in the Bodhi tree / bodies making chemistry / bodies on my family...). Yet the song seems to point to a conviction that humans are more than just bodies finding themselves in space and time at a particular point ('Praying for the rapture / Cause it's strange, getting stranger'). Perhaps above all, though, the song represents a fear that the need for Jesus is merely a psychological need that we all have: possibly the need to be accepted as we are ('All we've ever wanted is to look good naked / That someone can take it / God save me rejection from my rejection / I want perfection').

And so the song closes, with Robbie singing that 'Jesus didn't really die for you', whilst a gospel choir sings 'Jesus really died for you'. I wonder: is this an argument that is going on in Robbie's head? Is Jesus merely a projection of our needs?

Thanks to Gata at TRWS

Video just played on TMF :D It's rubbish

I don't know Scotty, I don't read that and think they didn't like "Bodies". I kind of liked them breaking the lyrics down like that. At least they're interested enough to get that deep into it!

And as for Josh, you can suck it! :P

This commennts on this YT video are hilarious...especially the ones that find temselves actually liking the track & not wanting to like it...I think Robbie has generated a whole new audience with this track...could be he could actually lose some of his 'Angels' brigade unless Blasphemy turns out to be his saviour ...

Been watching the Q channel tonight & it's brilliant to see a load of his old tracks appearing...Lazy Days, South Of The Border, No Regrets...

I love the new video ...fab !!!! way better than many recent ones....Sin/Sin/Sin springs to mind :( OMG !!! How did he ever do that video....

<_<

Bodies is stunning. I've never been a huge Robbie fan, but his new single is really top notch.

I think it catches that sort of electropop thing that's popular at the moment at the same time as not alienating his regular audience. The record was always going to get good radio and video airplay just because of Robbie William's name. The production is also second to none on the track. The HQ sounds brill. Pretty sure this will get to #1, even if it is up against Alexandra (although not 100% sure?). I think Alexandra's track appeals to a more niche audience, whereas Bodies is pretty widespread imo.
