Stars to cover MJ's greatest hits for King of Pop tribute album... 10:57, Wednesday, 5 August 2009 A hoard of stars including Madonna and Beyonce have been rumoured to appear on a tribute album for Michael Jackson. The album, which is set to feature the likes of Whitney Houston, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and Lionel Richie will see the artists perform many of Jacko’s most well-known hits from his career which spanned almost five decades. Britain’s Got Talent star Shaheen Jafargholi is also said to be appearing on the album after the Welsh schoolboy wowed the world at MJ’s memorial service with his rendition of the Smokey Robinson classic Who’s Loving You. The memorial service at the Staples Center in LA last month is reportedly the main inspiration behind the tribute album after stars such as Mariah Carey and Usher performed cover versions of Jackson’s hits. A source has said: "The idea came from the memorial concert. Many fans asked if cover versions would be released and it seemed a wonderful idea. Some of the biggest stars in the world have indicated they'd like to take part to pay their own respects and tributes to the King of Pop.” "This covers album is sure to be a massive worldwide hit with fans and could raise a fortune for Michael's favourite charities." A source has also told The Daily Star that the UK’s very own Robbie Williams is being lined up to deliver his rendition of the Jacko classic Man In The Mirror whilst his former band Take That are rumoured to be covering ABC, Working Day and Night or Don't Stop Til You Get Enough. The Millennium hit-maker has already stated that he is working on a King Of Pop tribute song for his forthcoming album and has reportedly been asked to replace Jacko at the O2 after Michael sadly passed away before his This Is It tour. Whitney Houston who is gearing up to release her new album I Look To You is also rumoured to fill the gap at the arena in London.
August 5, 200915 yr Author If it's a tribute album I'd expect mainly US RnB acts. Why would they choose Robbie and Take That?
August 5, 200915 yr Author It is from The Star remember.... http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/92471...-tribute-album/ SUPERSTARS TO MAKE JACKO TRIBUTE ALBUM 5th August 2009 By Nigel Pauley MICHAEL Jackson will live on in a blockbuster new album of tributes by some of pop’s greatest superstars. Madonna, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Robbie Williams are among the host of big names planning to record a charity disc of Jacko’s greatest hits. Other world-famous acts taking part include Whitney Houston, Usher and Brit schoolboy sensation Shaheen Jafargholi, with legends Stevie Wonder, 59, Diana Ross, 65, and Lionel Richie, 60, also expected to lay down tracks. The idea came about after a succession of stars sung cover versions of the singer’s hits at his memorial service. Producers are asking the stars to perform their favourite Jacko songs. Mariah, 39, will sing I’ll Be There and Britain’s Got Talent star Shaheen, 12, who wowed fans at the Los Angeles memorial with his version of Who’s Loving You, will be asked to record that track and Jacko’s 1970s smash Ben. Madonna, 50, could be tempted by Beat It or Billie Jean, while other songs expected to be covered include Rock With You, She’s Out Of My Life and Bad. And Robbie, 35, is being lined up to sing Man In The Mirror  amid reports his former Take That bandmates could cover ABC, Working Day And Night or Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough. A source revealed last night: “The idea came from the memorial concert. Many fans asked if cover versions would be released and it seemed a wonderful idea. “Some the biggest stars in the world have indicated they’d like to take part to pay their own respects and tribute to the King of Pop.” “This covers album is sure to be a massive worldwide hit with fans and could raise a fortune for Michael’s favourite charities.” Robbie, 35, revealed yesterday he has already been working on a tribute to Jacko – who died sudd-enly on June 25, aged 50 – on his own new studio album. “It’s all so very sad,” he said. “I couldn’t get a lyric to fit on one of the new songs, so when Michael passed away I rewrote it with him in mind.” It has already been revealed that Robbie and Whitney, 46, have been asked to play some of the O2 Arena dates that had been pencilled in for Jacko’s 50-gig run at the London venue. A live tribute concert is also being planned at the venue, involving the singer’s family and other guests, on what would have been his 51st birthday on August 29.
August 5, 200915 yr If it's a tribute album I'd expect mainly US RnB acts. Why would they choose Robbie and Take That? My thoughts exactly
August 5, 200915 yr Author Robbie I guess is well known everywhere else in the World except the US. Take That I'm not so sure about. I'd guess any US producer would go for Justin Timberlake or a reformed N'Sync or suchlike.
August 5, 200915 yr Cant imagine its true. Americans wouldn'nt know Rob, and the rest of the world wouldnt know TT. Although I would like to hear Rob do Man In The Mirror as its one of my fave MJ tracks

August 5, 200915 yr I'm sure this is just tosh! After all ... it is the Star (repeated somewhere in the Sun). I know I'd go off Take That in an instant if they jumped on this Jacko Bandwagon thing ... and believe me ... that is all it would be! Not sure how Rob fans would take to the idea .... maybe you'd like it! The thought makes me want to vomit! Norma
August 5, 200915 yr I'm with Norma....I'd lose me lunch if TT or Robbie got involved in this 'let's keep this in the public eye forever' stuff....I' for one, am fed up with all this MJ drivel on telly.... :puke2: :puke2:
August 5, 200915 yr Author I quite like the idea of Robbie covering Man in the Mirror just to see what he sounds like as I love that song. But I'm not sure I could buy an album with the likes of Mariah Carey, Lionel Ritchie and that wee Welsh schoolboy. Even with Robbie on it. And even if it's for charity. :P Not that I think it's gonna happen anyway. :D
