Posted August 6, 200917 yr Thought I'd start a new topic in case it was missed elsewhere. Beverley's set from iTunes Festival is now available on iTunes. It features 6 of the 14 songs she performed, including "Every Step" and "Soul Survivor" which will be on the album. 01. Flavour Of The Old School (3:12) 02. Made It Back (3:57) 03. Every Step (4:15) 04. Shoulda Woulda Coulda (Extended Blues Version) (11:12) ALBUM ONLY 05. Soul Survivor (4:44) 06. Greatest Day (4:01) I LOVE it, glad iTunes finally uploaded it. Good to have HQ versions of songs you actually saw live I downloaded it at like 2 am the night it was put up and went on a long walk to listen to it, which it's practically perfect for. It's basically all upbeat and shows off how lively she is as a performer. But "Shoulda Woulda Coulda" is obviously very much a souful number, especially this version. I'd never usually listen to a song this long, but it's so epic. (for lack of a better word) The guitar intro goes on for like 2 minutes and it gives me shivers (when I was actually there I just wanted her to start singing!) and her vocals are just unbeatable. You can really feel that she's giving everything and she sings like she means every word. Kinda glad they put "Flavour Of The Old School" on there. It was the first song they played (the slightly long intro is down to her not being on stage yet) and I was so fixated on her that I kinda missed out on listening to the song. If you've bought it, you can probably tell that "Flavour Of The Old School" ran right into "Made It Back" as the end to 'Flavour' is the exact same note as the intro as 'Made It Back'. Slightly niggling to listen to as an album, but good for when it's on shuffle I guess. I totally forgot that they sorta go into a Jazz breakdown in the middle of "Made It Back" as well. "Every Step" is good, but just what you'd expect a live performance of it to sound like. Nothing that different to the studio version. "Soul Survivor" really is the highlight of this for me. It starts off all twinkly and then bursts into the chorus, which is a bit of a stormer. Then it gets even better when Mary starts singing, then Bev and the harmonies. I can't wait until I hear the studio version with Chaka on it. Feel like it could be an album highlight. Then it ends with "Greatest Day" which I really liked, though the bit where she goes "I wrote these lyrics, LONG before Take That" makes me laugh a little. It would have been nice to see "Gold" on the EP as it was one of the other highlights, but getting "Soul Survivor" again this early more than makes up for it. I almost completely forget "In Your Shoes" too, so it'd be nice to hear it again, but not at the cost of "Soul Survivor" as it's much better.
August 7, 200917 yr Downloaded this yesterday morning. I'm glad we get to have the new tracks performed live in HQ. "Every Step" sounded great live, which I was there to see it. :( "Soul Survivor" is just amazing though, I have been listening to it so much since I got the EP. Can't wait for the studio version! :D You are so lucky you got to see her live Aaron. It must have been great! :)

I definitely recommend seeing her live, I was just fixated on her throughout the whole show, she really connects with the crowd and her voice is amazing live. I'm sure you could have won tickets for it, if you tried. Loads of people won them. But if you've got the cash, her tour is already on sale here: http://tinyurl.com/nkrhnf ^_^
August 8, 200917 yr Author Thanks for the link. I'm definitely going to the tour. ^_^ Ooh yay! Which venue are you thinking of?
August 9, 200917 yr Ooh yay! Which venue are you thinking of? I'm going to try and get tickets for the Royal Albert Hall. Which venue are you thinking of?
August 9, 200917 yr Author I'm going to try and get tickets for the Royal Albert Hall. Which venue are you thinking of? I've already got my VIP ticket for the Southampton Guildhall. It was either that of the Albert Hall, both are quite a journey to get there so I just went for the one that's happening sooner. ^_^ It's gonna be the third time I see her this year.
August 9, 200917 yr Author Why am i so slow on the Bev intake... Off to download this now [epic fan fail] Absolutely useless. I was checking iTunes basically every day since the show for it. MPHO was added as well today, not listened to it yet though.
August 10, 200917 yr Author I cant get over how amazing Shoulda Woulda Coulda sounds on this I know, usually I'm put off long songs, but it's Bev and it's epic. I wasn't really thinking that on the night though. On the guitar bit, me and my brother were both like 'get on with it already', now it gives me chills.
August 10, 200917 yr and Soul Survivor aswell. OMG I need to hear in HQ this instant! It's amazing isn't it! Hopefully we can hear the studio version soon.
August 10, 200917 yr Author and Soul Survivor aswell. OMG I need to hear in HQ this instant! Me too! Glad you like it, it doesn't seem to be going down like it's the best thing since sliced bread elsewhere, like it should. :( The studio version is really needed, Mary's mic wasn't very loud (as she was a backing singer) so I can't really make out exactly what she (and the other backing singers) are saying at parts. I just think Chaka is gonna nail it.
