Robbie Williams shows how to win when you're singing - as he gives X Factor contestants a masterclass in performing.

Robbie, 35, who will launch a solo comeback on Sunday's show, delighted the hopefuls with his warmth and friendliness. Stacey Solomon, 20, said: "He was so normal and down to earth. I got a hug."

After hearing her sing, Robbie said: "Stacey's great, I want one. I think every home should have one." He said he wanted Olly Murs "to be my mate" but warned Lloyd Daniels: "He needs to make sure he hits those high notes."

The twins John and Edward Grimes were also impressed with Robbie. Edward, 17, said: "We were really happy to meet him because he is not just a singer, he is a performer." And Azi Jegbefume, of girl band Kandy Rain, said: "When we met him, we hugged him so hard."

Itv bosses have asked head-teachers of local schools to ban pupils from the X Factor house in North London after it was besieged by fans.

ROBBIE MAKES THE CONTESTANTS CRY B) ..... he does look yummy ' though .... ;)

This week all 12 acts have met with singer Robbie Williams for help with their first live performance.

The solo artist, who is performing his new single Bodies on Sunday evening's show, gave advice and encouragement to the finalists.

But some members of girl group Kandy Rain, who formed after meeting as strippers, were overwhelmed and burst into tears as they met their idol.

Single mum Stacey Soloman is Robbie's top tip to win the show, which has reportedly put noses out of joint, particularly with Kandy Rain.

Stacey, 19, said meeting the ex-Take That star is helping her get over missing her 18-month-old son, Zach.

She said: 'I'm so lucky to be here and I wouldn't ever stop enjoying this process because of missing him, as much as I love him this is an amazing opportunity - how can I be sad when I get to meet Robbie?'

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Lucie Jones of the singer: 'Meeting Robbie was unbelievable – I used to go and see him with thousands of others in the crowd when I was 10 so I couldn’t believe it was just him and me in the room.

'He was humble and good looking, but I didn’t fancy him – he’s old enough to be my dad!'

The 35-year-old singer wore a dark blue suit and a quiff in his hair as he talked to the contestants about their music.

It was especially appropriate as his comeback gig - he has not performed for more than three years - if being compared to the TV performance in which Elvis relaunched his career in 1968.

His appearance on the show has caused hundreds of fans to besiege the finalists' house in north west London.

But he has said he does not believe he would have got through the X Factor.

He told The Sun: 'My voice isn't as good as some of these people competing.

'I might not have got through because I am lucky if I can get through a song and I've sung in key.'

Single mum Stacey Soloman said meeting Robbie helped her homesickness

Rob did a great performance on the X Factor tonight. Vocallly it certainly was not perfect, but it is his first live performance in 3 years and he was obviously really nervous. I loved how pleased he seems to be back and he was delighted with the audiences reaction :cheer:
