Posted August 15, 200915 yr So the Premier League season is off to a start today! Very good wins for Sunderland, Arsenal and West Ham imo. I know Arsenal will steal all the backpages for their win against Everton but just watching the highlights now and Everton were shocking defensively. They made Arsenal look better than they were, and their heads must certainly have dropped after the 3rd goal... but good win nethertheless.
August 15, 200915 yr Wow.. Wigan's first goal was excellent  The Arsenal game wasnt a case of an amazing striking display, more a disturbing defensive show by Everton, and i didn't think City looked all that amazing from the highlights..
August 15, 200915 yr Author Adebayor took his goal well though. Yeah they pointed it out on MotD about Lescott for Everton (although anyone with half a brain could see!). His head just wasn't in it. It's all well and good taking a stance over not selling your players, but there's no point having an unhappy player... £18m is a fair price (well more than fair) for Lescott. Moyes should just sell him and take on Campell or Distin. Hull were very unlucky as well. It'll be a KILLER to their morale.
August 15, 200915 yr The Crystal Palace disallowed goal today was absolutely awful, how pathetic of the Bristol players not to own up that it went in. :/
August 15, 200915 yr Author The Crystal Palace disallowed goal today was absolutely awful, how pathetic of the Bristol players not to own up that it went in. :/ Yeah it's cos the officials are shyte. They're awful in all decisions, but if that happened in the Premier League it would have been a goal.
August 16, 200915 yr Glad to see the Carlisle defence held under intense pressure from Millwall yesterday. :cheer: Two clean sheets on the bounce. Hope they can keep this up, I had Millwall down as a hard fixture. In the Welsh league, I was happy to notice a win for my old university town. :cheer:
August 16, 200915 yr Author Can't argue with result. Spurs were the better side. We should have had another penalty, but ho hum. The decisions usually even themselves out so.. All in all what a w*** performance. Torres and Gerrard looked miles off match fitness. Our CBs were both f***ed and crocked. And Lucas and Mascherano were never given enough time on the ball to create anything. Babel looked as $h!t as ever. If we'd have had Benayoun on from the start we'd have probably won the game, as we easily became the better team when he came on. Onwards and upwards as they say.
August 16, 200915 yr Author Oh one more thing, Bassong should still never have played!!! :@ REPLAY THE GAME [\warnock]
August 16, 200915 yr I think it's ridiculous Bassong played. Bassong gets sent off at the end of the season for Newcastle and is suspended for the opening of the season, moves to a club in the Premier League and gets to play. David Edgar gets sent off at the end of the season for Newcastle and is suspended for the opening of the season, moves to a club in the Premier League and is still suspended. Why was he allowed to play?!
August 16, 200915 yr Can't believe how poor Liverpool were ... no urgency; thought they were playing like it was a pre season friendly. On the plus side, I thought Reina, Johnson and Benayoun played well. Full credit to Spurs - they deserved the win.
August 16, 200915 yr Cracking goal from Ekotto, candidate for goal of the season already , great debut by Bassong too he was immense Keane should have got at least 2 in the first half :o Palacos is an absolute beast, our own Roy Keane / Patrick Vieira We always up our game against the big teams its the games against the small teams that worry me

Spurs claim that by the time the registation was completed he was still a Newcastle player, yet they announced him as a player on the Thursday before the next season so he was a Spurs player than. Just Levy being a cock as usual. Karma will take its toll though. Palacios was good. He needed to be. Lucas just couldn't get into the game really because Palacios looked like he was going to snap him. Definitely a huge difference in fitness levels between Liverpool and Spurs. I'm now hoping for an 9-0 trouncing of Stoke on Wednesday.

We reached agreement subject to successful medical and personal terms on the Thursday before Newcastle's first game but the paperwork wasn't completed till the Monday so he was a Newcastle player still registered for the first game so all above board

Talk about cheating. Shouldn't have been allowed imo.
August 16, 200915 yr While I understand the ruling - surely if you are sent off you should be punished (irregardless of which team you play for/ are registered for)?
August 16, 200915 yr Liverpool looked far weaker minus a Alonso/Barry in the centre of the park. On the evidence of that performance they have absolutely no chance of winning the title this season.
August 16, 200915 yr In other words they 'forgot' to do the paperwork. Talk about cheating. Shouldn't have been allowed imo. tbf what team would NOT have done what we did lol ? Loopholes are there to be exploited Given similar set of circumstances I have 100% certainty that Liverpool would have done the same
