Rooney should have known better, he should have been professional enough not to react and being provoked, if I went to a pub tonight and someone winds me up and I kick him in the nuts and push him the judge is not going to have much sympathy with the fact that I can be bad tempered if provoked, Rooney should not have reacted its time he grew up, I am not excusing Portugal's behaviour their behaviour in the Holland match and to some extent the England match was less than professional and I just hope the final isn't Italy v. Portugal. It'll need to be played in Speedos and bathing caps :rolleyes: :rolleyes: but that doesn't excuse Rooney behaving the way he did

He should have known better but you put yourslef in the smae position; you've hadly got the ball all game, England are on the brink of going a goal down and a little t*** is provoking you. I know i'd react in the same way, and it wasn't even like the stamp was meant to cause major harm, from the replays I gather that Rooney got pushed for simply slightly pushing Ronaldo, alright that wasn't shouldn't have happened but its hardly a sending off is it?. Week inweek out players do bigger pushes that that and they don't even get a booking.

Well I can't speak for everybody else but I CERTAINLY was under no illusion that England could win the whole tournament. I also think that's where the Sven factor comes in again. If he had made a decent squad to take with him (i.e. another striker that wasn't untested, unfit or volatile) then we could've made a straight swap. Sure Rooney didn't score as he's not a down-and-out goalscorer but he does what was required of him, which is to have presence and to create good link up play. When Sven isolates him up front as a lone striker there's not really much he can do about it.

We are on par with Brazil for the best individual players in the world, its just that they couldn't seem to gel together. I still consider England one of the best teams in the world (well even more so once Sven leaves), and Rooney's goal scoring record for England isn't brillaint but its what he adds to the team, its like Crouch for Liverpool he doesn't score many but his overall play is good. Well Owen was a half fit striker who played overall about 120 mins of football, and Owen does have a magnificent goal scoring record for England.

Once again Sven has been shown up as a poor tactitian, Scolari is a master at tactics, substitutions and generally geeing on his players. Sven is hopeless, he just sits there,you are well rid of him. £5million a year for that. He certainly flattered to deceive. Hopefully McLaren will be better for you in the future.

Scolari was hardly a great tactician today. He was under the cosh against 10 England me compared to 11 Portugease players. I think Scorlari's tactics were to take Rooney out of the game <_< . Great tactic :rolleyes: .

Oh please, I think no matter WHAT circumstance it is ALWAYS bad sportmanship to get somebody deliberately sent off. It is NOT right to set out to get an opposing player a red card and that is the whole point, Ronaldo cheated just like he did with his continual diving.

Yes they do. I've seen a quote from a Portugease forum were a fan said if you can't beat them, cheat them. Stuff Fifa trying to tackle Stampings and bad tackles, they need to sort out cheats first. The more they get away with it, the more they do it. In many fans eyes this world cup will be remembered for cheats.

According to the Man Utd forum, on French TV pundit & Man Utd God Eric Cantona has labelled C Ronaldo a disgrace & that he NOT Wayne Rooney should have been sent off.

 

(Not that Eric Cantona was the cleanest of professionals)

 

He has also said that he hopes Cristiano Ronaldo NEVER wears a Man Utd shirt again!
