The ref hadn't given his permission yet

I thought it was that the Goalie wasn't ready, which he blatentley was <_< .

On the Ronaldo issue again, i'm majorly peeded off not at the fact that what he did to England but at the fact that I doubt that he'll play in The Premiership next season, as lets be honest I dount there would have been anyway that he'd provoke Rooney and England fans. The guy who has him down as a target if he wins The Real Madrid presidential election must know he's a cert to win it.

Here's hoping an Man Utd get Real Madrid at some stage in The Champions League though.

I can't believe the hypocricy of some people though

On MSN this morning I was talking to a gooner mate who was having a go at Ronaldo over yesterday and I asked him to condemn Eboue's cheating dive in the CL final and Henry diving in the world cup to get a player sent off and he refused  why is it that England fans readily accept cheating by players playing FOR them either for their club or for England and yet are so up in arms about cheating AGAINST their team or country ?? its a double standard

Last night I spoke to a Man Utd fan on MSN and asked him what his reaction would be if Ronaldo got say a Liverpool or Arsenal or Chelsea player sent off while playing for United and his reply was "I would be ****ing delighted", again a ****ing crocodile tear shedding hypocrite

Absolutely well put mate. There is a TOTAL double standard here. Ronaldo hasn't really essentially done anything that any other professional player would do in a similar situation, cheating seems to be endemic in football as a sport, it seems to be accepted.. Well, so long as it's your team doing the cheating and not the opposition that is....

Now, contrast that with athletics... when an athlete gets caught taking performance-enhancing drugs, we dont sit around wringing our hands making any feeble excuses for that, and no British person would find it acceptable for a UK athlete to take performance enhancing drugs....

he is a good player but he is not the messiah he is made out to be

No, he aint, he's an over-rated tosser who's only significant contribution to the world cup was getting sent off.... All the hype, all the bullsh!t... You'd think we had he next fukkin' Pele or Maradonna for all the ruddy headlines he was getting....

Essentially, he's no better than, say, Shearer or Gascoigne in terms of ability, and he will NEVER be regarded as one of the greats as Messi will undoubtedly be in the future.... Well, that is if the Argies actually get a bloody manager who'll be a bit more willing to actually put him on the fukkin' pitch instead of having one of the greatest players on the planet warming the bench for about 75% of Argentina's total match time.... <_<

I've got to sidagree on the Rooney point. I think he will go down as a great player and TBH I think gettign sent off yesterday could be the turning point in his carrer, I mean just look at Beckham, although I highly doubt Rooney will get the England captincy. Messi is a great player but so is Rooney. People forget its been roughly four years since Rooney burst onto the stage and he has improved his all round game a lot and has calmed his temper down a lot.

Sorry mate, people said the same thing about Gascoigne back in the day, he had a lot of ability too, and look what happened there..... A drunken, wife-beating sack of pathetic Geordie $h!te.... I can see Rooney's career going in the same trajectory because the big baby is incapable of controlling himself... If yesterday's performance is what you call calming down, then you and I have clearly have very different interpretations of the phrase....

When Beckham did what he did, it was totally out of character, he had no real history of ill-temperament or blowing his top and he took his punishment like a man and just left the pitch instead of effing and blinding and kicking off at everyone....

I can see were your coming through but Gazza didn't have Fergie as his manager. Now Man Utd aren't my favourite club in the world but they have a great manager and he was certainley calmed Rooney down a lot, as he gets nowhere near as many cards as he did at Everton. Yesterday was a bit -_- for Rooney which was down to Sven's tactics as everybody knows Rooney wants the ball and wants to play football yet he gpt so furstrated yesterday because he couldn't get the ball becuase of the system Sven was playing, and then it didn't help by Ronaldo playing games with Rooney.

Well, if Fergie is the only one who can control Rooney's temper, you'd better hope the FA make Sir Alec an offer he can't refuse....  because as it stands just now, he may be an asset to Man Utd, but he is an utter liability to England....

For myself, I just don't like the guy, I dont like his attitude, I dont like his bad temper... And given all the hype he got prior to this, he let you down very badly....

I didn't used to like Rooney either ut he's really grown on me over these past few years. Yesterday was the only time he's been sent of for England....I think...., but Sven has bo discipline about him and you can see it from the way how when he's managing a game he just sits in the duggout and shows no emotion, and you wouldn't see Scorlari, Benitez, Fergie, Mourinhio etc doing what Sven does.

Well putting him up front on his own with no one to feed the ball to SURELY would have come arcoss Sven's mine so he was just ASKING him to get frustrated. -_-

I couldn't escape the talk today, just about everyone was talking about it in the morining but seirously some girls know jack $h!t about football, I mean they said Lampard did naff all but then they said Gerrard was even worse  .

I think every country will make excuses, some more than others. I will agree though England do make excuses but its only what some people think. I guess thats just a way of life here

I know regardless of what I say about the match between Portugal and England its gonna seem lyk I’m making excuses, maybe I am, but I don’t care, I’m being me and saying whats on my mind.

I watched the match on Saturday with my family and some of my family’s friends and it was a good match. England definitely stepped up their game, big time. Both Portugal and England were brill, but I have to commend England greatly for fending off Portugal when they only had 10 men coz of Rooney’s departure.

I don’t think he was sent off justly, I dunno whether its coz I’m biased or I truly do believe. I don’t know that much about football, but I do know that the ref wasn’t gonna say nothing to Rooney til Ronaldo and the rest of his teammates stepped in and were asking the ref to do summat about it.

There were so many times throughout the game when England deserved free kicks, but they were never given. And when one of the England players had to retake the penalty kicks, I don’t see why that had to happen, at the end of the day the referee blew his whistle, which signalled to take the kick. I feel the ref was biased, maybe becoz when England played against Argentina a couple of years back and England won them…I dunno.

Anywho, I dunno if England had been treated fairly whether they woulda won the game, but I believe everything happens for a reason. It just wasn't England's year.

I don’t believe they woulda made it to the final anyway, but am glad they made it this far, it’s a real achievement.

As I said both teams played a great game and were fantastic. I’m proud they got this far, but lyk one of my relatives friend said they wouldn’t have won becoz of a little thing called KARMA.

France or Germany to win!! Thierry Henry (France) and Jens Lehmann (German goalkeeper) both play for the team I support Arsenal :D

Can't believe Brazil have been knocked out, but well don France!! I wonder whose gonna be the next captain of England. OMG I never even knew Rooney and Ronaldo are teammates for Man Utd, gosh I so need to know more about footie. I hope they can sort this sh*t out. Ronaldo an Rooney are both great players and having them both on one team is a great bonus.
