Megadeth are back this year with a record that is already being heralded as one of the best of 2009, and Megadeth's best work since 1990s thrash masterpiece Rust In Peace. The lead single is called 'Headcrusher' and is already available for download on iTunes and Amazon, whilst another track has been leaked from the Megadeth Fanclub on to YouTube, entitled '1,320'. What do they have in common? Fast and technical thrash with trademark Megadeth dual-guitar from beginning to end.

Can't wait for this one - after the atrocious Risk (Megadeth's very own St. Anger), they've just gone from strength to strength. Every album has bettered the last one, and they seem to be back to their very best with this.

Holy FUKKIN SH!T..... Has someone spiked Dave Mustaine's coffee with heavy duty amphetamines????? That was the BEST FUKKIN' MEGADETH SONG I HAVE HEARD SINCE "HANGER 18"....... In fact, it's even good enough to have been on "Peace Sells..." (the BEST Megadeth album for me...). Megadeth have finally caught the second wind, clearly his old bandmates comeback "Death Magnetic" gave the Ginger Whinger something to aim for..LOL.... And now, if these tracks are anything to go by, the new 'Deth album is set to be a bloody career best for Mr Mustaine.....

Mind you, I bet it's the same old story live, Mustaine just failing miserably to sustain the vocal front..... I've always felt that band could have benefitted more from having an actual vocalist, but Dave's massive ego just never would countenance that.....

just listened to Headcrusher.

It crushed my head.

It's a pity they're releasing this the same week as Muse. I think they would have had a decent shout at a number 1 album if they released it on August 31st, the original release date. Not that it effects the quality of the record in the slightest whether it gets the top album spot or not, but I always think it's good for quality metal to get more exposure. It was great seeing people sitting through the chart show have to listen to Metallica at top of the albums chart two weeks in a row haha.
The songs are alright, easily some of the best stuff since Rust in Peace but nothing is really making me excited about this album, i'm still looking forward to the new Slayer one more. For me Rust in Peace was their best album (even though my fave song is Good Morning/Black Friday from Peace Sells) doubt they will be able to ever top it.

Got the album today - some absolutely quality tracks on here. In terms of thrash, it's arguably better than Metallica's Death Magnetic, although I still think that album is, on the whole, stronger.

It's good, it's DAMN good in places, it's easily the best Megadeth have been since their 80s creative peak....

But it's not quite a "Death Magentic", "Blood Mountain" or "The Blackening"..... And I think I prefer the modern Extreme/Thrash of Devil Driver's "Pray For Villains" or Lamb of God's frankly astounding "Wrath" to this overall as well.... But, "Endgame" IS bloody good....
