Mariah Carey reportedly pulled out of a planned performance on Strictly Come Dancing last weekend but will still appear on The X Factor next week.

 

The singer's slot on the celebrity dancing reality contest was taken by the cast of the West End show Jersey Boys.

 

A BBC spokesman said: "We had hoped to have Mariah Carey on the show but her schedule changed and made it impossible."

 

However, according to the Daily Mail, Carey opted out of the show because X Factor boss Simon Cowell said that she could not appear on both programmes.

 

A source told the newspaper that BBC executives felt that Carey had been "completely unprofessional" in pulling her performance.

 

Carey pre-recorded her X Factor spot yesterday, filming upcoming single 'I Want To Know What Love Is' in front of a live audience.

She did a pretty good performance on Alan Carr I think, especially the whistle note and towards the end. Was a bit awkward/quiet to begin with but I really liked it, heres hoping for a good X Factor performance now! ^_^

Probably the best performance I've seen her do in a while. Not amazing but certainly an improvement on recent ones.

 

Hopeful X Factor is as decent.

Saw her at Westfield. An hour late, which was extremely frustrating, but I'll forgive her "Diva" ways. She was welcomed with a great reception. Got an album cover sleeve signed, too. I was pretty starstruck, to be honest.

OMG. She was hilarious! :o I thought she'd be really stuck-up for some reason! :o Anyway, the performance was amazing too. :wub: Was it live though, or mimed?

^ It was live apart from about 5 seconds at the end. She always mimes the bit before she does the really high whistle at end...

In-credible X Factor perf. The live bits (all except the first bridge and chorus) were simply her best live vocals since '06 or maybe even earlier.

I agree ^^ And people are really p***ing me off with the hate and jumping on the bandwagon because she's not her most popular atm! Just backwards. :mellow: And her vocals were definetly a best in a long time. Considering she woulda be nervous aswell I thought it was great. ^_^

Her and Susan Boyle together was goosebumps alert. Both beautiful performances and my interest in their songs have increased!
