Siouxsie was good but XTC was excellent, probably the best song in this chart. I really rated XTC and they should have been really huge, thoroughly recomend their greatest hits album.

Quite a variety in the album charts this week.

Surprised you don't know Stiff Little Fingers.

Great Punk band from Northern Ireland.

And Making plans For Nigel is a truly great song. Definitely in my top tunes of all time.

Remember seeing XTC do the song on Crackerjack!

1979, Buggles were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Video Killed The Radio Star.' A studio band featuring producer Trevor Horn. Famously, it was the first ever music video shown on MTV in North America.

I don't know how well Abba did on the Canadian charts but in the US they had a number of hits on the Billboard Hot 100. One number one (Dancing Queen, 1 week at number one in 1977) plus Name Of The Game reached #3, Waterloo #6 and The Winner Takes It All #8. They had 4 other top 20 hits, a total of 14 top 40 hits and 20 Hot 100 chart entries in total. Abba Gold has also sold upwards of 5m copies, their biggest (by far) selling album in the US.

Al Hudson's single was quite popular at radio at the time so you've probably heard it. It's a disco song, very much bass rather than beat driven and in 1982 David Christie "borrowed" the bass line for his (dreadful) top 10 hit "Saddle Up".

Queen's single was an original song not a cover though it is a 50s pastiche.
