December 4, 200915 yr I detest Cameron. The only film I like of his is Aliens (which for me was better than the original). Everyone was saying that Titanic would be a massive flop though ... and it was far from it (despite it being one of the crappest films I've ever seen.) Norma

It has me cracking up, just the non-diegetic music, the FROM JAMES CAMERON, THE DIRECTOR OF ALIENS, TERMINATOR 2, TITANIC, the really poor dialogue. I have to sit through the film on Wednesday aswell, I have a feeling i'll just be laughing all through it, I can imagine if I do a review afterwards; '5 Stars The best comedy for years...' They should of marketed it as a comedy, everyone would like it a lot more.
December 10, 200915 yr They should of marketed it as a comedy, everyone would like it a lot more.  Yeah... Let's face it, it's just a "Smurfs" tribute movie in disguise.......

December 12, 200915 yr I don't like the way it looks.. too artificial. Hopefully it has a good plot the visual looks a little unbelievable and corny .. sorry.
December 15, 200915 yr should be able to make my verdict tomorrow ;o although apparently their is a slim possibility I wont be seeing it, something about the distributors being cocks.
December 16, 200915 yr Saw this today, the visuals are amazing, probaly a new era for special effects starting with this movie, although the 3D was very subtle, it almost feels more like it was in 3D just so it's pirated less easily, but overall the 3D does make a crisper image for the film than if it was flat on the screen, but it isnt the sort of gimmicky in your face 3D such as Spy Kids 3D. The script was f***ing awful, absolutly terrible, like some of the dialogue, seriously f***ing awful, like really really bad. And the height-disformed smurf sex was a tad werid, and again the dialogue for it was awful, really tacky. The narrative I supose was good, but it was very classical, nothing interesting about it at all, and had all the typical archetypes, wasnt very interesting, it just basically seemed Todorov and Propp by the book. It doesnt live up to the hype, tbh would be epic on IMAX. And the 2 and a half hours went really fast, it is entertaining. The first half of the film is generally weaker than the second stronger half, the character of Jake Sully was a bit er characterless for quite a bit, they jumped into the story a bit fast aswell, I was expecting a bit more of an indepth beginning not jumping straight to Pandora and having him in his Avatar in like the first 15 minutes. Was a bit rushed. Might write a more structured review later.
December 20, 200915 yr ^ Competelly dissagree. It more than lived up to the hype which I was shocked at. These OTT films with endless special effects usually are not my thing because all the effort is put into the effects and the story and characters are usually totally forgotton about. This was certainly not the case with Avatar imo. The effects are obviously astounding and spectacular,as one would expect for the most expensive film ever made. However I was shocked at how good the story was and the characters were impressive too in my view. I wasnt expecting either tbh, but I definatly feel the overall excellent reviews it is getting are warrented. Cameren, like the guy are not is a great filmmaker and has taken 3D to a whole new level. In a decade with so many bloody awful blockbuster borefests, it is great to end it with such a brilliant film imo. Edited December 20, 200915 yr by Scotty
December 21, 200915 yr I thought this was amazing, i have never seen a movie that made me hate the human race so much Loved it :D
December 22, 200915 yr Loved this film. Jaw hit floor ( not literally ) many times throughout the film. Fantastic and I would recommend it to everyone.
December 23, 200915 yr This was amazing on reflection. The first hour is slow moving but it is visually stunning. I thought there could have been more action but I don't really care, I loved it. Best film all year no contest.
December 27, 200915 yr I agree, 8/10. Really, really strong movie with an incredibly solid plot. My only complaint was the dialogue was a little vapid / poorly written, but this isn't the type of movie that you expect really beautiful writing from. I got so emotionally involved with this LOL. :( Can't believe they killed off Grace. FIERCE ASS BITCH SHE WAS.
December 30, 200915 yr Sigourney Weaver was the worst thing about this film. I've only ever seen her in this, is she generally a $h!t actress?
December 30, 200915 yr She was in Alien, surely you have seen Alien? and her role in Alien is generally known as being quite brilliant.
