Andy Murray is the second seed and faces Earnest Gulbis in the first round, they have met three times previously with the most recent one in Wimbledon this year when Murray easily won. Murray should meet by rankings Paul Capdeville in the second round, the 27th seed Ivo Karlovic in the third, Marin Cilic (16) in the forth round, in the quarters Juan Martin Del Potro (6), Nadal in the semi's and Federer in the final.

With Keothavong injured the only 2 Brit women who can get into the tournament are Robson and Baltacha who were both supposed to play their third and final qualifying round today but heavy rain suspended play.

Give your predictions on how you think everyone will do.

Also McEnroe has tipped Murray for the title.

In the mens draw I can't see past Federer and Murray, but I expect Roddick and Del Potro to do well.

Over on the Women's it's great to see Jankovic back on form, here's hoping she can get her best GS result of the season. Safina should also be strong as should Sharapova and perhaps even Clijsters. Dementieva's always a good bet to get to the semis, and Serena's probably the favourite, but as per usual her pre-slam form is questionable.

Men: Federer, I'm not sure about Murray and although he beat Gulbis a couple of times, Gulbis is not an easy opponent to meet in the first round. I don't think Nadal can win, not yet in form since he's back. Surprise could be Roddick and Del Potro, and don't forget about Djokovic!

Where is Gonzalez btw? Out of form or injured? I also miss a lot Nalbandian.

Women: Serena or Venus (same half sadly), Clijsters could be very dangerous. Sadly I don't think after all those "attacks" against Safina, that she can win US Open, her form is not that well either although you never know if she's on court :)

Sharapova could meet very early Dementieva. I don't like Sharapova at all. Her mentality, her behaviour on court, but she has pretty good hitting power. Sadly she doesn't play with her brain a lot.

Jankovic since she was number 1 totally lost her attitude and changed into an opinionated and arrogant woman, who thinks she is the best, although her game let her down a lot of times. She lacks of power and sometimes idea (gameplan) what to play (just an example she could never win against Henin, although she was very close a lot of times). I liked her when she was not that famous, now I totally dislike her. She is completely the opposite of hard working Ivanovic, who only concentrates on her game and not on rankings, other players or what others do on court... Hope Jankovic fails big time! That was she deserves... sorry for the fans. But I hope Ivanovic can improve. She has the game, but something is missing now. Maybe her confidence?

Gutted that Ivanovic is out :nocheer: but it's really good to se Jelena carrying her form into a grand slam, she hasn't made it past the fourth round this year, so I'm really hoping she gets to the QF at least.

Clijsters and Sharapova are gonna be interesting, they're gonna have a lot of big matches early, I can see Clijsters overcoming Bartolli, it'll be close but I think she will, however I don't see Sharapova beating Dementieva who's on really good form atm.

Nadal played surprisingly well last night considering his knee problems, he didn't even have to face a break point from Gasquet. Although we can't forget that Gasquet has only played a couple of matches since his ban, so we'll have to see how Nadal holds up against stiffer competition. As for Federer, he breezed through his 2nd round match against Greul in under 2 hours. I think there's a real chance that Federer will win it, but it's definitely not a given! I've got high hopes for Murray too.

Really surprised to see Dementieva out, I had her down as a potential finalist. Also I'm gutted that Jankovic is out, but she'd just found out her Grandmother had died, so really I doubt tennis was on her mind that much and it was really brave of her to play instead of giving Shvedova a bye.
Murray HAS to win this. I didn't think he was quite ready at either the Australian Open or Wimbledon when many people were tipping him, but this is really his time now. He definitely knows how to beat Federer, even if he lost the last time they played. The draw is really working out for him as well as many of the tough opponents he was due to run into early on have been upset. Although Del Potro in the Qtrs will be VERY tough - after Murray and Federer, I consider DP to be the biggest threat for the title.

I agree I think currently Del Potro will give Murray a harder (QF) game than Nadal (SF) on hard courts.

24/32 of the men's seeds have made it through to the top 32 (Round 3)

16/32 of the women's seeds made it through to the top 32. This just shows what dissarray the women's game is in at the moment. The top players are really lacking consistency. Here's hoping Sharapova's and Clijster's return can restore some consistency at the top of the women's game.

Del Potro is best on hardcourts, but I don't think he's in the form he was this time last year when he won 4 (or 3?) tournaments in a row, breaking the ATP record.

Kim's 5-0 up against Venus :cheer: I didn't expect her to be in such great form :o

Not the biggest fan of women's tennis, but I have to admit the final set of that Clijsters-Venus match was pretty amazing. Hope Clijsters can go all the way, it would be an amazing story.

Murray has probably been looking the most impressive of the major title threats so far. I'm definitely still backing him for the title. I think Nadal's going out in the next round to Gael Monfils, or failing that, in the quarterfinals to Tsonga.

:o Wozniacki's into her first QF :cheer:, the draw's really open on the top half and I wouldn't be surprised to see her in the final. I'd love Clijsters to beat Serena in the semis and make it to the final , although Na Li will be a tough opponent for her in the QF.

Murray out in straight sets in last 16. :manson:

Tears up Sports Personality of the Year 2009 betting slip.

Murray apparently has wrist tendonitis, but it was still an incredibly lame effort. He barely fought at all. He can't play so passively in Grand Slams if he's going to win one.

With that said, even though I'm sure the press here are going t0 slaughter him now, it's still stupid to write him off completely. Federer also totally underperformed in Slams for years before he finally learnt how to handle them mentally.

Yeah, even when he was ranked about #5 he used to go out in the first few rounds.

Here's hoping Murray can do something similar

I should have backed Clijsters! I was certain that she would win before the tournament started for some reason, I had a gut feeling :o
