I think everyone's already covered what I wanted to say, it's not exactly something that could be left in the air for days. Were we meant to hold off voting for almost 48 hours so all 4 of us could be online and have our say? Not really. A decision had to be made and me and James were online at the time.

 

Funnily enough I wanted to wait until one of you came online before we did anything in case one of you had an issue with us making a decision, but I was persuaded you wouldn't. Hrm.

 

Personally, I'm not pleased with 13 getting through each semi and another 13 being turned away. I just saw that 53 countries were taking part and I gave Kath the go ahead to start. But it turned out there was 54, one of the participants was missing from the list in the reservation thread. I think the only fair thing was to let everyone in (as a one off) rather than to say "hey you can participate", only to take that away from one person.

Well, I have always said that we will never go higher than 30, so I wouldn't have any major problem with 14 qualifiers, but there's always been opposition to going higher than 28 - some people still want a limit of 26 oddly enough :/ And given there are occasional complaints when we have 29 in a final anyway I'm not too surprised no host thus far has dared to extend to 30 :heehee: I can live with 50/50 anyway, but we have to be clear that it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to extend any further than 53/54 (one AQ/two AQs), as doing so will lead to more people not qualifying than qualifying from the semis. I can just about deal with 50/50, any less than that would do no good for the contest though IMO.

I wouldn't have a problem with 14 qualifiers either, I just think 29 seems like a very firm limit for us. The only time we've ever topped that was in the Foreign Languages spin-off and that was mostly because we didn't want to chuck one person out.

 

Personally I'd be more comfortable with a 52/53 limit. I never want us to be in the position where we're excluding more entries from the final than we're letting through and 50/50 is a bit close to the bone but, yeah, I don't mind it in this case.

and I have to tell ya something...DRAMA :drama:...yesterday I went to work and I was happy and smily cause there wasn't a lot of work to do so I can stay longer posting in here and listen to songs ...at that time I was quoting one of the Jerick posts and when I hit add reply, something unexpected happen and something was popping in my window saying ACCESS DENIED FROM COMPANY :snif:...company took my priviliges of internet for 30 days...I spend too much bandwith :lol:...that sucks u know and kinda I feel embarrased but also it makes me laugh...but luckily I'm not gonna suffer all those 30 days without internet because 7th September will travel and will go home for 2(hopefully 3) weeks...now u have to pray for me guys, hopefully I won't get fired or one way ticket for my vacation :o, and I still have to go and talk to IT guys...I'm just waiting for their call in any minute :(

OMG all you people can do is f***ing moan and groan. I'm putting a $h!t load of time and effort into this contest and then I get slapped in the face that the way I randomized the semi finals is wrong. It wouldn't have made any much of difference if I used random.org in the first place, and under my circumstances randomizing it the way I did was the only way I could do it. I've never used random.org and the copying and pasting would've wasted time, time I didn't have, I was running really late with posting the semis as well. Unlike some people who revolve their lives around this contest to the extent that they have to be ridiculously petty about the way I host - I actually HAVE a life and I'm doing the best I can. If that's not good enough I won't even bother hosting anymore. Some 'well dones' and 'good jobs' would be appreciated. . :rolleyes:

I was actually very impressed with the job you've done so far and will likely and hopefully continue to do. Your presentation is smart and clear without being bland and you have been making decisions that I respect that I would never have dared to make for fear of backlash, the no changes rule coming back for one :wub: Don't let the negativity get to you like I did in XV, because so far you are doing a brilliant job!

I have a very different idea about who it is funnily enough :lol: I won't say though as I'm hoping it will 'dark-horse it' and I don't want to start hyping and causing a potential backlash for it...I guess you'll see who it is in my next chart at the weekend when it debuts :kink:
