September 6, 200915 yr I think its safe to say Alexandra's going to have no problem getting to number one now. 6/10 Of course Alexandra's going to get to #1...then 'Happy' will be released, and knock her straight off.
September 6, 200915 yr I like the verses, the "happy happy happy" part and the outro but I hate the chorus and the bridge.Overall the song just does nothing for me no matter how many times I listen to it. I'm a huge Leona fan and I've loved everything shes done so far including her underground album "Twilight", but this is just awful imo.Its got nothing to do with the fact Ryan Tedder produced & co-wrote it.Its just not cathcy at all. I hope it grows on me.
September 6, 200915 yr I think its safe to say Alexandra's going to have no problem getting to number one now. 6/10 Leona's releasing a few weeks after isn't she? So of course Alexandra will beat Leona (and you're assuming Alexandra has it in the bag .... Rob releases the same week). However if Leona was releasing the same week as Alexandra .... I doubt she'd get even half Leona's sales. I think this is great. Much prefer it to the over the top and (even desipte its sales - overrated) Bleeding Love. Norma
September 6, 200915 yr I think Leona will get much higher sales than Alexandra. "Happy" is in a different league to "Bad Boys".
September 6, 200915 yr I do like it don't get me wrong but I can't help feel "Bleeding Love" Mock 2. It will probably change, I mean i didn't like most of Spirit till I listened to it over and over.
September 6, 200915 yr LOL are you serious? Bad Boys is s**t compared to ANY of Leona's songs..... yes, Bad Boys will go to number 1, but Happy will go to number 1 and sell twice as much!!
September 6, 200915 yr LOL i feel quite sorry for Alexandra, she will always be compared to Leona with everything now.. having said that, I dont think Bad Boys is a patch on Happy and I don't think Alex is a patch on Leona :P
September 6, 200915 yr I dont think Bad Boys is a patch on Happy and I don't think Alex is a patch on Leona :P I agree with the second part, but I actually think BB is better than Happy.
September 6, 200915 yr I prefer Bad Boys myself (dont get any idead now, i mean the song obv). I honeslty dont get why you feel the need to be critical of Alex though, her and Leona just happened to come from the same show - they are two differet artists releasing songs on different weeks.

Oh please, it was quite obvious from the moment Alex won they'd be compared. They're the only two female winners in X-Factor history who could be targeted towards the same market. It was inevitable. Anyway, I like "Happy" but I was hoping for something different. I'm a Leona st.an so I'll support her whatever she releases, but I wanted more. On a real positive, her voice is magic on this.
September 6, 200915 yr For me Happy is just fanatastic, Bad Boys is a good track and High five to alex and her team though for choosing a different direction instead of a carbon copy of leona. Edited September 6, 200915 yr by leonafan

September 6, 200915 yr This isn't bad actually :o I've never been able to stand her before but this is by far the best thing she's ever done imo.
September 6, 200915 yr This review is amazing and totally sums up the song for me: Leona Lewis - "Happy" http://z.about.com/f/bl/star/t1/five.gif http://z.about.com/d/top40/1/G/H/M/1/leonalewishappy.jpg When one of the top big ballad singers discovered in the past five years, Leona Lewis, heads to the studio with arguably the top producer and songwriter of towering pop ballads, Ryan Tedder, you know there will be fireworks. However, there is no assurance of a masterpiece. "Happy" is masterful. It is one of the most genuinely moving and realistically inspirational songs in recent memory. There is a lot of pain laid bare in the words and Leona Lewis' voice, but the ultimate message is that happiness is something well worth the pain and the fight. Pros * Powerful song melodically and lyrically * Moving interpretive vocal performance * The indescribable feel of a classic Cons * No negatives Description * Written by Evan Bogart, Leona Lewis, and Ryan Tedder * Produced by Ryan Tedder * Released September 2009 by J Records Guide Review - Leona Lewis - "Happy" For those still blown away by "Bleeding Love," the pair of Leona Lewis and producer Ryan Tedder have an even more powerful song for you. There is the same stately elegance that puts the songs in a similar sonic category. A static, ambient chord kicks things off, but cascading piano soon kicks in and we end up with a trademark Tedder wall of percussion for the chorus. However, "Happy" is more mature lyrically than "Bleeding Love" and Leona Lewis' singing moves to a different level of interpretive power here. This is a stellar song delivered with a near perfect performance. The song "Happy" details in words a concept that not taking chances may build a life of safety. However, it's those risks we choose to take that are necessary for truly being happy. Leona Lewis sings emphatically that she is going to dismiss the former advice in favor of the risks so that she can have the chance at finding happiness. The entire spirit of the song is encapsulated in the chorus, "So what if it hurts me, so what if I break down..." Leona Lewis' vocals here move beyond simple power and bombast. She delivers the words with feeling that truly engages the listener emotionally. Her sense of drama is impeccable particularly with a stellar melismatic run that leads into the final verse. Lewis told The Sun, "The vocal was totally spontaneous. I sang it as soon as we finished writing. Sometimes it's better not to over-think things." "Happy" exhibits what pop music is at its best. Melodically it is instantly memorable. The lyrics have a true power to move the listener, and the performance of Leona Lewis is one for the ages. That makes all of us who love pop music very very "Happy." http://top40.about.com/od/singles/gr/leonalewishappy.htm
