I think the song is terrible. If it was just another singer, without the X Factor publicity it would get about Top 20. It's just disgusting... just my opinion though.

I don't think it would even get top 20 if it wasn't Cheryl Cole.

Oh well - she is the current media darling, and that combined with X-Factor is what's making this a massive record.

It's a shame she didn't use Xenomania though and not that drab r'n'b type $h!te she is using, and don't get me started on what she was wearing on Sunday night... ok from the wasit up but the rest, sack the stylist love :puke2:

Why are people saying that its only a hit because its cheryl? Obviously the singer of a track is an important factor when anyone buys music. But that theory almost suggests that anyone could sing any song and it would be the song that gave it success, not the artist.

In my opinion, madonna only does well because its madonna, kylie only does well because its kylie, lady gaga only does well because its lady gaga. So i don't see the whole big deal out of making a point of saying that cheryl is doing well because its her?

That argument always crops up, and as true as it is, most successful singles are based around how much hype they get, radio or video play they get or they're guaranteed success because of their name. It's the way it's always worked, it's the way it's always going to work.

(It's also certainly why Britney's awful new song will do well anyhow...)

Yes of course this is how the record industry works now.

If we went back 20 or 30 years then things were different - then new artists had to work more to sell records. And I count Madonna in here as she started right at the bottom, and with hard work and determination became the artist she is now.

This is pretty bloody amazing...... the comparison is hilarious
