A big fat "LOL" at there been no thread for this film.

 

 

I'm not one for big reviews of films I've seen but I'd probably say this was the best film I've seen this year, really good story with lots of undertones of apartheid etc... Great action sequences and it makes films with 20x the budget (Transformers II...) look very very $h!t.

 

Go and see this.

Really good film. Excellent script work, and the fact that all of the cast is pretty much unknown benefits the film massively.

 

Some of the CGI and the action sequences are pretty impressive. I think the fact that you feel massive sympathy for the aliens as the film progresses, really just highlights the wonderful script work. The manner in which the film is presented is done very well too. The commentary bits that are done throughout the film referring to the main events of the film really add to the film. Leaves the door open for a sequel too which I hope eventually materialises as it's left on a bit of a touching ending.

anyway I have this downloaded in dvd quality and ready to watch, so my opinon is coming.

Innittt, I assumed there was one and looked through everythinggg the other day [asif. Up to page 2] and didn't want to create a new one incase it was on the top of page 3...

 

Anywho, such a bloodddyyy marvellous film. I just wanted to take the baby alien home. It was so saaadd when

Wikus was just about to fly the shipthing away without Christopher.

AMAZING film! (although i haven't watched the last 25 minutes of it as i was being abused by my younger sister :( )

 

Marvellous writing, great actor work. I am pretty indifferent to this genre of movies (a-la The Office series) but i love this one.

Great film, completely overestimated how good it would be so ended up disappointed. I'm starting to think that films need to be called "Release #23443" with no advertising or synopsis at all..then I will be genuinely suprised at good films rather than slightly disappointed that great films do not quite look as good as the trailer!

Didn't really expect it to be quite so "action heavy", but really, it kind of took my breath away.... A quite marvellous Sci-Fi action film, and the bonus here of it actually having a BRAIN beneath all the muscular, extremely well choreographed action sequences.... The use of different film techniques (CCTV, 'documentary', 'vox pops', hand-held cam, etc,) was quite dazzling and edited together absolutely superbly.... Along with equally excellent "Moon", this is easily the best Sci Fi of 2009, IMO........ The idea wasn't too dissimilar to early 90s film/TV series "Alien Nation", but this was a far more harsh and brutal take on the vision of alien refugees on Earth.......

This was niceeee. Saw it like a month ago. I'm not normally into sci-fi but this was pretty damn good (only better sci-fi films this year are probably Moon and Star Trek...)

 

End kinda dragged on a bit though. Other than that, no complaints.

Well a guy I know says this was rubbish and one of the worst films he's ever seen in his life.

that guy you know can't have seen many bad films then :P

 

Really enjoyed this film, I'm less in to the action Sci-Fi bits so that final half-hour didn't really impress me but overall a great film which was thoroughly entertaining. Oh and I really want a baby prawn!

Either that or hasn't seen very many films, period..... :lol:

 

I loved the "Sci Fi" bits... In fact the whole thing after a while, just reminded me of a particularly delirious live-action Japanese Anime/Manga film... A lot of Anime/Manga involves transformation of humans into machines or demons.... If you liked this, I'd recommend something like "Tetsuo - The Iron Man" or "Akira".....
