Posted September 9, 200915 yr Today We Countdown Nickelback's top 10 Rock Songs.......... 10 - Photograph Presumably, its lyrics look back at the adolescence of frontman Chad Kroeger, who was responsible for writing the song. The single became the band's third top ten hit in the United States, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Photograph" has sold over 1.4 million digital downloads in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, though it is certified as 2x Platinum by the RIAA, since Roadrunner Records has not yet requested and paid for an updated certification. 9 - Too Bad (Silver Side Up,Fast & the Furious Soundtrack) 8 - Savin Me There has been a lot of discussion and debate into who exactly the song is "calling out for". Some believe for it to be a lover of the protagonist, while some believe it to have religious meaning, with themes of forgiveness and redemption, with lyrics such as "Heaven's gates won't open up to me" and "teach me wrong from right". So far Nickelback has not specifically addressed this uncertainty. 7 - If Everyone Cared The song is bookended by references to a couple's romantic evening. The first of these transitions quickly into the chorus which lays out the message fairly directly. "If everyone cared and nobody cried/If everyone loved and nobody lied./If everyone shared and swallowed their pride/then we'd see the day when nobody died." 6 - Never Again "Never Again" deals with the issue of domestic abuse. The events depicted in the song are seen through the eyes of a child who regularly watches his mother being brutally abused and assaulted by her violent husband (who comes home drunk and in a violent mood). The speaker's age is evidenced in the lines I hear her scream from down the hall... She cries to me, "Go back to bed" By the second verse, the mother's injuries have brought her to the hospital, where she lies to the nurse about their source (claiming to have "slipped and fallen"). The nurse, however, isn't convinced that her injuries are sustained by a simple fall, and suspects that she is the victim of domestic violence, hence the lines She looks at you She wants the truth Since the song is in the eyes of the son, his father's violent actions towards his mother causes him to develop a deep hatred for his father. This is evidenced in the bridge to the third verse: Father's a name you haven't earned yet You're just a child with a temper The lyrics also suggest that he plans to beat up his father when he grows up in retribution: Kicking your ass would be a pleasure By the third verse, the mother is about to face this brutal situation yet again; only this time, she grabs the gun and shoots her husband in self-defense. 5 - FIGURED YOU OUT One of Nickelback's more controversial songs, "Figured You Out" reached 65 on the Billboard Hot 100, but topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for 13 consecutive weeks and was also voted one of the "40 Most Awesomely Bad Dirty Songs...Ever" on VH1. In 2004, the song was number one on both Billboard's Year-End Mainstream Rock Chart and Radio & Records Rock and Active Rock charts. The song is the story of a wild, often abusive sexual relationship between a man and a woman. Although it seems that both are using drugs, the woman seems to have more problems with them than the man and (apparently) is willing to subject herself to degrading sexual activities while intoxicated. 4 FELLIN' WAY TO DAMN GOOD The music video for "Feelin' Way Too Damn Good" is the last known Nickelback music video in which former drummer Ryan Vikedal is seen playing the drums. Ryan Vikedal has since been replaced by former 3 Doors Down drummer Daniel Adair, who played and did backing vocals on Nickelback's 7x Platinum album, All the Right Reasons. 3 ROCKSTAR The lyrics can be taken as a satirical commentary on the lifestyle (or perceived lifestyle) of a rockstar, or as a glorification of material success at the expense of artistic integrity. The material desires of the rockstar are listed, but the practice needed to become proficient at rock music is never mentioned. For example: "I want a brand new house/ on an episode of Cribs/ And a bathroom I can play baseball in ... I want a new tour bus full of old guitars/ My own star on Hollywood Boulevard"[2] 2 SOMETHING IN YOUR MOUTH "Something in Your Mouth" sees Nickelback returning to a hard rock sound, with 'adult' themed lyrics, similar to their past hits "Animals" and "Figured You Out". The song is very fast paced, with a prominent guitar riff, and rapped vocal parts. It describes an attractive girl who gains the attention of everyone around her with suggestive dancing and her style of dress. The lyrics contain numerous sexual innuendos, with the line 'something in your mouth' open to various interpretations, the most common association being that of oral sex. In a recent interview, Kroeger stated one of the guitar riffs had come to him while on tour. He recorded the riff onto his cellphone and sent it to the producer, Mutt Lange, who put a microphone up to his own cellphone and recorded the sent guitar riff. The cellphone recording is the exact same recording used on the album, never being re-recorded in a studio.[3] 1 HOW YOU REMIND ME "How You Remind Me" is the first single from rock band Nickelback's 2001 album, Silver Side Up. A "Gold Mix" was made for latter editions of the single with the heavier guitars edited out of the chorus. This single would be the last rock single to be #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 until Maroon 5's song "Makes Me Wonder" went to #1 six years later. Lead vocalist and guitarist Chad Kroeger refers to this song as the song that put Nickelback on the map as referred to their concert in Sturgis
