September 19, 200618 yr Why don't we close this thread??? is gonna become another Westlife again everybody... and That's not the way Shakira's fans are... Oral Fixation... Just admit you were wrong... she's not the Queen of Pop... and only time will tell if she'll be bigger than Madonna... (I do think she's more talented than Madge)
September 19, 200618 yr Quick question thats a bit off topic, but why did Radio 1 refuse to play Hips?
September 19, 200618 yr madonna is queen, shakira is just getting into her stride, what is amazing is the fact she can shift 400k without doing any interviews or appearances in the UK no promo from her to support HDL and with little radio support, objectively that is pretty outstanding how many artists can do that? i see kylie as princess too, xtina is more of a princess than britney but not in kylie's league i think cause kylie has a few years on both of them
September 19, 200618 yr Really pleased for her she deserves it :cheer: hope Scissor Sisters just beat Sandi Thom or summot lol
September 19, 200618 yr Author Oral Fixation... Just admit you were wrong... she's not the Queen of Pop... and only time will tell if she'll be bigger than Madonna... (I do think she's more talented than Madge) I already admitted that, two pages ago. I said I should probably said "Future Queen" or something.
September 19, 200618 yr Author How about "Latin American Goddess". Surely you can't dispute that one - and it's a metaphor btw.
September 19, 200618 yr well personnally i dont care what others think as for me kylie is the queen and the princess of pop,i dont care about sales etc im happy with kylie and have been for many many years,
September 19, 200618 yr I have a problem with the new title of the thread, Shakira doesn't exactly strike me as a goddess so to speak... oh ignore me
September 19, 200618 yr Now I know who you are talking about from the title of the thread. :) Do you think the Scissor Sisters can overtake Shakira for the 2nd best selling single of the year (so far) spot?
September 19, 200618 yr I doubt it... I think they will shift around 400K... and Shakira 500K But I don't think Shakira will be #2 at the end of the year... Christmas is coming... remember
September 19, 200618 yr Author Shakira is probably at the moment as big as Britney, in terms of sales and overall success (of all 11 albums, 39 singles, World Tour, etc.). In the coming years, Shakira's next albums will probably still have that rock-latin-cultured-pop feel to them (and perhaps even urban, if she goes that way), and she'll continue to do well. In 20 years time, she could well be bigger than Kylie and bigger than Madonna (obviously not as big as Celine Dion).

Madonna is bigger than Celine Dion in terms of sales...  And this comes from someone who does not like Madonna
September 19, 200618 yr Author What are you talking about??? Madonna is bigger than Celine Dion in terms of sales...  And this comes from someone who does not like Madonna No she's not. Two years ago the World Music Awards gave Celine Dion the award for the biggest selling female artist of all time, and since then Celine Dion's sold another 10 million or so records. We could probably argue all day about who is actually the best selling, but the World Music Awards say it's Celine Dion and I'd believe them above anyone on this site.
September 19, 200618 yr No she's not. I'd advise you to look in the pop forum at all the threads on this  Mariah has apperently also got that award. I would'nt rely on it if i were you ;)

September 19, 200618 yr Author I'd advise you to look in the pop forum at all the threads on this  Mariah has apperently also got that award. I would'nt rely on it if i were you ;) No, Miriah Carey gets the normal "World's Best-Selling R&B/Female Artist" awards, that are only significant to that particular year (so each year it'll be different, Shakira will probably get this year's award). The WMA Diamond awards are the "all time" ones, and Celine Dions the only woman to get it for biggest selling female artist - but Miriah Carey got one in 2003 for passing 150 million albums.

That was largely been discredited at the time as inaccurate. A bit like MTV giving Michael Jackson an artist of the millenium award (of course he was better than The Beatles, Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra  ) Celine is 3rd behind Mariah (2nd) & Madonna (1st). Madonna's album sales alone are (according to her record label - Warners (from August 2006): Madonna's 1st Album (1983): 9 million Like A Virgin (1984): 21 million True Blue (1986): 24 million Who's That Girl (ost) (1987): 6 million You Can Dance (Rmx) (1987): 7 million Like A Prayer (1989): 17 million I'm Breathless (1990): 7 million Immaculate Collection (1990): 26 million Erotica (1992): 6 million Bedtime Stories (1994): 8 million Something To Remember (1995): 9 million Evita (ost) (1996): 8 million Ray Of Light (1998): 17 million Music (2000): 15 million GHV2 (2001): 7 million American Life (2003): 5 million Remixed & Revisited (2003): 1 million Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005): 9 million I'm Going to Tell You a Secret (live) (2006): 0.6 million That adds up to approxiamately 210 million albums to date. She has also sold 101.2 million singles to date (for the individual breakdown - check my Madonna Ranking thread in my signature). In short Madonna has sold over 310 million records, which I think is a good deal more than what Celine Dion has managed.
September 19, 200618 yr Can we stop the argument please everyone?! its pointless for all -_- All I will say si that Shakira is not the queen of pop, she may be iconic to a lot of people, but that doesnt make her the queen, lets not go into anything else about it please, its pointless because evretyhgin will jyst go around in circles and end in an argument Edited September 19, 200618 yr by Mattuh
September 19, 200618 yr Can we stop the argument please?! its pointless for all -_- Since when is stating FACTS from the official sales from a record company arguing? I am merely trying to kill an argument & trying to put an end to be people making ignorant & incorrect statements. :arrr:
