Robbie Williams is the biggest pop act in the world today. His current "Close Encounters" tour set a new world record when 1.6 million tickets were sold in just one day. The tour encompasses 44 shows in 14 countries with Williams performing to 2.6 million fans.

 

On Saturday 19th August, Radio 101 will join radio stations in 30+ territories all over the world to broadcast one of the dates from the Robbie Williams' sold out "Close Encounters" tour. Radio 101 has been granted the right to broadcast the second of Williams' Vienna show at the 50,000 capacity Ernst Happel Stadium. The two hour show will commence at 9.00pm and will be broadcast "live" as it happens.

City's Forth One gets deal for Robbie gig

A CITY radio station has lined up an exclusive live broadcast of a Robbie Williams concert this weekend.

 

The superstar's gig in Austria on Saturday will be beamed to more than 500 million listeners around the world.

 

Forth One has clinched a deal to broadcast the gig, which will go out live from around 7pm.

 

Programme director Luke McCullough said: "We're delighted to be part of this very exciting international broadcast.

 

"Robbie is a fantastic performer with an unrivalled back-catalogue of hit singles and albums.

 

"He's a firm favourite with the listeners of Forth One and it's great to be able to give them the chance to tune in, along with hundreds of millions around the world, to the Vienna show," Mr McCullough added.

On Saturday, 19th August, 2006 Robbie will be performing to his biggest audience ever.... Millions of Robbie fans are in for a real treat when his Vienna show at the Ernst Happel stadium is simultaneously broadcast live to radio listeners across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

 

The full two-hour show will be beamed live around the world via satellite to 19 radio stations in the UK plus others internationally.
