Posted January 16, 200719 yr Mika set for number one Source: MW Hotly-tipped new artist Mika is set to score his debut number one this week with his first full single release, in an excellent week for new talent. Early sales reports suggest that Grace Kelly (Island), which entered the chart this week at number three on downloads only, will climb to number one in its first full week of release, just ahead of Just Jack’s Starz In Their Eyes (Mercury), itself a new entry at four this week on downloads. In a particularly strong week for new artists, 1965 Recordings’ The View look set for a top three placing with their single Same Jeans and Polydor’s Klaxons are likely to score a top ten hit with Golden Skans. Jamie T and Damon Albarn’s new band The Good, The Bad And The Queen should also be in or around the top ten, with their new singles, Calm Down Dearest (Virgin) and Kingdom Of Doom (Parlophone), respectively. However, last week’s number one, Leona Lewis’s A Moment Like This (Syco), looks set to fall outside of the top five. Although, to be honest, I'm more interested in which surprise retro tunes make the top 75 this sunday. Also, surprised (well, not that surprised) that there haven't been any celebrity big brother contestants scoring minor re-entries.

A surprisingly large amount actually. Mika sold 20,000 downloads and Just Jack shifted 13,000. Physicals will only add about 50% to Just Jacks total at the most therefore still not as much as Mika last week. IIRC Gnarls Barkley sold 30,000-ish the week they were No.1 on downloads alone. I can easily see Mika rising to that amount this week.

Also, to answer my earlier question about Celeb BB contestants - there's the Jackson 5 edging towards the 40. Nice. Not sure about Billie though :(

SITWOC's on the ad for that Skins programme that continually gets shown on channel 4 at the moment so wouldn't surprise me if it was that one. Also, does anyone know if The Plastics who feature on 'Real Damage' are the band who did 'Copy' some years ago?
