I'm always very unsure about bands releasing double albums... In the past you could argue for it because of the very limited space on a vinyl album (usually 45 mins tops for both sides), but a CD can get something like 80 mins of music on it, I don't see the need to labour the point. The average album has no reason to last longer than an hour; you should always leave the punter wanting more, too many bands fall into the trap of doing long albums just because they can...

Less is more 99.999999 times out of 1000...

Dani California is a bit of a let-down, a bit RHCP-by-numbers I think... but the rest of the album is pretty great... some stunning slower tracks on there which is where I think this band's strengths lie.

One thing, though - isn't that the tackiest, nastiest album sleeve?!?!? Why on earth did they OK that? Dreadful.....

I'm buying it tomorrow (hopefully)

Haven't heard any of it except Dani California. I'm not going to be disappointed am I? The reviews on Teletext haven't been great :(

Anyone got any early standout tracks from Stadium Arcadium? Personally I feel Desecration Smile and Stadium Arcadium (the single) are two GEMS in themself
I love this album. Jupiter and Mars are both on par for me, and Dani California is c**p compared to the rest of the album. Tracks that stand out for me off the top of my heard are: Snow, Charlie, Tell Me Baby, Stadium Arcadium, 21st Century and Pom De pomp of whatever it is.

Pom De pomp of whatever it is.

Hump De Hump ;) I like that one too. It has an old style Chili's feel to it.

I'm underwhelmed by the new album. 28 tracks is much too much.

IMHO it is not as good as their previous two studio albums Californication & By The Way.

It's rubbish. Nothing seems to stand out. Everything is just average. Snow (Hey Oh) is the only song I would rate above 7/10. Every other Chili's album has ATLEAST five I rate 9/10 or higher. Hump de Bump is one of, if not THE worst song I have heard in AGES. It's really hard to distinguish the filler. I knew there was going to be filler, double albums will ALWAYS have filler. By The Way was not a great album by any stretch of the imagination but if you take Stadium Arcadium's best 14 tracks By The Way PISSES on it!
