November 2, 200816 yr ..And, er, what the fukk does Pop/Rock, lame-ass cr@p like Sum 41 or New Found Glory have to do with Punk Rock, Chris.....? -_-
November 2, 200816 yr interesting, although ian dury wasnt 'punk'.. :) True mate, it's more "reggae/ska" innit...? Certainly Dury was part of the Punk/Post-Punk generation, but his music was more towards the "2-tone" Ska revival along with the likes of Madness and The Specials...
November 2, 200816 yr Author ..And, er, what the fukk does Pop/Rock, lame-ass cr@p like Sum 41 or New Found Glory have to do with Punk Rock, Chris.....? -_- you got quite a fair point, they are punk in a sense but more 'pop punk' im a bit ashamed having Sum 41 there to be honest, bit of a guilty pleasure interesting, although ian dury wasnt 'punk'.. :) True mate, it's more "reggae/ska" innit...? Certainly Dury was part of the Punk/Post-Punk generation, but his music was more towards the "2-tone" Ska revival along with the likes of Madness and The Specials... Dury is just as punk as 2-tone artists, who were punk acts in there own right. infact i have a Specials track coming up.

November 3, 200816 yr Dury is just as punk as 2-tone artists, who were ounk acts in there own right. infact i have a Specials track coming up. 2-Tone/Ska revival is associated with Punk in the sense that it was a spin-off movement.. Same as Goth (which was spawned by Siouxsie Sioux, Joy Division, The Cure and The Damned, all of which started as Punk or Post-Punk acts), same as New Romantic.... 2-Tone acts were very much influenced by the reggae/ska elements that bands like The Clash and Public Image Ltd were putting in their music.. I have no issues with you putting Ska tunes on this chart, but I sincerely hope that you place them in relation to their historical context... In fact, I sincerely hope at some point that at least SOME of the following will be featuring in this chart of yours - Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Damned, Killing Joke, The Cure, Joy Division, The Clash, Public Image Ltd, Sex Pistols, Black Flag/Henry Rollins, Dead Kennedys, Crass, The Exploited, The Slits, Iggy and the Stooges, New York Dolls, Fugazi, New Model Army.... Of course, not to forget a few contemporary acts - System of a Down, Amen, Gallows

Many of those bands do feature, not all but quite a few.
