The End Of HMV
i went into HMV in London (Leadenhall) today and it was packed! 25% off most things although I generally stream movies on my network now so CD's are no use, same as music - I would need to copy the file to use on my iPhone. Read an article in the paper about someone who advised HMV for 20+ years and they said to the then CEO the risks and he ignored them. Management pay themselves huge salaries and if they do a bad job just retire and let others deal with the fallout.

The End Of HMV
such a shame to see retailers that I grew up with and have been a solid part of the high street for such a long time now go into decline. But this is the problem, so many management know how to run the day to day operations of a company and say the right things but have no idea how to move it forward. HMV was left behind by the move online, there business model does not stand up to online competition as you have no need to go into the store to touch the CD/ DVD/ Game/ Console as you can get these online and its not like clothes where often you need to try them on, with HMV products they are commoditised and will fit; you know what to expect. With anything like this, if you dont accept and embrace the change your business will suffer and inevitably fold. I dont see a problem with everything going digital as long as its a fair playing ground and new music as well as X Factor releases are able to find their own space.

Auto-playing Adverts
some are based on just impressions, others (majority) on clicks. But if you dont see any ads your sure not to view or click!!
-
Auto-playing Adverts
Just spoke to the ad supplier and google ads although can show video does not play music unless you click it... If it happens again please let me know the brand and details of the video. A screenshot would be great!! Also ad blockers are very bad for BuzzJack!! They mean BuzzJack earns less from advertising which we need to pay for the server costs! No server, no BuzzJack!!!!!!

Auto-playing Adverts

Unable to post
no reported issues with the site and generally its because of issues with your internet at that exact point in time. For example if you or someone else is downloading something at the same time you post it can mean the data does not get sent correctly or at all and leads to the issues you are experiencing. Many other reasons such as your ISP is having localised issues but keep me informed here if any further issues!!

Unable to post
so no other forum gives the same issue with long posts? Are you downloading anything at the same time as browsing? What about if you try an online speed test, what results are you getting back? Speed test: http://www.speedtest.net/

BuzzJack Website Downtime
All, at 10:45pm Tuesday 29th May the power to the datacenter our server was hosted in went down. I had not been informed that any work was being done which might cause such an event as normally any failure is covered by a backup generator or redundant line. I only found out about BuzzJack being down at midday on Wednesday 30th and the power outage had corrupted our firewall and other server configs. This means simply logging in and restarting services was impossible and after multiple attempts i brought in a server tech to work on it today. We are back although I am speaking to the hosting company so I can be better informed of any critical work so at least I can prepare for such eventualities. Again apologies for the extended downtime which is very unusual for us and glad to be back :) Phil

Petrol tanker drivers vote to strike!
sure thats rhetorical, there needs to be a minimum level of training. maybe a certified course that they must go on aside from their license - again no idea what this would be. Do we even know what is provided to current tanker drivers? I for sure dont. BUT as ive said with Unite and history it is never about just training, they always push for salary, bonus and pension. They take the angle that the job is dangerous and so you need a risk premium like oil workers do etc. Minimum standards are easy to implement but i will be shocked if it doesnt come down to some kind of risk based premium/ bonus. And then the 45k becomes very relevant and what training/ qualifications you need for this. In the first post of this topic it says on average from one company they pay their drivers 45k, so some under, some over.

Petrol tanker drivers vote to strike!
jerrycan is a terrible idea! Its capacity is over what you are allowed to keep in your house! They are trying to get people to exceed demand now and stockpile so a strike would be less effective... a woman in York burnt herself while decanting with the hob on - some people :P Dont the truck drivers earn 45k? What qualification and skills do you need to be a truck driver (i have no idea), but lets talk about the facts. Are they worth 45k a year, not sure if this is correct and what benefits they get?

Petrol tanker drivers vote to strike!
well with all good intentions and people saying that it is for "health and safety" whenever UNITE is involved it always comes down to salary, bonus and pension. I will be extremely surprised if there is no push on salary, bonus and pension out of this. Happy to be wrong on this but they always start with health and safety and im sure the argument is convincing but looking through history this is only where it starts!

The Budget
its doubtful many moved earnings around like this as many are employees and do not have this control. But lets say this is underestimated by a factor of 2, so there should be twice as much thats still 2bn which is very low still... and at the same time it is anti competitive with other places in Europe. Even at a low level have you ever seen the difference a good manager compared to a bad manager makes in a team? Now scale that up to decision makers such as CEO's and board executive members. If you dont compete on the same playing field for the worlds talent you will get the worse manager and industry across the board will suffer. Mansion tax is a seperate issue but not everyone living in a big house has masses of wealth. In my view income is a better means as well as stamp duty and making it more robust (like the govt plans) by introducing a tax on buying through an offshore company (15%)
