BuzzJack Reviews - Online!
hmm ok. What do you think this should say to make it more transparent?

BuzzJack Reviews - Online!
i wanted the rating to be for the actual single / album (not one persons interpretation of it). So the thumb up / down are your view on the peoples review posts and then rating is for how you rate the single/ album. If there was a rating for review posts as well as the thumbs this would duplicate?

Personal Message Spam
cannot risk someone's account being hijacked and then being used for spam... when I have the reviews system bedded down I will be looking at ways to extend some of the normal member account functionality.

BuzzJack Reviews - Online!
yes preview is important for some and I will add it in the next version. The link problem is a headache I tried to look at previously (as all our non forum system use it). Artist pages, front page news etc all have this same problem! YouTube tags should work:

BuzzJack Reviews - Online!
For as long as I can remember people have requested for a reviews system to be made on BuzzJack. I made it a commitment this year to develop and complete and thanks to everyone who has given feedback and critique during this time! The current system is setup specifically for Singles and Albums although there is scope for this to be expanded in the future. http://www.buzzjack.com/reviews/ Reviews Team Most of the reviews system is automated but we feel its important to have a core team who can make sure everything is running smoothly and contribute actively to the review posts! Due to this we are setting up a new staff group with shiny (still to be decided) users online colour! If you believe you would have an interest then please contact thisispop: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showuser=72. No spam please Reviews System Functionality Ability to add reviews for a specific artist or create your own artist on the fly for your review!Ability for multiple review posts to be added to any one reviewAbility to comment on a reviewRate system for members to rate a reviewThumb up and down system for each review post so you decide which review post is promoted to the "main" review!Dynamic search functionality to search for any review or GenreSearch engine friendly URL's so your review is more likely to be well placed on search engines. I hope you enjoy and get full use out of this new system. I will be integrating it with the rest of the site - front page, AF pages and AF forums in the coming weeks. Reminder to contact thisispop with all Reviews Team applications!

New iTunes Ads
will look at the front page box tomorrow. The bottom right link on the forum index and forum page (viewing a forum) are now play.com. Google has a limit of 3 ads per page but doesnt mind you having different ad providers (these are commision based)! I will do some more work on the iTunes feed after the first post for guests over the weekend. Incredibly hard and there is no real tool to make it easy!

BuzzJack Downtime - 09/12/09
All apologies for the downtime today. I have layed out below the root cause: This afternoon the datacenter that we have our server with had a power outage which immediately shut off power to BuzzJack. This locked and corrupted our database due to the immediate shutdown of our server. As people visited the site during the day the corrupted database was unable to display posts and topics and continually shut down under the strain and then restarted. We are now fully back with no loss of posts and another page added to the "BuzzJack Emergency Document"! This will ensure that if this ever happens again we have a step by step procedure to get us back online faster :). Thanks, Phil

2012
saw this also about a week ago and parts where good but overall dissapointing. Had to many tick the box moments; people get in car just as the earth crumbles beneath them, people get in plane just as earch crumbles below them -- these just in time scenes happened throughout and became laughable after a while. Chiwetel Ejiofor's (the black scientist) speach at the end to "pursuade" everyone to open the arc was cringeworthy to say the least! Guy from the zombie movie was funny and allowed for some refreshment but wont buy the DVD.

Reviews Forum.
the reviews system is in fact nearly complete. Adding reviews, editing, commenting etc are all complete, I have been speaking with the moderators for feedback. Now working on some final additions and this will be ready in the next few weeks :) I always said before this would be worked on the AF system had to be changed. In addition we have moved servers and now manage our own server box which takes time to come upto speed with.

Afghan War "Unwinnable"
this isnt part of their job and they are actually renumerated with a bonus. As the word bonus is synonymous with greed in the current climate maybe this should have been called overtime? There might be exceptions but the PM is looking into the amount awarded. My wife is half Greek and they have this in Greece. It helps some people in society but for others its really a drag on productivity, not everyone is meant for armed service! Something different is CCF (combined cadet force) which I did at school and you go on CCF camps at for example army bases and take part in army exercises (march and shoot), as well as having a regular weekly CCF 2 hour slot. That is acceptable while still allowing people choice.

Afghan War "Unwinnable"
agree with this although its a tough call. If you dont pay some of these people they will leave. Not to forget (it is a contentious point) but they are mostly better educated than their field based colleagues. Was reading an article and there are a lot of people who go into the army as field officers with no education, just as a last resort. The same people say they should be earning more than their £17k (think that was the amount I read). But IMO thats top dollar for these people... when they get more senior and start commanding then they should expect a pay increase, they already have tax allowances. If one civil servant improves for example supply chain effectiveness they deserve to be paid well...

Could you really stomach Tony Blair as EU President?
Saddam was actually killing his own people so while he was around that was the status quo... not to mention their terrible living conditions as he didnt distribute the oil wealth in the country. It will be a long road to democracy as is with all these transitions but cant see how removing Saddam makes him responsible for the loss of life.

Could you really stomach Tony Blair as EU President?
i think anyone in office for 10 years in the modern era with the papers and absolute scrutiny you come under will have tarnishes on their record. But Tony Blair did a lot of good and he could make people believe him, could bring arguing parties together and give consensus. You know for all the issues in politics giving consensus and direction are hugely important. His final commons is definitely worth watching to understand the respect from even other parties: He brings people together and Europe definitely need that. The only problem is PM's of European countries woudnt elect someone who would overshadow them and so will probably look for a less high profile position (which Blair woudnt take anyway)..

Afghan War "Unwinnable"
i have complete confusion on how you can win a war against people who dont even turn up on the battle field. They are trained in back yards and private camps and then one or two pop up every so often to kill a handful of soldiers. It will take a generation to allow a culture change to solve this and I dont see in the mean time anything improving drastically. Even the latest Afghan election was shrouded in talks of cheating and vote rigging. If there really is corruption in the very democratic government that is now in place they need to be left to their own devises. Right now the UK has FAR better things to be spending its money on.

New AF Layout
its in the same area of the Mod CP that you edit the banner :)

News error

Goldman Sachs reignites pay row with 46% rise
i think my points have been fair in the above. In essence im saying that it is not ALL investment bankers in ALL investment banks. Im in no way saying that some people in investment banking dont have to take responsibility for this, BUT there are other reasons. Bonus payments need to be changed and spread out over more years so institutions can claw back the money if the bank underperforms on the back of bad decisions. But if a trader year in year out makes £100 million for you then of course you need to pay them for this. If not they setup their own hedge fund or go to another bank.
