interactive profile will be back - didnt remember everything. No everything wont be going but I want to build from this skin. We had our busiest time every on this skin (both on here and CC) and I am confident we will break that record again with this skin.
Teresa - I am definately looking for an updated banner. I really liked the one you did and the 'We Entertain You' section

Sorry Phil.. You seem to have conntredicted yourself -_-
In the firt Paragraph you seem to have gone on about Not having mods for main forums ect.... Yet when speaking to bence you said that you want to lessen the work for Admin and GM's  Surley if you want that to happen we need More Not less Mods
And what does 'Every desicion doesnt need a buy-in from everyone' mean  Does it mean that You make the desicions and other Admins and GM's are used when needed?
Please read my about first post:
"For main forum mod's, how often will we need moderator's for these? If we need a mod we can add topics or approach people on a case by case basis."
There are many fewer Main forums with much fewer people stepping down so when it comes to applications we will have less! Hope that makes sense.
So, am I right in thinking the whole applications idea has been scrapped and any moderator positions we will only be available to people who actually use and care about the forum, instead of people who see a position open and apply even though they don't use the forum?Exactly :). There is no point reviewing a constant stream of applications with many for forums who do not need a mod or from people who never visit the forum.

Yea I understand the first bit...
But the second bit  Does that mean that there will be no mods for Main forums?
And Finaly what The F**** is going on with the reviews forum -_- Please can someone tell me how long it will be before it comes back up and where it will be  All the clues ive got have been very cryptic.. and I don't understand why I (And other members/Mods) Havnt been told what is going on ;)
On main mods, my point is that we will not need a constant flow of main moderators. There will be times when we do need a mod and we can post advertising the place or even PM suitable people. Makes no sence keeping a 24/7 topic for something as infrequent as that. You dont become a mod by applying you become a mod due to your actions on the site before applying. Those actions get you noticed and as such you will in the most cases be asked to moderate without making a topic about it.
I would like to know if it was agreed by all of the Admins and Global mods....Bence every decision and choice doesnt need buy-in from everyone; however this was discussed. You will see over time we will develop and grow based a lot on the community but also on right decisions made at the right time. I want admins and GM's to have less work to do, if we need a mod we will post for one and if someone sees an area in decline then PM someone - what we do not want it an open ended topic for anyone and everyone to apply.
-
I know that the Mod Applicaiton thread has been closed so nobody can apply for the 'Reviews Forum' but there are other forums, in need of a moderator, and the thread is closed so nobody can apply. Not saying this because I want to, none interest me ^_^
I closed the thread. The reason is as follows:
For AF's I would like to build towards two mods per forum and if someone leaves then it is up to the other mod to promote someone. This is much more community centric and should have very little to do with Global Moderators or Admins.
For main forum mod's, how often will we need moderator's for these? If we need a mod we can add topics or approach people on a case by case basis. This is a much better use of people's time and effort. If we keep a topic open people will apply for everything and anything (ive seen it 1000 times) and it will be the Global Mods and Admin's who will be taking up there time sorting out something that in one case should be community generated and on the other very infrequent.

but he has the tendency to sacrifice the 'conscience' element in favour of following his instincts of producing something slick and typically Hollywood
The film is emotive and has some amazing acting in it, I still dont see the point of such off topic divergancies - even some talk of Japanese films I believe I read above?
I will keep my views to just my personal optinions as its ludicrous how off topic things get

when I came to this community (a couple of years before I setup BuzzJack) all that was here where a couple of charts forums, couple of genre forums and a lounge!! Even if the depeche mode forum doesnt get the required votes give it time and you will find more people take notice and vote for it the next time the poll is setup.
I know very little about the chart but have a big interest in music and entertainment as a whole (movies, TV etc). I hope that the site does offer more than the chart (I believe it does) in our movies, TV, reality TV and graphics sections!

I get a bit irritated by these films which are supposedly about Africa/The Third World, but are told from a First World perspective... Should we really have films which are supposed to be shedding light on the socio-political situation in Africa but continually use white characters as our cinematic guides... Would "Blood Diamond" have really suffered as a film if it had been completely 100% about the Djimon Honsou character and his struggle alone..? I dont think so, in fact I think it would've added more authenticity to proceedings... Having a high profile actor such as Leonardo Di Caprio in the film completely alters the film's ideological stance imo...
I much prefer "Hotel Rwanda", that film's credentials as being a more true African story are much more sound imo because it centres almost completely around the Don Cheadle character...
hehe before I even came in the thread I knew I would have something like this to read
I saw this film last weekend and its amazing. Really well acted and directed. You dont believe the plight of the third world involves both the third and 'first' world? In fact, have you even seen the film?
This film is completely about the way that the third world is overrun by the first world, the way they use their country for what it can do for them rather than how their natural resource can help out Africa. Leonardo De Caprio plays the perspective of other countries taking from Africa at any cost. If you didnt have this perspective you woudnt be able to see the full picture and it woudnt have had half the effect.
Before I structure this any further, have you even seen the film?

As we grow and improve our server and offerings we need to start paying back some of our server costs! Right now the server costs are over £120 / month and this will only increase with time.
I have added google ads for everyone in various places. We will be providing an option in the coming days to turn off the ads and also something extra (which I believe will be very appealing to members).
This is a necessary evil so we can push forward with our ambitious plans in 2007. I will update everyone again in the next couple of days with some extra info. Stay tuned!

I agree completely, unfortunately there is lack of response on placement from the people ive asked.
My plan is to have a subscription system where you can view the site with no ads. Also debating adding ads after the first post for members (just like for guests) although again its a painfull process getting proper debate going about this essential step towards financing our even increasing server bill.
Skin Change
in Forum News and Help
the skin for me is important - and I would have had to do a fair bit of work on the old one to get where I wanted it so I have added this one back. The forum height is much less so now it visually fits together better and doesnt drag on as much.
There are many other things added to the site such as the interactive profile which I still want to keep :)
