Sunday Chart Predictions
Many thanks for the great explanation. :) I would be surprised if the 50% drop applies at the end of the week. Perhaps MW 'jumped the gun' a little with 'the end is nigh'? ;)

Sunday Chart Predictions
I need some help from the 'regulars' with the following MW statement; "After getting off to a slow start last week, Michael Jackson’s Epic- and posthumous-released Michael continues to under-perform: it is destined course to slip out of the albums top five this Sunday with sales plummeting by more than 50% week-on-week." Now, I assuming that MW is comparing MJ's sales from this Monday with last Monday? Wouldn't last Monday's results have included 'pre-sales' order with Amazon/HMV/Play etc. - making last Monday probably his best day for sales? Isn't it normal for the 2nd Monday (with no 'pre-sales) to be down on the 1st Monday? I could understand it a little more if this MW statement came out on the 2nd Friday/Saturday, but it seems a little ludicrous to come out with this so early.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to say "I put £200 on Take That to be Xmas No.1 ALBUM".

Sunday Chart Predictions
I don't claim to be an expert on the charts, and I don't really care one way or another who gets to number one - I don't watch X-Factor and I don't know who (or what) the Trashmen are - but I already know who is getting the number 1 single, and album, just by looking at the bookies odds. People will say that the bookies don't always get it right, and that would be true in a two horse race where the odds are pretty much 'Even', but when they are offering odds of 10/1 on 'The Trashmen' and only 1/33 on the 'X-Factor' chappie (on a Thursday!), then it's 'GAME OVER!'. P.S. - I put £200 on Take That to be Xmas No.1 ALBUM this monday at 1/2 (they are now 1/10!), based on my 'investigations', so I will be picking up £300 next week! :dancing:

Sunday Chart Predictions: Part 3
If you listen hard enough, you can hear the fat lady 'warming up'. Joe will be number 1 on Sunday without any doubt at all, and that was always going to be the case in my view.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FOR XMAS NUMBER 1.
You seem to have issues buddy. Too much 'rage' I would say. If listening to RATM does that to you, I will stay well clear. P.S. Normally people who like to come across all 'angry' and 'hard' on internet forums are normally just frustrated. Are you 'not getting any'? Or are you a 'ginger' who has been bullied their whole life? Either way, stop being a twat about it and grow up.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FOR XMAS NUMBER 1.
Can someone tell me who 'forced' RATM to sign with Sony? Or have I got that wrong?

Sunday Chart Predictions: Part 2
This is what I'm talking about. The bookies will stop taking bets on Joe soon, for fear of losing too much money. They will still take plenty off you if you want to bet on RATM though. My bookie has just e-mailed me and said he will give me a special Xmas bet (for a good customer) of 10-1 on RATM. Yeh right! -_-

Sunday Chart Predictions: Part 2
And I would counter that with; I've never met a poor bookie. Seriously though, when it comes to predicting sport it's a much harder thing for the bookies to get right, but even then they manage it a large percentage of the time. When it comes to something that they can predict with evidence (daily sales patterns), and experience (Xmas number 1 betting for many years), they will get it right 99% of the time. For us punters, it's all about guessing the right outcome (following the bookies 'favourites'), but getting the best odds at the right time. I'm going to find the best odds available on Joe, and make myself some easy money. :yahoo:

Sunday Chart Predictions: Part 2
He's giving 3-1 at the moment on RATM Richie, but I expect it to be at least 5-1 by Friday evening. I know a lot more about betting than I do music, I have to admit, but my bookie does not offer 3-1 on a 2 horse race, ever! 1-4 on Joe shows how sure he is at the moment and, don't forget, that is with RATM being in the lead as we speak! ;)

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FOR XMAS NUMBER 1.
RATM have no real chance of beating X-Factor to number 1 this week. I have just spoken to my bookie, and he is only offering 1/4 on Joe. This, in a 2 horse race, is what's known as a 'dead cert'. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but I think most music 'insiders' already know this but they want to keep the 'illusion' alive. After all, if they can keep the hype going, it's more money in the pocket for them isn't it?

I don't like X Factor, or shows like it, and I don't watch them. However, I think the attempt to get RATM to number 1 is just as 'manufactured' as anything that Simon Cowell as attempted over the years. He's probably more pissed he didn't think of it himself! Instead of contributing to the success of 'over-hyped', 'manufactured', circus events like XFactor vs RATM, I choose to support neither. That's the only way I can be sure I am not putting money in the pockets of the people that really benefit from all of this hysteria - Cowell & Sony (or some other mega rich corporation).

Chart Soundclash: Joe McElderry vs. Rage Against The Machine
It would be interesting to see a yearly total album sales (for the last 17 years) for RATM. I had heard of them before last week - just - but I didn't know they were still "popular after 17 years". Could anyone point me to a link that shows how popular they have been since 1993?
