That was… an episode of Drag Race. Why did we have a filler improv challenge at top 4, let alone when we had an improv challenge last week. I also feel like they critiqued Juicy for one thing then praised Myki for the same, why was she not allowed to do a character, I know it was a far less successful example but still. They praise Myki so much for character work and yet when other queens do a character they’re told to be themselves?! As we’ve seen juicy be vulnerable and fight, I’d argue we’ve seen more of her personality than we have Myki. I am kind of just like “oh cute” for whoever wins out of Myki and Darlene, I’d prefer Darlene tbh. I think her “do whatever” uniqueness, whilst it has been a bit frustrating in some challenges, is a strength when against Myki who really just feels almost engineered to be good at Drag Race. And I enjoy Myki, she’s great, I’m just not that excited when we’ve seen it all before. Darlene is such a joy and I feel like that joy and sense of self is exactly what drag needs in this climate. She has a weird mind and thinks of things nobody else would and that is way more exciting to me. Plus she has done really well this whole competition, there isn’t a week you could have eliminated her bar maybe the improv if you stretched to save Jane as I said last week. It would be kind of camp if they just crowned Nini now I don’t even really care lmfao like yes diva lipsync your way to the final then destroy everyone in the final lipsync

I don’t think they will change any movesets, Close Combat is enough for it tbh, annoyingly it doesn’t have Roost but it will be a really good bulky/fast attacker which is quite unique In itself. Decent support in doubles too as it gets Tailwind, it seems like it will have good role compression given it is decent in many facets. I didn’t expect it to be one of the big players from the new megas but it is an excellent ability for it.

I find it so funny that people review bomb purely because they don’t agree with an elimination💀 and like yeah it wasn’t the best challenge ever but there’s no way it’s worse than basically all of GAS , AS1, or the evil twin episode from season 10.

The way if they judged Juicy fairly and they didn’t do two improvs at the end to try and snipe her, she could have been a cunty four wins 2-3 bottoms winner Like give her wins for RDR Live, Talent, either makeover or Karen improv, then she wins the top 4 music video they would usually have, plus bottoms for politics, the roast and MAYBE the Rusical but I think Discord and Athena were both worse, with Jane gone I think she’d have a compelling and interesting arc, especially with her first win being from Myki helping her, being tied to Athena and Mia, then after they after they both went finding her own feet and getting two more wins near the end after struggling a bit. Idk if it couldn’t be Jane, I really do think Juicy had a compelling winners’ arc, something the top 3 really lacks imo, and a storyline that’s not really happened before.

The Home datamine has revealed two new abilities, Piercing Drill (basically a budget version of Unseen Fist which does 1/4 damage instead of ignoring protection entirely) and Spicy Spray (burns the attacker after Scovillain takes damage, physical or special). Spicy Spray would be crazy on any Pokémon of actual bulk instead of something as frail and slow as Scovillain lol Edit: we also seem to have Thermal Boost (1.5x boost to Fire) for Pyroar and some kind of upgraded Bad Dreams for Darkrai (which causes 1/4 damage rather than 1/8 to sleeping foes), as well as Dark Current for Eelektross which we don’t know the effect of yet. The big winners seem to be Staraptor with Contrary and Golisopod with Tough Claws, although I kind of wanted Water Bubble or Heatproof for it lol Lucario and Zeraora basically have no ability as they seem to have Prankster and Speed Boost respectively despite already both being 150+ speed?!

They really need to lean into Elaine as just light comic relief, but not forced too much, like her and Cindy’s frenemies thing at the Albert worked really well and I actually think her and Ian as a pairing would be interesting to explore. Also I am SCREAMING at Bea’s AI voice plot 💀

Episode 14 is a Myki and Darlene double win!

A drag queen should be able to lipsync though that’s their bread and butter. Especially nowadays, queens are working up through the clubs and nine times out of 10, they’re working the crowd with a lipsync. Moreso in America I know there’s a lot of live singing or comedy in the UK scene but that’s another topic entirely. And Jane can tbf, but there’s no point in the whole format if you just add up arbitrary points on imaginary spreadsheets. There has to be stakes to the competition, otherwise do we just let a front runner completely flop design challenges because they can’t sew and they get a pass because their track record is good. I mean the producers’ thing they can do is just put the queen low and not have them lipsync if they really want to save them or don’t want to risk it, and Jane didn’t totally bomb enough for that to not be an option. So I think mostly they just weren’t arsed about Jane despite how well she did and this season didn’t have a big shock moment or anything like that, so they really grabbed the chance to have that moment, and it’s kind of worked because the season hasn’t been discussed as much as this until now. The problem for me is there’s nobody with a winners’ edit and using the best queen as a kind of sacrificial lamb for a big moment is not it really. But then obviously I guess it is reality tv first and foremost and this is gonna happen.

The weeks of spiralling how tf Jane gets eliminating ending up in…. That is high camp

Jane’s elim was… just sad?! Like she just kinda did meh and deserved to go based on this episode, but I was kind of expecting a crash out or like she got in her head and quit, and it just came to… this. At this point of the top 5 of the competition, there has to be stakes and it does only take one bad week to have you going home. That’s the point of having a lipsync, it’s the last fight to stay. But it just feels sad, and a little disappointing. Maybe that’s the curse of being a spoilerina, we’ve all been theorising for so long what could happen for her to be eliminated as the front runner and it just kind of…. happened? I can’t believe production didn’t use it more and make a huge moment, of course the usual parts of the fanbase act like track record is the be all and end all and Jane should just get a free pass so I guess they got the uproar they wanted. But this is unprecedented, other than Keta Minaj on Holland 2 and obviously a couple of AS examples like DeLa (self elim ofc) and Manila, this is the only time someone with 3 wins hasn’t made the finale. It feels…. Just sad really, I am gutted for Jane, but it’s the format. Boiling everything down to track record and PPE defeats the purpose, why even have a lipsync if people just get passes for having enough wins or weeks in the top? It’s a shame and it deflates the season but it’s one of those episodes where she just… flunked sadly. In my opinion Nini is boring as f*** and it’s kind of insane that she’s outlasted Jane but… fair’s fair. They were the two worst in the challenge and Nini demolished her in the lipsync, they can’t just go “Jane Jane wait!! Juicy did great in the challenge but she has more bottoms so she can go instead :)” I mean feasibly they could have put Darlene in the bottom instead of Nini and Jane could have beat her, she has THE most charisma and I love her but I am kind of tired of her doing she wants for challenges and it’s fine because we love her lol. It definitely worked for the roast but I think this was such a specific improv prompt and she didn’t hit it and I don’t think Juicy for example would have got away with that. As an aside, Juicy kind of won this for me and arguably the makeover. 4 wins 4 bottoms would be camp as f***. I’m trying to go through my judging now and see how retroactively to save Jane lol

Incineroar didn’t have Knock Off at the start of gen 8 (it got it as a transfer move with Home compability) so I do think it will be fine and it may even get it back with gen 10 or something. I’m surprised they did it since a lot of the changes seem to be making the game more fast paced and that was a great tool for progress and momentum for Incineroar. Tepig is one of my fave starters, but Emboar being shafted is lowkey so funny, like not even idk Supreme Overload, they just give it the most generic ability possible when I think it would already struggle to find a place on a team. Lower tier in Smogon singles I guess, that’s about it. Mega Meganium’s glow up from the original is mental, love that for her when regular Meganium has been the weakest starter for over quarter of a decade. Fire coverage with Weather Ball, instant Solar Beams, 75% healing from Synthesis?!

She’s the most Down Under queen ever lowkey lol, like yeah she’s competent but I am baffled at her completely dominating that way. Really that is basically Tia from UKvTW2’s run, I just don’t see it for her over Jade, Michael or even Flor, who just have a bit more charisma and spark. Even from that run I’m getting “professional” edit, right down to losing basically all the lipsyncs but Michelle did love her and I can so trolley see a storyline of her winning in the end after losing to Michael twice through the season.

Michelle saying they needed to have basically the same outfit was crazy, who tf goes out in exactly matching outfits with their family? I didn’t really disagree with the placements, maybe Jane could have been bottom over Discord but as camp as she is, it was kinda Discord’s time to go, she hasn’t stood out at anything bar maybe Snatch Game, but I do think both Jane and Nini were worse than her this week. I agree though the makeover is often either just have a shock unfair elimination or get rid of whoever has the worst track record and they use the fact the criteria is ambiguous to do whatever. And honestly I’m not really arsed someone who did as mid as Discord in basically everything was the “victim”, but the criteria of what they want should be clearer. Like sometimes a really basic makeover will win (Plane Jane was one, and Priyanka on CAN1) as long as it’s done well, but other times of something isn’t enough they’ll criticise it? Is it the makeup they care about more, the outfits, the story, whether the partner was comfortable? It’s almost just a free space “story” episode. Which is fine but it annoys me that it’s always the makeover and the criteria for the judging is so out of whack. However, on a slight tangent, I think “story” is important controversially and sometimes there does need to be a little “fiddling” for the good of the season. Take season 13, everyone knows Gottmik deserved bottom for the dancing disco thing challenge but they could not lose a big name and front runner so early, plus they had the golden opportunity to have Kandy and Tamisha lipsync since they had blown up at each other. That doesn’t really explain why they didn’t put Gottmik low but I think it was kind of so hard to justify her not being bottom that they couldn’t give her critiques and her sway with it lmfao. Another opposite example for me is Monique not winning the design challenge in season 10, like she was so far ahead of the ones who were in the top I almost feel like they couldn’t justify not giving her win with critiques so they just brushed her aside in the safe girls so everyone would forget about it.
