There was a black president for 8 years, still nothing changed. It's not as simple as "get rid of Trump" or even get rid of the Republicans, whilst of course Trump and the Republicans being in power doesn't help and he is the absolute worst, it is not gonna change decades, well hundreds of years of attitudes, and the same timeframe filled with pain, loss and oppression for the black people who have truly had enough. There needs to be systematic change, there's deeply ingrained atttudes that shouldn't be there but they're not gonna change overnight with peaceful protests that are going to achieve absolutely nothing.
I am so so angry viewing all of the injustice and depravity from these so-called "heroes" from across the pond, I can't begin to imagine how it must feel for the people atually living it. It's certainly not my fight to shape but it is my fight to get involved in and use my voice at the very least.

Honestly, I am appalled, heartbroken and so disappointed at the attitudes of some of the posters on this site. If someone doesn't like a song you do not come for them. They are entitled to their opinions!
Ed of.
Teaaaaaaaa, I kinda just ignore this game but happened upon all this going on and like... it's ranking songs on the internet? It's not gonna change their opinion to throw essays at them about how awful it is not to like a song just because you have the nostalgia for it or it's one of your favourites.
It doesn't take anything away from you enjoying that song or it being special to you, why bother chasing up negativity and causing a storm over it?

I was elated for Jaida! I had a feeling she'd win but then with Gigi's performances I thought maybe she had it. I'd have been happy with any of the 3, but it just felt so right for Jaida.
I do have to say Gigi's Take On Me was outstanding, possibly the best performance anyone gave all season. But for me it was all about the raw talent Jaida has, she had the least to work with in terms of her set up but made the most of it. A lot of Ggi's talent comes from the wealth and privelege that afforded her beng able to put on a proudction at home like the Take On Me lipsync, and when the playing field was levelled it showed that Jaida had the most fire and passion to win. I feel like Gigi tends to need either a big performance and production to shine (look at her wins in the Rusicals) or it's her outfits that obviously she has more resources to make, or have made for her, but that's something Jaida always wins out on anyway. Which is fine, it doesn't take away from the fact that she has huge star power, but Jaida just has IT in spades no matter what and she fully deserved the win for that alone. Every time she performs, every time she speaks, every look she wears that she made with her own hands, she just exudes superstar. It says it all than in the lipsyncs where there were split screens, I found it really hard not to be fixated on Jaida.

Honestly while it may be premature to say, I think Rain On Me! It's one of those songs that comes exactly at the right time, and I've been through a lot of shit in my life but the way I try to look at things is exactly that song, you could be totally dry and free of all the stuff that happened, but even if it does rain on you, you come out the other side and you're alive, things won't get the best of me because I've weathered so many storms, so what's another one? It makes me think about my own struggles from the past a lot, but also with what we're all going through right now, it hits home for everyone's situation in the hardest most poignant way yet the most joyful. In a time like this, we've all got to find whatever good we can, that's what I'm clinging to and Chromatica is one of those shining lights!
Definitely relate to Bal a lot on DITD too, sums up a lot of the things I hid for a long time and the fact that music and pop culture (Gaga being one of the absolute biggest examples) was always a medium where I can let it out, express it or let myself feel those things, oftentimes "in the dark" but also on here and eventually I found solid social circles, and I didn't have to explore that side of myself in the dark anymore and hide it away. I guess that relates to BTW too, I used to be so unsure of myself and embarrassed to admit I liked pop music because I wasn't surrounded by people who did, and I thought I'd be bullied for being "gay" for liking it (even though I wasn't sure of my sexuality at that point), but a lot of Gaga's music hits home that message that it's okay to be who you are, love who you are, enjoy what you enjoy, I didn't care anymore and I wore that with pride, it was the Born This Way era that made me change the way I looked at myself and began to be a bit more proud of who I was.

Rob you hit the nail on the head! It's just such an incredible journey that demands you and doesn't let you breathe, because it's all bangers it's just non stop *.*s for me, there's nothing that falls behind with lacking prodution or anything, so it's been hard to pluck what my faves are but....
01 Rain On Me (as said, this is gonna be an all tme fave for me)
02 Stupid Love (has a different vibe from much of the album so it really stands out even more)
03 Alice (THAT CHORUS!!)
04 Sour Candy (grows and grows each listen)
05 Free Woman (love the empowering feel to this, feels like a Gaga classic)
06 Sine From Above (the production *.* The ending is a bit weird but like it's just the ending so it's fine)
07 Enigma (one of those that feels like a grower but instantly hit me hard!)
08 Fun Tonight (I love the sad bop weeping on the dancefloor vibe at the best of the times so Gaga doing it had to be a win)
09 Babylon (a bit too on the nose Vogue but if you're gonna copy a song it may as well be something as iconic as Vogue, so it can't be a bad thing)
10 Replay (lite bop)
11 1000 Doves (I thought this was gonna be the token ballad based on title, but solid)
12 Plastic Doll (bits of this I love and bits I'm hmm on)
13 911(I think this is gonna take a few listens but it's good)

Omg stan Radioactive  That, Fear & Loathing, Blue, Obsessions and Hollywood are her best for me.
01 Electra Heart
02 The Family Jewels
03 Froot
04 Love + Fear
Electra Heart is one of my all time faves, I get that it's not quintessential Marina but she has such an ear for those pop melodies. I just love the whole idea and aesthetic of the era and as an entire package it fits so well together with pretty much no filler bar Valley of The Dolls.
The Family Jewels is probably also in my top 40, a perfect introduction to Marina and all her quirks, still pretty unique and in her own lane to this day.
Froot is great don't get me wrong but it's not got the special palce in my heart the other two do, bar Blue and Happy it doesn't have the same highs but it is a great album and it feel it's how Marina is "supposed" to be or what she wants to be.
Love + Fear was frankly a huge letdown, it's just a really boring and standard album with very few highlights, in fact I can't rememebr the last time I went back to any of the songs. Handmade Heaven is my fave but she's done the same idea sonically better multiple times, just a huge miss of an album for such a consistently great artist :(

I can't see how they would police it anyway, what proof do they have that you only went to say your mum's house and not your mum's house, then your boyfriend's house then your friend's house? Then again they just make everything up as they go so I doubt they even know at this point how they're going to do any of it.
Short of living on your own, everyone is gonna want to see different people. Like my mum is gonna want to see her own friends but then I wanna see my boyfriend, my friends, then there's family outside of the home. I get they can't just go "see who you want" though.
Minneapolis/Black Lives Matter
in News and Politics
Exactly! As white people (even as gay white people as many on here are) we have never ever had to experience anything quite like what black people have for so so long. It's not something I can even get my head around, such systematic racism that's embedded into virtually every aspect of life, that's shaped their whole life. A lot of the time it's small implcit things but they all build up and then you get instiutational racsm and police brutality shaped by the implicit attitudes ingrained so far into society, you get black people murdered in the streets. Someone white who's never experienced anything close simply cannot comprehend it, nor do we have to, but it's certainly not our place to say how someone should or would react when enough is enough.
The violence is largely comng from the police escalating things that don't need to be escalated and I'm sorry but if police are going to carry on with the brutality that is being protested, they are gonna get violence back. When enough is enough, I don't blame protesters fighting fire with fire.
