I kinda love Childlike Things :lol: It doesn’t really fit with the album but whatever, sometimes a song can just be a fun little bop that isn’t anything more. I think overall this might be my favourite album she’s done to date, it is stunning.

I see nothing suggesting Veronica on the discord or spreadsheet, she also has been diagnosed with MS and said a lot of times she wouldn’t do it. She didn’t even do Dragcon afaik. For the Phillipines rep, we could have Minty Fresh or Viñas Deluxe instead of Jade but I see Minty on PH All Strs and honestly probably Viñas too. Viñas if she was on could easily do a Marina as could Jade imo. Honestly… I think one of those two could even be the winner if they don’t want to crown a UK girl again, of this crop I think Jade/Viñas or Kate.

I agree Last Song and The Game are both probably the best songs and probably the best shot Norway have of qualifying but they feel very borderline, could easily be 12th in the semi and just forgotten. A really disappointing bunch of songs when for the last few years they’ve had at least one or two strong contenders besides the song that won. Imagine how Damdiggida, Honestly, Oblivion or Monument would absolutely tear up this field.

Even if we look past the fact it’s completely insensitive to both Mexican culture and trans issues, the film is a mess. It’s like someone put their crazed unfocused dream as a prompt into AI and asked it to make a movie from it. Like yeah it’s somewhat entertaining in terms of being absolutely awful but the most nominated foreign language film EVER?! Conspiracy theories are basically the only way that any of this makes sense :lol: The songs aren’t good at all, the plot is a mess. I suppose at least they actually cast a trans actress and she’s the first trans nominee for an Oscar, that is a historic moment to take away from all this. But I don’t think it’s a deserved nomination and the fact they cast a trans actress is about the only thing they got right about any of representing the trans experience. And I don’t care if that is “woke”, at a time like this for the transgender community, the last thing anyone needs and the very last thing we should be rewarding is a trans film as clumsy and tone deaf as this. And that’s not even mentioning thr songs “hello nice to meet you I’d like to know about sex change operations :)” “my dad smells like guacamole :)” idc if they’re supposed to be “comedy”, yeah they’re funny because none of the cast can sing and they’re just random as f*** not because it’s a well written musical.

Hugely disappointing, utterly trite and I agree I am really baffled as to why she has gone in this direction. It doesn’t even sound like something that is meant to appreciate pop music or whatever, I wouldn’t mind her just writing good pop music because I know she’d do thst justice. This is giving me X Factor New Zealand winners single that went unreleased when the contestant didn’t win. I can’t fathom how she has gone from such a unique sonic landscape and clear vision with Prioritise Pleasure, one of the best and most striking albums of recent years, to… this. If the rest of the album is like this or on this level, it will be one of the biggest fall offs in music for me.

Emilia Perez is astoundingly terrible really and I cannot fathom how it’s nominated for anything let alone Best Picture. Zoe Saldana is about the only good thing about the entire mess so I’m not against her nom I suppose. Enjoyable for being a complete mess in a camp way but I truly truly am baffled at all the awards love for it. Obv rooting for Ari and Cynthia, but Mikey Madison and Demi Moore would both be fantastic Best Actress winners.

Thank GOD, awful song and I do think it would have won. I don’t see Erika losing now, it’s got enough of that silly fun vibe UMK loves to reward but also is just a great pop song.

I’d keep an eye on Flor tbh, she lives in the UK and speculation is that no Down Under queen would be on just because Down Under All Stars films soon but it would make no sense imo for her to fly back to New Zealand just for that instead of doing UK, I’d love to see her on. I don’t think it will be that set in stone as they’re only just filming UK7 and this is after. I think some of the detective work is just assuming someone not having a gig is a sign they’re on, I just don’t see some of these being cast but I kind of like it! I think it’s boring if it’s a cast like say season 1 where it’s just obvious UK girls. This actually feels like a vs The WORLD. Naomy, Serena and Divinity are literally the most random picks and some of the last I’d think of for their franchises, but I kind of love that, vTW should be kinda random like that I think it’s more interesting. Plus honestly there’s not enough UK girls I even want to see back to do a full UK AS :lol: I’m hyped to see Fontana! Other than Vanity she was my GAS pick for Sweden. Also adore Cara Melle, Kate Butch feels like she will be the typical UK girl who wins, if we assume the same similar challenges to UKvTW2 she possibly could falter at the dancing thing? I could see Cara, Kate and Jade in the final. My money is on Jade if anyone else other than Kate, Ru is going to LIVE for her. I agree Kahanna could do well, other than Jade (who is chaotic and unfocused) the international girls are not comedy focused at all and she did give it a good go on AS8 so if she gets a bit more confidence with it I think she could do fine. Curorsry guess at something like: Top 4: Kate, Cara, Jade, Kahanna 5th Fontana 6th Mariah 7th Serena 8th Joe Black 9th The Only Naomy 10th Divinity Honestly I still can’t see Ru f***ing with Joe Black at all so I see them as an early out, all three episodes they competed in being ELIM would be camp. Serena was pulled on Mexico so I think she can do ok but I don’t see what Divinity or Naomy are doing against this cast, perhaps they will surprise.

I’m deeply obsessed with mother Onya, she has IT and it’s insane to think she hasn’t even been doing drag that long!! There’s such a unique spark to what she does, like Symone or Jaida level where everything they do is just elevated because there’s that natural born to drag charm. Like the judges said, technically she didn’t have the best outfit but she will makes you believe that she did and not many queens can sell an outfit as perfectly as that. That was a great design challenge though, Sam, Arietty, Lydia and Hormona all ate that too. This season is going to be great I think, so much natural drama happening and none of it feels like it’s been stirred or pushed or forced, like we had Jewels and Onya, everyone still kinda hates Hormona, Acacia catching strays, Joella being iconically delusional, I’m living.

No shade but I had to scream when the main Drag Race Reddit said she had disappeared because she was getting ready to be a gag contestant for UKvTW :rofl: It’s kicking off as Horacio and Lawrence Chaney have basically insinuated she’s lying and something went on as they were with her and Leexa Fox in Vegas and something happened then they all got blocked and Mera vanished from the internet. She was absolutely obsessed with Horacio I don’t like the sound of what people are insinuating :/

Agreed, lived up to Persona an Atlus RPG in every way. Incredible story, an impeccably crafted world, and really fun class/levelling mechanics that actually made you want to grind and get new skills/classes.

I think whichever way it went was gonna feel a bit anti climactic, they all felt feasible as finalists (although I still got nothing from Virgo all season, so maybe not her lmfao) but they all felt like they lacked something in terms of a winner, whether it was personality, overall spark or in Makayla’s case a rocky performance on the season. But for me I can’t think of a more forgettable/bland/barely there winner than Virgo in terms of storyline and her presence in the episodes. I think at times CDR really focuses on twists and drama and forgets about the actual queens.

Mid selection, Ich Komme is definitely the best one, really like it on first listen. It feels a bit Kaarija, with the chants and techno influences, in a good way. Easily the best pick they could go for, I think it has a lot of potential.

I’m finding it utterly insane that they’ve killed off two people in sienna’s family unit in order to kind of… refresh her family unit? There is absolutely no need to have basically brought back Patrick now Jez is a serial killer and thus a villain. I think it would have been nice for Sienna to have a “normal” family unit, but really Ethan/Dilly/Liberty sufficed for that. I don’t see what the show gains from Patrick’s evil twin being a serial killer. And to just have Sienna casually like oh well :) what on EARTH?! Not to mention the ending of the JJ/Frankie storyline which has been a highlight of the show this past year (of which there aren’t a huge amount…) being pushed to the side for that rubbish. Sad news today also as Diane Langton (Nana McQueen) has died :(

I started Dandadan today and wow, it is absolutely incredible and the most an anime has instantly grabbed me in ages.

We basically only have Vue, there is a small Odeon in town and some independents that show certain films so I go to those if they are showing things I like, the Vue not far from me is decent. They closed Showcase in town which was by far the best but we’re getting a new Odeon this year apparently so we’ll see. Vue by me is fine anyway and with O2 it’s cheap as anything as well, it’s not the most bougie and I don’t think they’ve touched it in about 10-15 years lmfao but it does the job for the price. Popcorn is absolutely f***ing rancid in all forms like eating polystyrene 🤢

If that did just happen, killing Dilly off is one of the biggest mistakes they’ve made since this show came back and that is no mean feat :lol: I am wondering if the purported serial killer storyline is Jez rather than Martha or both of them even… I expect one or both of them did Jez and Patrick’s dad in, which is just giving Breda McQueen all over again.

Macy Gray actually did the same thing on the Australia season as well :rofl: She was fine in America where she somehow made the final despite being the most obvious voice ever
