Also yeah it defintely needs time, I'd be fine with them running it every year if they were as great as AS2, but I don't know why they feel the need to put in shit and twists and shenanigans. It's not a format that needs that, I mean a bunch of drag queens competing in itself is just drama, as shown by the fact it was great for years without twists and shit. It's never fun or dramatic (with the exception of the first lipsync for the crown which I actually did that but that's probs bc I liked Sasha well enough that I didn't mind her winning), particularly when it ends with a damp squib like a double crowning or ends with a top 2 of Trixie and Kennedy who had zero and one legacy wins respectively :')

It just feels like such a waste of a season, the fact they dragged it for a few weeks where the competition went nowhere with the roast episode having no elimination, then Latrice coming back, then Valentine going as she would have in the roast anyway.... And then to just do whoever was the "actual" winner dirty by having what felt like a rushed tie decsiion just kind of put the cheery on top. It was a great season in places but this just makes it feel pointless. Even if it was actually Monet on the basis of tonight, fine, I think I'd just prefer they did that and actually had a winner. Where was this energy for Shangela?

 

What dirt does Monet have on the producers?! I totally understand that she won that final "challenge" and lipsync, but it's just the fact that throughout the season, they really hammed up Monet's praise, inflating her track record to fit a narrative. Even tonight, going through all their journeys, it felt like they really went OTT on Monet's praise and I just do not get it, I'm not seeing it. I think she's a great queen and I have nothing against her, but I've really not seen 1/10th of what the judges have been harping on about all season.

 

The final challenge was HORRENDOUS anyway, they need to stop letting Todrick do these because he is so extra treating it like it's a Beyonce arena show, and what was that mix of Super Queen?! I think anything was gonna be a letdown with that behind it :lol:

Sam Smith goes right through me, he just always sounds really whiny even sometimes on "bangers" like Promises so even the songs are good (that, La La La, Latch) it's still brought down a bit.

Jon: well this is a letdown... I was never a fan but him mixed with some Avicii ness could have been a Eurovision winner, this just feels not that different to his others but weaker. I'd still wager that this is winning the whole thing though so perhaps it being forced on me will make it grow.

Rebecka: I'm here for it, but it's not a lot more than a strong but basic bop, it feels like Lisa Ajax or Molly Sanden cast this aside for something better and Rebecka caught it and thought she'd just make do with it.

Omar: not mad at this, I won't go crazy over it though and in terms of FO&O songs, this is nowhere near I Love It.

Lina: every year needs a schlager banger like this *.* Wouldn't be shocked at this sneaking DTF and I wouldn't be mad either.

Martin: makes me feel the same as Andreas' song last week - could have been FAR worse!

Dolly Style: yeah I agree this just isn't there.Verging on embarrassing, but still slightly enjoyable for now for what it is. I doubt I'll go back to it much after though when it inevitably crashes out.

Lovers of Valdoro: it just feels like they heard Dance You Off, and were like ka-ching that's what wins :lol: Not terrible but nothing great, I can see it sneaking AC.

 

Not a great heat, Lina is my favourite but I can see Rebecka growing on me a lot if the performance stands out. Ofc Jon gets the weak af heat to stomp all over, he'd do that no matter what he was in though I agree :lol:

Yeah I'm... really not sold on the song. I was gonna say it's basic but I had no problem with that in terms of The Middle, it's just not grabbing me for whatever reason. I wish the song was as good as the video!

We... really don't need both :lol: I mean I'll watch, on paper it's great as I've said with the AGT series currently, but there's so many reasons why it won't work in theory - especially with last year's panel! If they did manage to get back a good bunch of the biggest/best names and fill the gaps with talented international contestants, it'd be maybe ok, but it's so bad for so long it's gonna take more than that. Also unlike AGT with some viral/really impressive acts, I can't think of many from worldwide X Factor, other than ones I just love for their music :lol: Francesca Michielin or Reigan Derry would kill me off I'd be so excited but they wouldn't light up the viewing figures!

 

Not to mention, part of the reason is that people are tired of so much X Factor, 2 series in one year is only going to accelerate that surely??

I think that episode more than any highlights why 14 episodes is way too many!

I like the split album idea in theory but Miranda Lambert did the same and sonically there wasn't much differentce but it did have a journey each side I guess. I like a I Am... Sasha Fierce kind of split where all the bops are on side and the ballad on the other but I think this'll suit Marina.

i don’t have an issue with anyone making music at any age of any sort, but an artist at 34 singing about the same issues when she was 22 with shoehorned features and songwriting do make you question if it was part of avril’s artistic vision or was pushed by the label.

Agreed, it just seems like that she's being pushed to replicate that Girlfriend/What The Hell/Here's To Never Growing Up kind of sound as that's pretty much all she's had hits with this decade. She can't really peddle the same things as 12 years ago again and again that we've heard 50 times already, especially when the song is as terrible and obviously shoehorned as this. I guess that is just my opinion but... nah just doesn't sit right with me.

I was SO shook Ricky took Tamar to the end tho!! If that didn't cost him the game (he'd have beat Dina), his abysmal jury question segment did :lol: I'm so so shook my pre-season fave actually won, but it could not be more deserved :wub: She gave us entertainment, memes, a bit of hot mess and she played every single second of that game right until the end without f***ing anyone over. I might just be in the euphoria, but she's up with the best female players surely? Incredible social game, she was always there making sure she didn't miss a single beat or a chance to further herself in the game and that's something we really don't see enough of. She had that perfect mix of playing hard but not being aggressive and alienating people. Maybe that's just what I prefer in a player, but she was hot headed enough to be entertained yet clearly the 9 votes speak for themselves, she never let it get in the way of her game and always got it back o ntrack.

 

Plus she's making history as the first black winner, and one eviction vote away from a perfect game, what an incredible player. Also yas at my other fave winning AFP, this season ended perfectly!!

I'd rather it was paced a bit badly and rushed than the absolute drag that we get from normal seasons :lol: If they sorted out the pacing etc., I think they could easily cut the main series down a bit, it may take a couple more Celeb series to make that work though.

 

As for tonight, I'm unsure what to predict, hopefully Tamar comp beasts what will surely be a mental comp for the final HOH and can get to final 2 because she's played the hell out of this season. After Marissa winning last year, I could see any of them winning but that's half the fun.

 

I'm almost certain Tom will get AFP, probably with Ryan and then one of Kandi or Tamar in the top 3 also?

Oh yeah Breastworld was written horrendously, it's good it ended in a double shantay tbh because it would have unfair for anyone to go on that, everyone did their best with horrendous parts. I normally cut the acting challenges a bit of a slack because it's Drag Race it's gonna be campy and hardly going to be an Oscar winning masterpiece, but that took the cake.
