  1. A much better song that Tous les deux but I agree it's missing something. It's like the whole package is there except the song if that makes sense, I love the message and what he stands for but while the song is growing on me, it's just not really doing it for me yet. It's one of those contemporary and safe enough pop songs that I enjoy but I can never get too excited about because it feels like it could go about 10 levels higher.
  2. Surely you're not suggesting it would be *less* bitter if Leave had won by a larger margin?

As Iz said, knowing the country is so stupid to be decisively for it would be awful but I'm often of that mindset. At least if it was a larger loss, it wouldn't be a care of "if only the campaign was managed better" "if only people were more educated". I just feel like those things could easily have swung it, such a near miss just feels a bit worse. Of course any outcome ending in Brexit is bitter enough...

  3. 40 grandson - Thoughts & Prayers

Kicking up the big 40 is a BJSC winner, and a devastatng take on the mass shootings that plague America. It takes aim at the useless yet omnipresent phrase "thoughts and prayers", which really means very little when the government (who are the ones usually using that phrase) do absoltuely nothing about it in terms of gun legislations. "The body count is on your hands" is perhaps the most haunting, striking and raw line of this statement of a song, doing nothing means the government are just as responsible. This is one of those songs that's more than just a song, it's an incredibly important statement that needs to be made, coming at exactly the right time.

39 Shawn Mendes ft. Khalid - Youth

Similar in theme to Thoughts & Prayers, Youth was written about events such as the Manchester bombing at Ariana Grande's concert, and the sense of unity that our generation has in standing against the hate and attacks, and trying to effect a change. It's incredibly hard-hitting in its optimistm and defiance, that no matter what happens and what people try to do, they can't erase people and the love and experiences they share, that's something that's been evident in the aftermath of Manchester and similar events - the worst things in the world can in turn bring out the best in humanity.

38 Mark Ronson ft. Miley Cyrus - Nothing Breaks Like A Heart

The newest addition to this countdown, this would probably be a bit higher if it had longer with me. After a flop with her country effort Younger Now, Miley doesn't actually venture too far back into anything different as this is a glittery country-disco anthem, with the emotion and power of everything she's been through. Her voice shines, as one of the most underrated vocalists of our time, it breaks free of, but is also complimented by, the production.

37 Kacey Musgraves - Oh, What A World

A gloriously gauzy track, this is one of the absolute highs on the album of the year. Kacey herself describes this as the song that set the tone for the record, it melds electronic Daft Punk like influences with her usual country elements, it marvels at realising the beauty of life and the wonder of our world in all the small things we sometimes take for granted. The themes might not be as outspoken or daring as those on say Follow Your Arrow, but they're still hugely important to be aware of.

36 Lady Gaga - Always Remember Us This Way

The first Gaga/ASIB entry in the top 40 is the wistful and loving Always Remember Us This Way. The first song Ally performs for a crowd on her own. Raw and timeless, this feels like it would be Ally's signature song if she was really an artist, while at the same time being such a perfect evolution of a Lady Gaga ballad, it's almost like Speechless or Dope brought up to date and polished. It's intimate and raw, but powerful and explosive, and that's 99% down to the dynamic voice she has, she can sell anything and it makes you feel about 20 different emotions along with her.

  4. I feel like I never gave Just Got Paid the justice it deserved, I was sidetracked by a full album of songs from him, but it is a real bop from start to finish and still feels really fresh now!

Agreed, it keeps getting better and feeling like it's just come out <3

I still totally love YES lmao, it deserved better :(

Poor Louisa, the public just will not give a shit :(

Wasabi was the clear highlight of LM5 for me, felt similarly about Power before so i hope they eventually make this a single too!

I'm All Ears getting on the albums list

Yass 100%, it'd do so well I think like Power because it'd really stand out but it's still pop enough to have wide appeal!

  5. The judges complimenting Monét’s runway was the most baffling part of the epsidoe.

Right?! It looked like something she'd wear on Season 10 and get dragged for, god knows what they were looking at for that and Latrice's outfits to be lauded as an absolute fashion moment.

  6. I'd have probably had Manila top 2 over Latrice based on the runway, plus the fact she seemed to do the whole design pretty much, although I think the comments about her going a bit OTT in the hosting were fair, I'm probably just biased bc I'm so done with Latrice  I'm entirely baffled as to how on earth Latrice won that lipsync though?! She basically moved her arms a bit, rolled on the floor a couple of times and apparently that's worth $10k. I know Trinity's whole old lady shtick was bizarre af but she's just not afraid to make herself look stupid or different, and I love that. She always thinks out of the box when it comes to looks and the way she approaches things, it might not have necessarily fit the song but it was way more memorable than Latrice doing what Latrice does every time she performs.

I'm torn on the actual elimination because Valentina overall brings more but I think it was her who brought Club 96 down because Naomi just wanted to get on with it and Valentina as always was just in her own world flouncing around doing whatever she wanted. That's fine, and it's always entertaining, but for the other person it must be frustrating as hell. I think Valentina is one of those who is an absoltue star and a great queen, but on her own terms, not so much when confined to whatever she has to do on the show. But having said that, Naomi is just... there. She gets hyped up so much by fans for what, having long legs?? She's lovely and all, gorgeous, turns looks, but she doesn't have the star power or power to entertain than Trinity, Manila or Monique do for me. I'd have been absolutely fine with her going.

The actual challenge was.... a choice. It just came across like a crap acting challenge, I'm sure it was a lot of fun for the judges and Pit Crew to be there and actually involved, but it didn't come across that well on TV. It felt like it kinda went on forever, and other than it being funny when Latrice couldn't get in the painting gear, it was hardly entertaining to see them painting walls... There seemed to be a lot that went into the challenge, too much really, and all we saw was a glorified advert challenge really. It was hard for us to judge this challenge, because we didn't see everything and we couldn't feel the atmosphere or the way the club came together.

  7. I have to laugh at Dyson's HQ moving to Singapore because of Brexit, if you had to sum up the hypocrisy of Leave voters and campaigners in one thing to an alien from Mars, that'd be it  f*** up the country, and sod off when it becomes clear it will affect them, leaving everyone else to just drown in the sea of absolute shite.

I'll go with your ludicrous statement in the first quote for a moment. So, because you see a handful of migrants within your one community in the UK, you take one glimpse at them and automatically assume they're either not seeking employment or even in employment? And that justifies the foundations of your whole reasoning for voting Leave?

The cheek and hypocrisy of all of this coming from somebody who is not seeking employment, throwing persistent tantrums about fitness-to-work assessments, receiving financial support from the government in the form of benefits, etc is unbelievable. Your terribly misinformed, self-entitled vote for Leave is not going to deliver any of the wonderful outcomes you anticipate, Chris.

*insert hands in the air Emoji 99 times over*

With all due respect, it is often people on benefits you hear complaining about immigration and using it as an excuse for why they don't get a job, if it's not that they just won't work no matter what. I know it's hard, but if you aren't qualified for jobs or don't bother with them, you absolutely cannot complain that people who are qualified, do bother and work hard have jobs, or at least come to a place where they can look for opportunities. And I'm sure you don't complain when their jobs are contributing towards paying your benefits....

Besides, it's not even just the EU obviously, whenever I hear any explanation for why people voted Leave, it comes across that they saw someone in a burqa in Aldi and decided that all immigrants must go, on the spot, the EU as a scapegoat. And that's part of why this whole thing leaves such a bitter taste, Leave won by such a small margin and all you hear is woefully blind and misinformed people making comments like this as to why they voted Leave, and because they are too ignorant to share a country that's been a melting pot of cultures for so long with anybody else, the next generation are having to bear the tidal wave of everything going wrong. People are all fine to eat the food it gives us, but god forbid they have to sit on a bus next to a mother who tells her child to sit down in Romanian or is talking to her sister on the phone in Russian and they decide immigrants have ruined their community and the whole country.

  8. I get the feeling Miss Vanjie is going to be Eureka'd this season  I'm still 50/50 on whether there was really a need to bring her back, hopefully if she's gonna stick around and most likely be shoved in our faces, she's got something to back it up. Maybe it's just the sort of contrived and meh format of Meet The Queens, but there's already something really really unlikeable about Brooke Lynn Hytes too.

The only ones that stood out to me with their personalities were Nina, Ariel and Silky. Silky is HILARIOUS and just seems so fun, and if done right I really have a soft spot for the campy comedy queens so Nina should be brilliant. Yvie's style is great from what I've seen on Instagram too so I could be here for her.

  9. Reviews are in and they’re all great! Phew. It’s generally 8 - 9.5/10

I so felt your tweet about feeling like it might the reviews might not be so great, so phew  89 on Metacritic is great!

I mean it's basically playing through Disney films so it couldn't go too wrong, I see that most gripes are with the story but I can deal with some story blips if the gameplay is engaging and fun. The story has always been a bit convoluted in places (moreso because of the random spin-offs and sequels etc.), but I've never found the main storyline too be to bad in that respect.
