The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 25th Dec 2009
all that i can say is... i pity the children who will wake up on christmas day to find joe's CD in their stocking... IMO the worst stocking filler of all time...

Billboard HOT 100 - TOP 50
put simply, though, the most popular song of any weeks is the song which is purchased the most. there is no arguing with facts. for the most part, people don't have much of a choice in what gets played on the radio, etc. so billboard does not fairly name the most popular track of the week.

Rage Against The Machine / Joe McElderry
bought rage, like it didn't buy joe, hate it (note - haven't bought any x factor songs, even ones i like)

iTunes Chart: December IV
this lead makes me so much more confident. think about it like this: iTunes makes up for about 80-90% of the chart. which is the equivalent of 80-90% of JOE'S sales. HOWEVER - taking multiple downloads into account, people are using other download sites, such as amazon and play, to purchase KITN. i reckon iTunes is making up... hmm... about 60-70% of the RATM sales?? either way, that lead is probably smaller (in relative terms) than any other download site. all that needs to happen is for this to continue!!

Billboard HOT 100 - TOP 50
agreed. US charts are so unreliable. they are in no way based on popularity. in the UK, you sell most, you go number one. in ireland, you sell most, you go number one. in every other country, you sell most, you go number one. in the US, you sell most, you might get number one, but it all depends if you get played in abundance on the radio!!

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FOR XMAS NUMBER 1.
I have to say Bert, that you did make a rather general comment about RATM without having any prior knowledge of the situation whatsoever. You know nothing about RATM and if you did, you would realise that they won't have an album out in 2010!! In my opinion, the Joe McElderry fans are much worse than the RATM fans... They are so much more ready to attack people who buy KITN because it doesn't 'deserve' number one. Yes guys... Joe McElderry, having gone through four months of singing live with an abundance of publicity, truly deserves that number one spot(!). I don't care if any of the money from KITN goes to Simon Cowell, because the point of the group isn't to become an anti-Cowell campaign, it is to make the Christmas Number One race more exciting!! I don't care if RATM don't get that number one, because at least this week we have been held in suspense over who will get it!! Just to clarify, however... RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE - KILLING IN THE NAME for CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE!! (I can't stand the X Factor, moreso this year with that ridiculous new set-up - first auditions with an audience, then a Sunday Results Show!! First year I haven't watched it eagerly... and I thought Joe was more of a West End guy... Can't see him selling much!!)
