  1. take it up with wikipedia... from the 'poker face' page: Preceded by "Hallelujah" by Alexandra Burke Top selling single of the year (UK) 2009 Succeeded by incumbent from the 'hallelujah' page: Preceded by "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis Top selling single of the year (UK) (Alexandra Burke version) 2008 Succeeded by "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga from the 'top selling single of the year (UK)' page: 2009 "Poker Face" Lady Gaga
  2. on wikipedia poker face has already been listed as 2009's best-selling single
  3. simple answer, no. joe mcelderry will not have a number one single next christmas. i don't even know if he will have a number one single in 2010, unless he performs it on the x factor and the other celebrity act who performs on the same show as him is either 1) not releasing a single that week or 2) rubbish.
  4. lads, i think we're forgetting something... joe mcelderry isn't yet number 1. he shouldn't be included on that list until it's official

I voted for Joe and #5. I don't see RATM selling the same amount as last week. Cheryl is falling on iTunes and, when you take X Factor and charity singles out of the equation, physical sales make up only 2% of the chart. Cheryl's CD will not give her any boost. IMO 3 Words is a bit of a flop... Rubbish song anyway...
  7. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Not having a Christmas Number One will give him a BREAKDOWN??!! He will be Number One next week easily!!
  8. I *HATE* this 'Joe DESERVES number one' attitude. Why?? Lady GaGa spent years singing in bars and clubs before she finally got her shot. Joe was spoon-fed with songs for weeks in a reality TV show. Who truly DESERVES a number one?? With major publicity and, let's face it, no challenges, Joe was given an easy route to the final... He never proved himself as an entertainer - a great singer, yes, but nothing exciting. You watch someone like Lady GaGa come on to the X Factor and, as well as easily being a better SINGER than Joe, she was also better ENTERTAINER by 100000000 times. No exaggeration (:P). Perhaps for the first year... The professionals have been much better than the contestants!!

^^ True. It has kept everyone in waiting and has shown the true colours of many... Joe wasn't such a 'nicey-nice' guy when he slagged off RATM, was he?? Simon Cowell's vain nature was amplified... Would LOVE to see Kirsty at Number 1 next year. Favourite Christmas song OF ALL TIME :D
  10. ^^ Post in RATM Discussion Forum
  11. She went Number 1 in 2008...
  12. Here lads... You may wish RATM to be banned because of multiple purchases. But consider... where is the proof?? Take a look at this: :D Quote: 'An official link with the UK Official Charts company has released a statement today that Joe's single in serious risk of being pulled from the charts. Photographic evidence of people buying multiple copies of the single could grant the single as being dropped from the charts all together. The UK Charts company take this issue very seriously and if enough evidence is found the single could even be canceled after the official chart show result. There are also reports that the X-Factor brand are in serious breach of the chart rules and have been sabotaging things to get their sales up.'
  13. ^^ start
  14. Lady GaGa - Poker Face 100 Lady GaGa - Just Dance 90 Tinchy Stryder - Number 1 80 Cascada - Evacuate the Dancefloor 70 La Roux - Bulletproof 60 Flo Rida - Right Round 50 Pixie Lott - Mama Do 40 Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling 30 Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You 20 Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow 10 Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone -10
  15. The release date for this in the UK is 22nd February 2010. I think the sheer power of having two of the biggest stars in the world and easily the biggest of 2009 (Lady GaGa) will send it to number one in February. I have a feeling this will be bigger than Bad Romance. It could be the Poker Face of 2010!! I mean it charted at number 30 based on downloads of the album version alone - that is massive. Go GaGa!!
  16. all that i can say is... i pity the children who will wake up on christmas day to find joe's CD in their stocking... IMO the worst stocking filler of all time...
  17. put simply, though, the most popular song of any weeks is the song which is purchased the most. there is no arguing with facts. for the most part, people don't have much of a choice in what gets played on the radio, etc. so billboard does not fairly name the most popular track of the week.
  18. Firstly, it is highly unlikely that Joe daily physical sales for today or tomorrow will even come close to the 80,000 sold on Wednesday. Saturday... maybe. Joe's physicals were meant to be his strong point, but they only helped him out-sell RATM by 28,000 singles yesterday, so RATM keeps the lead. In addition... look at iTunes!! RATM is out-selling Joe by approximately 2.7:1, probably closer to 3:1 by now. Secondly, I cannot work out who would want Joe's single as a stocking filler!! I would much rather just download it, personally... £2.99 or £0.29... Hmm...
  19. bought rage, like it didn't buy joe, hate it (note - haven't bought any x factor songs, even ones i like)

this lead makes me so much more confident. think about it like this: iTunes makes up for about 80-90% of the chart. which is the equivalent of 80-90% of JOE'S sales. HOWEVER - taking multiple downloads into account, people are using other download sites, such as amazon and play, to purchase KITN. i reckon iTunes is making up... hmm... about 60-70% of the RATM sales?? either way, that lead is probably smaller (in relative terms) than any other download site. all that needs to happen is for this to continue!!
  21. agreed. US charts are so unreliable. they are in no way based on popularity. in the UK, you sell most, you go number one. in ireland, you sell most, you go number one. in every other country, you sell most, you go number one. in the US, you sell most, you might get number one, but it all depends if you get played in abundance on the radio!!
  22. clearly yesterday was joe's day for physicals. yesterday and saturday coming. unfortunately, out-selling KITN by only 28K is unlikely to make much of an impact. die-hard joe fans will have been queuing yesterday. purchases over the next few days will be lower for sure - likely to be more casual purchases, just people picking it up as they pass. saturday will be the big day. people are free to go and buy from HMV... but the rage group has in excess of 830,000 members. given about 200,000-300,000 will not stick up to their promise and many have downloaded it multiple times, i reckon about 150,000 members will have purchased the track by now. leaving around 300,000-400,000 to buy the track (as the multiple buyers WILL purchase it again on saturday - they are the die-hard rage fans!!), remembering, guys, that there is a RATM surge planned for saturday... a huge one. :D
  23. I have to say Bert, that you did make a rather general comment about RATM without having any prior knowledge of the situation whatsoever. You know nothing about RATM and if you did, you would realise that they won't have an album out in 2010!! In my opinion, the Joe McElderry fans are much worse than the RATM fans... They are so much more ready to attack people who buy KITN because it doesn't 'deserve' number one. Yes guys... Joe McElderry, having gone through four months of singing live with an abundance of publicity, truly deserves that number one spot(!). I don't care if any of the money from KITN goes to Simon Cowell, because the point of the group isn't to become an anti-Cowell campaign, it is to make the Christmas Number One race more exciting!! I don't care if RATM don't get that number one, because at least this week we have been held in suspense over who will get it!! Just to clarify, however... RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE - KILLING IN THE NAME for CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE!! (I can't stand the X Factor, moreso this year with that ridiculous new set-up - first auditions with an audience, then a Sunday Results Show!! First year I haven't watched it eagerly... and I thought Joe was more of a West End guy... Can't see him selling much!!)
  24. lady gaga is there anyone else?? with 3 #1s, most number ones of all time in a single year in the uk singles chart by a female
