Lady Gaga album first week sales
I know, but the point is, it isn't a chart of singles sales. Born This Way is the best-selling song of 2011 so far.

Lady Gaga album first week sales
On the UWC points system. A lot of points come from airplay. I'm fairly sure it has sold more than any other song so far this year.

Lady Gaga album first week sales
I know, but it would be a waste to do Europe without doing BGT and I'm sure her team will know that, given the opportunity they missed when Alejandro was climbing on iTunes and she didn't perform it on BGT.

how many lady gaga singles will be top 40 next week??
I think Marry The Night and You & I have a very good shot of Top 40. Both have hype behind them.

Lady Gaga album first week sales
The live finals are May 29th - June 4th and she's in Europe at that time :) Also, 3 hours after release on New Zealand iTunes she was: #3 (Special Edition) #56 (Standard Edition) Bear in mind, these were sales between 12 midnight and 3 am...

Lady Gaga album first week sales
I ADORE you for being realistic. I can see this album reaching 1.5million before the year is out. Hopefully she'll be on BGT, I'm sure she'll have chosen a single to perform on X Factor, which would allow her sales to continue during the Christmas period. I think this could do really will if she plans the promotion properly.

Again with these idiotic remarks. The songs are crap IN YOUR OPINION, and I can't change that. If the album was to reflect the critic response to the album it would do very well indeed. It's current score on Metacritic is 74/100 (with around half of the reviews in). Adele managed 75/100 with 21. I don't care if you don't like the music but don't come off with statements like that. Makes you look stupid.

Lady Gaga album first week sales
Her image is *weak in your opinion only. Critics have been positive about it. There is no way this album will flop, anyway, regardless of quality. There is just too much behind it and there are far to many die-hard fans to let it flop.

I'm sure they would have made sure it would count before setting up these partnerships though. They're going for sales; I think they'll have done their research.

She has an unbelievable promotional campaign though, including this: http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/225223_10150196619219574_10376464573_6664507_5967058_n.jpg The taxi promo strategy is, that if you show your copy of Born This Way to a taxi driver whose taxi has been painted like the one in this picture, you get a free ride. She has also teamed up with Starbucks; they'll be selling her album and playing it in-store and doing a sort of promotional game whereby you can collect codes and play online.

*In your opinion. Tracks like Government Hooker, Heavy Metal Lover and, in particular, Scheiße have received huge critical acclaim. Even (the VERY few) negative reviews noted especially Scheiße as a standout track.

Lady Gaga album first week sales
The single sales aren't included in the 23M  I don't believe the 23M figure though. 16.5M is the official number for TF, TFM and TFM (EP) combined, so I think 14M is a realistic number for total album sales. Still, I don't want to say 30M is impossible, because I don't think ANYTHING can happen, but I think this album will finish up with similar sales to TF.

Obviously the PRE-ORDER Chart positions are impossible to better, it's the OVERALL Chart positions that I find most interesting.

Lady Gaga album first week sales
It's very common in the USA, because promo singles are more prevalent there than in the UK. Taylor Swift's Mine went 9-21-14 or something like that on the week of the album release because of negative sales. I don't know if those are correct positions, but I know she was Top 10, fell out of Top 20, then climbed back into Top 15.

Lady Gaga album first week sales
As I said, 30m is an EXTREMELY ambitious target, but I think 10M should be easy enough with this album. I can't see Adele finishing with higher sales either.
-
Lady Gaga album first week sales
She's going on a worldwide promo tour. Her management are hoping for 30M worldwide, and while it may be far too ambitious, it is a target they hope to reach. She's planning promotion in countries like China and India in the hope of breaking the music markets there, while she has just reached huge levels of popularity in Japan (BTW was the first single in over a decade from an international artist to go top 10 on the Oricon chart, IIRC). She will promote in the UK too; she's back in the UK in June which should be around the time of BGT, which I hope she performs on. Then she has X Factor (France), Germany's Next Top Model, MTV Japan... This will be huge...

This post is perfect. Scheiße is her best song ever. It is the song that destroys discographies.

Scheiße is LIFE-GIVING. This is like her best song ever. Seriously. Scheiße > Bad Romance.

They're just promo singles. Katy, Ke$ha and Taylor Swift all had them too. It's just that GaGa's are a lot more popular because, well, it's GaGa. You can select 'Complete Album' next week and buy the album at a discounted price.

From HDD Born This Way's Unprecenteded Sales Campaign INTERSCOPE GOO GOO FOR GAGA Promotion for Born This Way Release Next Monday Includes Massive Retail Presence, Performances on American Idol, SNL, Letterman May 17, 2011 If it seems like Lady Gaga is everywhere next week, that’s because she is.The one-woman marketing machine is ready for an all-out blitz for the release of her new Interscope album, Born This Way, next Monday (5/23), with a comprehensive launch plan that includes shipping 2 million albums to a variety of retail outlets as well as a flurry of TV appearances. The unprecedented campaign is being orchestrated by the label’s sales and marketing guru Steve Berman and manager Troy Carter, and no stone has been left unturned. Among the 21,000 non-traditional retailers who will be carrying the album are pharmacies CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens, the latter with a circular ad, as well as Whole Foods, Costco, Nordstrom, Hot Topic, Radio Shack (with circular), Guitar Center, girl’s fashion chain Mandee’s, women’s clothing outlet Dots, Starbucks and a Gilt coupon promotion (an online Groupon-style discount offering). That’s in addition to a massive direct-to-consumer push. Gaga has been ubiquitous on some of TV’s most popular programs. She appeared as a mentor with Jimmy Iovine on last week’s American Idol, giving advice to the four finalists, and will perform on the show’s finale a week from Thursday (5/26). Gaga will also appear on this weekend’s final Saturday Night Live (5/21) featuring host Justin Timberlake. On day of release (5/23), Lady will be featured on The Late Show with David Letterman, with several morning show appearances also on tap. The title track to the album became the fastest selling single in iTunes history, selling one million copies in five days, when it was released in February. The fourth single from the album, "Hair," hit yesterday, following the title track, "Judas" and "The Edge of Glory.” Gaga hit Europe last week, performing briefly on the sidelines of the Cannes film festival, was the guest editor of the London-based global free newspaper Metro, appeared on Radio One and has teamed up with Zynga’s popular online social game Farmville to create Gagaville, stream select songs and offer special promotions. Starting today, Farmville players can access a Lady Gaga-branded farm decorated with themes from the “Born This Way” music video. Players can also unlock and stream one new song off the album per day between May 17 and 19. Between May 20 and 23, players can unlock and stream “a significant portion” of songs from the album. Non-Farmville Zynga players can also access Gaga-branded items through Rewardville to display across Cityville, Frontierville, Mafia Wars, Zynga Poker, Café World, Treasure Isle, Yoville, Petville, and Vampire Wars. The promotion continues with Zynga’s $25 game cards at Best Buy. Customers who purchase the card automatically receive an exclusive Gaga unicorn animal, a free download of the Born This Way album on street date, and the chance to win a pass to watch Lady Gaga tape her next music video. There is also a wide-ranging Yahoo campaign on tap. Early estimates of first-week sales range widely from 500k to 750k.
