iTunes Chart: February [III]
To be honest, while I usually completely disagree with the use of airplay in the BBHot100, I do think it is better than having 1 or 2 week #1s *all* the time. Only the really uber-popular songs can debut at #1 and I think it adds a bit more excitement to the chart.

The release of the video next week should help it maintain this position, as video plays are more heavily weighted than iTunes listens. Due to finding the Britney Spears albums from '...Baby One More Time' to 'In The Zone', she has stormed the Top 10 this week, two of which made the Top 5. 'Born to Make You Happy' sets a record points total for a #2 single with 107. 'Everytime' enters at #4. Despite a 13% points increase to 78, Ellie Goulding's 'Your Song' remains at #3. Ke$ha's 'We R Who We R' falls from #2 to #5 to complete the Top 5. Although expected to rise last week, Rihanna's 'S&M' remains at #6 for a second week with a 55% points increase. Elsewhere, 'Bad Romance' falls from #5 to #7 and Marina and the Diamonds becomes the highest climber within the Top 20, with 'I Am Not a Robot' moving from #14 to #8. Britney's third Top 10 entry this week comes in the form of 'Toxic' at #9. Thanks to an increase in video plays, Lady GaGa's 'Paparazzi' moves from outside the Top 20 to give her a third song in the Top 10. Diddy - Dirty Money's 'Coming Home' suffers the biggest drop within the Top 20, moving from #4 to #16. With '...Baby One More Time' and 'Crazy' debuting at #12 and #14 respectively, Britney finishes the week with a record 5 songs in the Top 20. Cheryl Cole's 'Promise This', Lady GaGa's 'Alejandro' and Norah Jones' 'Seven Years' all move into the Top 20 from the lower regions of the chart last week. Week-on-week, the total number of points in the Top 20 decreases slightly (down 4%) from 1131 to 1085. #1 SINGLES 18.2.2011 Lady GaGa - Born This Way - 475pts (i) 25.2.2011 Lady GaGa - Born This Way - 259pts (ii)

United World Charts (Singles + Albums)
The Global Track Chart is 70% sales and 30% airplay. Lady Gaga sold around 1.5M this week, with #2 at 1M+, but there was a huge airplay difference (#2 is Japan only, obviously). Furthermore... Born This Way broke Katy Perry's one week points record (556,000) by over 100k, with a points total of 688,000 this week. #2 also went over the previous record, with 575,000 points. The Global Album Chart is completely sales though.

iTunes Chart: February [III]
Glad to see BTW stabilise. Radio interviews and video should help next week :) Happy to see Adele at #1 (combined). I notice RITD is #1 on the World iTunes PopBars; it's amazing to see her have this sort of success.

iTunes Chart: February [III]
Not to mention those who called #1 in 14 countries a flop, hahaa.

iTunes Chart: February [III]
I like people who are diplomatic :) In brief conclusion - am I happy with Gaga's performance worldwide?? Yes. Apparently her world total this week is the highest ever since world tracking began in that format in 1999. Am I happy with Gaga's performance in the UK?? Yes and no. I'm glad her sales for a week would warrant #1, but I'm disappointed she's falling. I hope the video helps. I would have accepted this, but there were those who were saying it was underperforming worldwide because it wasn't #1 in most countries anymore, which is a bit ridiculous.
-
iTunes Chart: February [III]
I'm not making any crazy assumptions yet. I predicted Gaga would return with a UK #1 and, to be honest, if it was released on a Sunday, it would have been. But I'm fine that it didn't make #1, because, ultimately, it was #1 in America, which is what really counts. The video will obviously boost it, everything just depends on how big of a boost that is, but I'm satisfied with the success it has had in 2 weeks worldwide.
-
iTunes Chart: February [III]
I just can't at all these people saying Gaga is flopping because Madonna was #1 in more countries with Hung Up... Hung Up didn't go to #1 in all those countries in the first two weeks of release!! Give it time people!! It will be front-loaded, then stabilise, then hopefully increase with the video. Remember the Telephone scenario - top 15 -> #1!!
-
iTunes Chart: February [III]
The point is not the iTunes positions at present, as it is now two weeks since its release and no-one expected it to still be #1 worldwide. It built up a huge lead in all markets in the first few days and when the video is released it will begin to see an increase again. It is not a big flop. A song which sold 1M in 5 days is not a flop. Not to mention selling 957,000 in 10 days in the USA. Born This Way has been more instantly successful than any single Gaga has ever released and she is yet to promote properly (ie video, proper airplay kicking in, etc).
-
iTunes Chart: February [III]
No-one expected the song to #1 on 34 hours of sales. If she had the full week, she'd have beaten Adele easily.
-
iTunes Chart: February [III]
The Grammys cannot be considered serious promotion. I was off school at the time and I heard it discussed on Loose Women and that's about it. Apart from that, she hasn't been promoted at all.
-
iTunes Chart: February [III]
Gaga is *not* flopping. In the UK she isn't doing as well as many expected (although she would have with a full first week of sales), but the song is huge all over the world. It sold 1M in 5 days, for goodness sake, it can't be considered unpopular!! If you think after all the records the song has broken, you can't say she is overperforming. She debuted at #1 on the United World Chart with only 3 days of sales and hardly any airplay at all in those 3 days. THAT is amazing. The song will climb with the video. Actually, I should say, it will climb with the videoS, as there are to be two of them!! One will be a stripped back version!! :)

US iTunes Top 100 [NOV-APR 2011]
In your opinion. I think it's a strong first single, personally. On a separate note, Gaga is going to be the first since Clay Aiken in 2003 to debut at #1 and stay there for more than 1wk!! More than that, she's likely to be #1 next week as well!!

Either way, it's the biggest hit of the year so far worldwide.

Puh-lease. There is no proof whatsoever that Madonna did not send that email. Gaga HERSELF said on NATIONAL TV that she received it. I doubt she'd lie in front of millions. You have no proof. FACT.

Adele this week, Gaga next depending on when her video is released. Telephone proved how massively her videos push her sales.

Born This Way - Early Predictions
Actually, making predictions this early is exactly how TS broke 1M. The label hyped for ages that it would break 1M and more and more people became aware of the album, then *BAM!*. 1,000,000. By interesting comparison, Taylor's first album has the same certification as Gaga's. Both are 4xPlatinum - both over 4,000,000. I'm not doubting anything at the minute, to be honest.
