  1. Boris Johnson is apparently addressing his parliamentary party tonight at 5.30pm, although hasn't said what it's about. Rumours that he's either going to resign or call a General Election (cue Brenda from Bristol), although it is likely to be something a lot more dull.

The writing team also looks pretty great, including the co-creator of Futurama, plus people who've written for The Simpsons and people like Richard Herring, Al Murray & Matt Forde. Some of the voice talent are US-based, which means that it's likely to be trying to appeal to the US market as well as the British one. Hopefully this means that the revival is in safe hands.

Launches on BritBox on October 3rd, and they've released some images of some of the puppets - @1304337300998979584 Michael Gove is suitably grotesque (note the cocaine around the nose, which looks like a willy). Their Dominic Raab looks somewhat flattering to some extent. They've released the list of puppets, some of which are certain to cause a lot of controversy from all sides. I don't think it'll be as cruel as the original, but I think it will be as close to the knuckle as satire can go in 2020.
  4. There was, there was some controversy at the time that they purposely released the fact in advance so that the episode would eat into the ratings of the last episode of “One Foot In The Grave”.

New restrictions for Ballymena and Belfast (sarcastic yay!) from Monday, people will be unable to visit other people's houses bar the one you're in a social bubble with, travelling outside the zones is not advised unless necessary and outside gatherings in private gatherings are limited to 6 people. Although no changes to shops, restaurants and other places, which makes me think what's the point.
  6. Why has "Spirits" entered? It was my 2nd favourite song of 2016, has it been used somewhere? It really sounded like a hit at the time, so great to see it getting a wee bit of attention a few years down the line.
  7. I first heard "I'm Into Something Good" when it was used in a montage in one of my favourite films, The Naked Gun. A nice little pop song that's still a nice listen, even if it is very much of its time. "Dancing Queen" is of course a pop classic. I recently learned that MGMT hid a sample of the song in their song "Time To Pretend", only revealing last year that it was there. Thankfully Benny & Bjorn haven't sued, presumably because they have all the money.
  8. Enjoyed that one! Robert Smith has made a few great non-Cure collaborations, and this one's good as well. I think the chances of Gorillaz having a big hit are long past them, but this one would be a welcome addition.

Social gatherings of more than six people to be banned in England from Monday. Christmas will really be fun this year.

One of the reasons why I quit my job was because doing it has become nigh-on impossible the longer we've spent working from home rather than in the office together, so I would definitely welcome a return to the office once it is deemed safe to do so. However, it could turn out that we have to go into lockdown again and I'll have to work from home anyway, so more fool me then.
  11. I knew little about Tenet before I went to see it, and having come out of it, I know even less. Spent about an hour trying to talk through the logic of what happened in the film, but we still couldn't work out a lot of it. It felt like there was still a few dangling threads, but not sure if there's a sequel in the offing as Christopher Nolan doesn't normally do these, Batman aside.
  12. So it's due to perceived lack of musical quality rather than the actions of said individual? Although I do note that the other half of said collaboration does have some of the latter in their past.
  13. Why must thee not be named?
  14. Bill Bailey! Thought he'd be too big for this, but given that he hasn't been able to do his usual stadium tours this year, probably happy to take part. Don't think he'll get too far unless he's the Chris Ramsey of this series.
  15. Darn, I'm a day late. Room for a late one?
  16. "Connection" is of course fabulous.
  17. Didn't think Stereophonics were really Britpop, as I consider them more of a 00s band, although I guess their early stuff makes the cut.
  18. Nice to see "Trash" make it, although I think it'll be the only Suede one that make it (unless Beautiful Ones' streams get it into the list). Despite having so many top 10 hits, they weren't usually big sellers in the long run (a lot of their singles only spent 1 week in the top 10 at most).
  19. The version of "Trash" featured on their 2003 Singles collection features re-recorded vocals by Brett Anderson, so I'm guessing that it's that version that they ended up playing, which is a shame as his voice had declined a bit by then (although it's recovered since they reformed).
  20. I knew that RabbitFurCoat's entry was Islet as I bought their album on his recommendation when lockdown began. I think "Geese" works better in the context of the album rather than as a stand-alone track, but still good for a few points.
  21. Thanks for the points Jupiter. Looks like I might have just avoided being a bottom after all.
  22. Listening to the plug session made me realise how normal "Laura Jones" sounded compared to the other songs entered. I think it's great, but it's been a much stronger contest than it has in a while, so probably deserve the bottom placing that's more than certainly coming my way.
  23. "Classic J" felt like several different songs in one, none of which appealed to me.
