  1. I was interested to see who was responsible for the cheerbleederz song. They've been on my radar for a while, but didn't think many other people would have heard of them. I prefer "Cabin Fever" by them, but this one was decent as well.
  2. Yse, EGOISM was my entry. It's a shoegaze-y track, so it might have gone over a lot of people in this contest, plus it was the last song in the running order so might have been overlooked, which is why I believe it's in the bottom third. But gosh, I absolutely love it to pieces.
  3. Well if Iz wasn't behind the Tokyo Ghoul entry (still dazed that it was Chez responsible for it), then this would have been my 2nd guess.
  4. @1266806274123075584 It looks like a mixture of Cummings' undoing and Labour having a competent leader seems to be narrowing the gap. Labour will likely have a lead in opinion polls by the end of next month.
  5. Theory #1 - Paradoxically, I think the fact that it didn't compete in Eurovision could be the reason why it's had relative longevity after the contest. There's still a stigma again lots of people with Eurovision songs, and because it officially didn't take part in one, it doesn't have that link, unlike songs from prior years. Theory #2 - it's the "Gagnam Style" of 2020.
  6. Economic Left/Right: -2.63 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.26 Looks like I remain the wrong kind of centrist again. Really surprised that I’ve now moved into the libertarian axis, I’ve been in the authoritarian end all other times I’ve done this. I would echo that these compasses aren’t always accurate, if there was a don’t care option in between agree/disagree, I would have selected that option in quite a few questions.
  7. No new Corona deaths in Northern Ireland in the past 24 hours. That’s either good news for Northern Ireland, or bad news for the statistician who forgot to post his data and is going to be fired.
  8. Look out for "The Man Don't Give a F***" by Super Furry Animals on the chart in the next few days, there's a campaign to get it to #1 in light of recent events.
  9. Please let Andrew Neill be in hand to grill him...
  10. So who else had "comedian Milton Jones implies that he would welcome a military coup" in their 2020 bingo? @1264651607041548288

I was hoping someone would get that reference :D

Finished watching the final "to-date" series of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I enjoyed "Diamond Is Unbreakable" even though it wasn't as good as "Stardust Crusaders". It had a pretty creepy main villain, and once I got used to the change of pace, I quite enjoyed it. "Golden Wind" on the other hand was a bit of a let-down. How there could be a JoJo in this time period was even more convoluted than in "Stardust Crusaders" - In terms of ranking, "Stardust Crusaders" is my favourite, followed by "Diamond Is Unbreakable", "Battle Tendency", "Phantom Blood", then "Golden Wind". Will be interesting to see if/when "Stone Ocean" gets an anime made of it. Given the timing differences between the other series, the middle of 2021 is likely.

Great stuff, it will keep the riff-raff away from BBC4.
  14. That's grand, wouldn't think that would be the case. Whilst I can't speak on behalf of Great Britain, I've no problem with Northern Ireland pursuing a different strategy to the rest of the UK. Given its unique space within the union, and given that it's both on a different island and much more rural and densely populated than the rest of the UK (even in the bigger cities like Belfast or Derry), it makes more sense for us to take a different approach. Interestingly, although we've opened up much quicker than a lot of the rest of the UK, we've opened up a little bit slower than in the Republic of Ireland (complete harmonisation on an all-Ireland approach would have been a political hot-potato), but are closer to its approach than to GB at the moment.
  15. A few more restrictions have been eased in Northern Ireland. Groups of up to 6 people can now meet up outside (although still within social distancing guidelines), places of worship can open for private prayer, and golf & tennis can resume. Drive-in cinemas are also allowed, but I'm not aware of such a thing here, so is a bit of a moot point.
  16. Entered. Presuming someone hasn't beaten me to the punch, I think it might do not too bad.
  17. From the BBC: Whilst I can understand laws against banning the desecration of your own country's flag (even if I don't necessarily agree with it myself), making it illegal to burn other country's flags seems taking things a bit too far. And it seems quite odd that it's illegal to defile a song - does that mean if you sing "Ode To Joy" with parody lyrics, you could be found guilty and jailed? There's probably more to the law than in the new article, but even so it seems quite extreme. Do you think that flag burning should be a criminal offense?
  18. They also announced at the same time that they would ease restrictions to allow weddings where at least one of the people has a terminal illness from Monday. As for regular weddings, I wouldn't bet on it this summer, although by autumn it should be on the cards. I'm due to go to a wedding in Donegal in September, so I hoping that things have eased off by then.
  19. Northern Ireland will be taking its first steps towards easing the lockdown, allowing garden centres & recycling centres to reopen from Monday. Given that I have no need to use either of those (although I could've used the latter during the month where the council refused to pick up my recycling bins), it will still be business as usual for me.
  20. Northern Ireland announced its plans in the past hour. No immediate changes for now, and a timetable for reopening has been announced, although with no firm dates for when this is to happen.
  21. Some of the countries that had eased its restrictions have had to reverse course following a fresh batch of infections, notably South Korea, which has had to shut down over 2000 clubs that re-opened after a COVID-19 positive club-goer was almost single-handedly responsible for every new case in the country the next week.
  22. Fabulous to see "In The Mood" by Glenn Miller in the Top 40, it remains a bop even now.
  23. After it was pointed out that Britney Spears has had 5 #2 albums in the UK chart without a #1 album (including her Greatest Hits collections), is she the artist who's had the most albums to chart at this position without ever hitting the top spot?
  24. Whilst the dial hasn't moved much in terms of the main parties, the polling for Keir Starmer himself should give something for Labour to cheer about. His net favourability after one month in the job is +18, which is much better than the -51 that Jeremy Corbyn finished off with (and whose net favourability rarely went above 0). It is worth pointing out that the same poll gave Boris Johnson's net approval rating of +20, so he's within touching distance of being the most popular politician by this scale.
  25. Ooh, fabulous. Will have to get my thinking hat on.
