  1. I think the highest he'd been before now was just about in the Top 40 with "Must Be Santa", unless one of his classics made it in after being reduced to 59p.

The Konosuba film is now on Crunchyroll, which is worth watching if you enjoyed the series, especially if your favourite character is Megumin, as she's the main focus of it.

Subway is closing from today, including for deliveries. In wondering how many other places that we expected to pivot to deliveries over the next few weeks will also do the same.

Well, for all of us who were worried that we'd all gain lots of weight as a result of the social isolation, that's some positive news.

I'm starting to thing that we're only a few days away from serious lockdown in the UK if people don't get their act together ie army on the streets, no leaving the house except for shopping or if you're a key worker, ID card giving you permission to leave your home, that sort of thing.

And people laughed at me when I said that this Conservative government would be the most economically left-wing in history. Admittedly, I didn’t realise that 3 months in we would have a BLOODY PLAGUE to deal with, but still.

Last night in Upper Stoke, we had what's likely to be the last by-election for several months. It was a Labour hold, with turnout a minuscule 9%.

There's been a suggestion that Westminster should administer an extraordinary National Government of Unity, similar to WW1 or WW2, on the basis that such draconian measures shouldn't be left in the hands of just one party. Whether or not Labour, the SNP, or other less relevant parties will agree to that, or even if the Tories will even allow it, remains to be seen, but I can see the logic behind it.
  9. @1240641478575230976 Interesting that Opinion Polling is still continuing after everything that's happened, but that's a side note. More than half of those responding now supportive on the Conservatives(!). Although I imagine at the moment things are quite volatile, and if you were to poll people tomorrow they could be 10 points down.

Things just got a little bit closer to home for me, as my brother & his girlfriend are now in the 2 week self isolation period after one of them developed a cough. He lives in a different city so I'm not under quarantine at the moment.

As expected, the Belfast Marathon has now been postponed to September. That's 3 months of training that are now going to go to waste. Still, looking on the bright side, I've now beaten my own personal record of longest distance run in 1 go (16 miles).

The Craigavon 3/4 marathon I was due to do in April is now postponed. It would've been the last big test before the marathon in May, so I'm disappointed by that. On the plus side, it means that I no longer need to go to Craigavon.

Yes, the St Patrick's Day run was cancelled last week, and I'm pretty sure we'll get confirmation on the Belfast Marathon being cancelled later on today.

If the next stage of containment comes in to force, where you can only go out for "essentials", I'm not sure if going for a run falls under that category. There's already a mini-backlash starting against runners meeting up for outdoor races, even if they're well below the >500 threshold that has been largely agreed upon, so wouldn't want to the stir the pot in relation to that. I'll still go out for runs on my own until such a time that I'm advised not to.

My gym has announced that it's closing for the next two weeks, which means no personal trainer. Not sure if I'll be able to run outside for a few weeks either, which means that if rationing does indeed happen, I'll be very much glad of it.

The Republic of Ireland has closed all its pubs, two days before St Patrick's Day. That's how real things have got.

My understanding is that in our parish, the priest & a few celebrants will still carry out the Mass, with the faithful being able to stream it online if they so wish.

Catholics in my diocese (and across Ireland) have been dispensed from going to Sunday Mass for the next few weeks, so will be web-camming Mass for a few weeks, and no Eucharist. :(

There were 7 local by-elections last night. 2 interesting changes - the Conservatives lost a seat in Cambridge to the Liberal Democrats, whilst Labour lost a seat in Manchester to an independent candidate. Cambridge electing a Lib Dem isn't a surprise, although Labour losing one in Manchester is slightly more so, and even more interesting it wasn't to a different party. Plaid Cymru also gained a seat in Wrexham from an independent.
  20. I knew this would be the year that Suede were our entry!
  21. "Rise & Fall" by Craig David samples "Shape of My Heart" by Sting, and he appears in the music video (and is a featured artist as well).

Not the most exciting cour for me, alongside the continuing series Chihayafuru, Welcome To Demon School, Iruma-kun & My Hero Academia, I've been watching the new series of volleyball series Haikyu!! (still annoyed they changed its bumpers), and the stylistically different ghost story Hanako-kun and Interspecies Reviewers.
  23. Nicola Roberts was a worthy winner, and surprised that Jason Manford ended up being Hedgehog - even though everyone on Twitter was adamant it was him, I still thought it could have been Michael Ball. I didn't realise he had such a great voice! And I must say that despite my scepticism before it was announced, I congratulate ITV on the casting being genuinely impressive, with a mix of bone-fide global stars like Cee-Lo, Kelis & Katherine Jenkins, some singers you wouldn't expect to to a show like this like Skin or Justin Hawkins, as well as a few surprising non-singers like Teddy Sherringham & the former Home Secretary. Given that they got a cast this decent before the show was even a hit, it gives me hope that the standard of celebrity on the next series will be on a par with it, or better.
  24. Bob Dylan has 10 top 20 hits without a #1 (which surprises me, as I thought he’d have more than that)
  25. The general public exhibiting unexpected good taste.
