The charts shouldn't be trying to manipulate the industry, they should reflect it.

The new chart rules are like saying Roger Federer shouldn't have been allowed to win Wimbledon for the 8th time today because he's already won it 7 times and should give someone else a chance.

The Script's new track sounds like the perfect mix of Shape Of You and Despacito. I do quite like it but its a shame too see so many bands of their type making very generic sounding music nowadays.

Have we had any more information about Lily Allen's new album? It says June above in the coming soon section but that has been and gone.

Feels is only going to be a hit because it's a Calvin Harris track, you could replace Katy or Pharrell with any other singers and it would make practically no difference. It's a bit like saying Leona Lewis is relevant again because she had a number one hit with the Grenfell Tower track.

But the chart should be a fair and actual representation of what is being downloaded and streamed. I don't like how tracks sit at number one on the top 10 for months on end but if a song sells/is streamed more than another song then the chart should reflect that. The main issue as you have alluded to is artists getting placements on spotify and having their songs repeated all day on radio. Perhaps they need to be willing to push fresher tracks quicker.

Really solid sales for Royal Blood for their second week.

This was always going to be the problem when they added streaming into the chart. They should just have separates charts for paid purchases and streaming. Constantly changing the rules and ratios because they aren't getting the chart they want is stupid.

I think Despacito will be number one easily. Despacitio is streaming more than three times higher than Grenfell and the gap is closing fast on iTunes.

Lorde had one huge hit and that was it, it's not like she had several major hits from her first album. I'm not too surprised by her relative underperformance.

I guess the strategy was to get another single out quickly, at the expense of Bon Appetit climbing further, to try and get more interest in the album but that seems to have not made much difference.

I don't think people are saying the album is bad but if you release three very underwhelming singles to push the album then fewer people are going to rush out to buy the album to hear what else is on it. And I think Katy is very reliant on big singles to push album sales, she doesn't have the type of fanbase who will rush out first week and buy her album regardless.

At the end of the day, if Katy had released another Roar it would have been a huge hit. If after Chained To The Rhythm. she had a released another Dark Horse instead of Bon Appetit it would have been a huge hit. The tracks she has released just have not been good enough.

Not too surprised Katy is flopping in terms of her previous standards. Her singles so far have been well below her previous standard. I've always thought her fanbase is pretty weak for an artist of her reputation. I just dont see her having that many committed fans who will keep buying her records when the quality dips.

Wow, those lyrics are filth. Trying to get back to vaguely on topic, they dont need act raunchy in every video or performance they do or have such explicit lyrics. It seems they are trying to be as sexualised as possible for attention but they sell a lot of records because people like their music rather than "sex selling".

The figures look off to me. Despacito sold 130,000 units last week, 70,000 from streams alone. It''s obviously not going to be selling anything like that amount this week but the drop off just seems too big considering its still doing very well on streams.
