Not 100% sure of this. Mariah is back to #1 on Christmas Hits with Wham! now #4. Dean Martin and Kelly should benefit at #2 and #3. Unfortunately Chris Rea has been moved back down massively after being briefly moved near the top yesterday.

Chris Rea up to #10 on Spotify Wham! held on yesterday but it was very close. Suspect Mariah will overtake in tomorrows update

Go on Dakota! Not too fussed about Tom missing out given he’s made it the last 4 years

1 week we think. No new entries as expected. Will see on Friday what has made way for Mariah and Wham! How’s the danger zone looking Julian?

How ACR has affected the #1 spot
Difficult to say. Streaming numbers at the top of the Spotify chart were very low throughout Covid until Christmas came along, but the depth of the numbers improved so more people were using the platform it was just “popular” music wasn’t getting streamed as much and the diversity increased. Everyone listens to Christmas music however so that increase in users was potentially only shown at the top of the chart at Christmas. However I know for me personally and lots of others I know, we listened to more Christmas music and earlier in 2020 cos of how terrible the year was. So to answer your question I think a bit of both.

Thanks for confirming. That means no Wednesday update either and I retract my comment from yesterday. Makes Friday more exciting tho!

I reckon she could still fraud #1 if Amazon report Christmas Day numbers and other platforms don’t

Mariah back ahead of Brenda. Pogues getting hit hard today and big jump for Dean Martin following move up to #2 on Christmas Hits. Wham! only down 8.5% year on year

Friday Chart Predictions
Would easily clear Kelly, Ariana and Bobby Helms given it already matches them with garbage playlisting. No real way of knowing if it would get close to Mariah/Brenda. Wham! definitely out of reach imo.

Songs of the decade
Mr. Brightside has done a bit worse this year than last but Last Christmas is doing even worse relatively speaking so the Killers are favourites for the moment imo

I don’t see why we shouldn’t get a Wednesday update. Christmas Eve is a normal working day really.

This also has some caveats right cos you’d technically have to disqualify Blinding Lights as it came out in December 2019

Yeah Spotify have been pushing Holly Jolly Christmas a lot this year, it’s been as high as #1 on Christmas hits. Last couple of years they’ve stopped pushing Bublé’s version of It’s Beginning… and instead given better playlisting to Perry Como

Songs of the decade
Maybe they’ll make up some rules to make it more representative because I can’t see them proclaiming Mr. Brightside and Last Christmas as the two biggest songs of the 2020’s. Guess we’ll find out in 4 years

Songs of the decade
I have a list which I’ll update at the end of the year but Blinding Lights is #1 and Bad Habits is #2. By the end of the decade Mr. Brightside will probably be #1 which makes me think the OCC might not bother with publishing the list
