Mariah back ahead of Brenda. Pogues getting hit hard today and big jump for Dean Martin following move up to #2 on Christmas Hits. Wham! only down 8.5% year on year

Friday Chart Predictions
Would easily clear Kelly, Ariana and Bobby Helms given it already matches them with garbage playlisting. No real way of knowing if it would get close to Mariah/Brenda. Wham! definitely out of reach imo.

Songs of the decade
Mr. Brightside has done a bit worse this year than last but Last Christmas is doing even worse relatively speaking so the Killers are favourites for the moment imo

Friday Chart Predictions
I don’t see why we shouldn’t get a Wednesday update. Christmas Eve is a normal working day really.

Songs of the decade
This also has some caveats right cos you’d technically have to disqualify Blinding Lights as it came out in December 2019

Yeah Spotify have been pushing Holly Jolly Christmas a lot this year, it’s been as high as #1 on Christmas hits. Last couple of years they’ve stopped pushing Bublé’s version of It’s Beginning… and instead given better playlisting to Perry Como

Songs of the decade
Maybe they’ll make up some rules to make it more representative because I can’t see them proclaiming Mr. Brightside and Last Christmas as the two biggest songs of the 2020’s. Guess we’ll find out in 4 years

Songs of the decade
I have a list which I’ll update at the end of the year but Blinding Lights is #1 and Bad Habits is #2. By the end of the decade Mr. Brightside will probably be #1 which makes me think the OCC might not bother with publishing the list

Friday Chart Predictions
Wham! were #10 on Spotify on Friday 27th last year which was a normal working day so I think they will

Top 100 Most Streamed Songs Of The 70s/80s/90s in the UK in 2025
My expectations of the OCC are extremely low so doesn’t surprise me it’s been missed. Would guess it’s in the 15-25 section

This has got to be a mistake, it has 25 million on Spotify alone this year on weeks it’s been in the top 200.

Wow at Silver Springs being that high. As always with these lists Christmas songs seem to be excluded

How ACR has affected the #1 spot
Christmas music didn’t really start doing insane streaming numbers until after Covid in 2020, before then the numbers were big but not the crazy domination we see today.

Down over 10% compared to the equivalent Friday last year. Brenda actually overtook Mariah on this Friday last year

As predicted Wham! are #1 on Friday’s global Spotify chart for the first time ever! 300k ahead of Mariah

Looking good for MUTT to hold on I think

Wham! 25k away from #1 on the global chart. Moved down to #3 on Christmas Hits but still ahead of Mariah, surely #1 for the first ever time in tomorrow’s update. Also this is the Pogues best performance in Spotify for a while. Close to being the 4th highest Christmas song is fantastic for them.

Can’t wait for Iris and Mr. Brightside in the top 10!

Wham always do better and better compared to Mariah as Christmas gets closer. Happens every year

No it’s just been moved to #1 on Christmas hits with Mariah down to #6

Friday Chart Predictions
Mariah’s label asked for a reset in 2019 and were denied, I know a lot has changed since then but it does seem to be the one rule the OCC consistently uphold. Maybe with the exception of Band Aid? Can’t remember if they got a reset last year. EDIT: ignore second paragraph, already answered by Gasman above
