Predict number of Xmas songs in the final chart of 2024
I think 37 is the obvious answer so that’s what I’ve gone for.

Brenda is now #1 on Christmas Hits with Laufey up to #5

Apple: #121 SZA - Snooze #185 SZA & Kendrick Lamar - 30 for 30 #156 Sam Ryder - You’re Christmas to Me #163 Band Aid - Do They Know It’s Christmas? (2024 Ultimate Mix) Even with the Christmas songs, that seems like a slow start for SZA

Estimated ACR status updates 2024
It would go to ACR technically but spend zero weeks on ACR as it would be reset back to SCR again before the first chart in January. Also it’s APT. not ATP.

Looking at the weekly Spotify chart this week it’s interesting to note that despite all the Christmas songs, the top 200 cutoff is actually lower now than at some points earlier in the year.

15 new tracks (although Saturn was already released) plus the whole of SOS tagged onto the end - will obviously be combined in the album chart. Not sure how well it will do on streaming, presumably the track with Kendrick will be the biggest.
-
Streaming Services Chart Discussion
Some of that is probably due to it being moved up to #1 on Christmas Hits yesterday. Underneath the Tree is now #1. Will be interesting to see what they put at #1 on Christmas Eve and Day - If they put Brenda at #1 she could overtake Mariah officially imo

Yes I think Adele’s weekly streaming record will be broken. I expect Wham! to do 12 mil plus next week

2024 Singles Year To Date Estimates
It’ll be like when positions missed out in 2020 after spending 6 weeks at #1 and then made it (although only just) in 2021. I imagine That’s So True will be top 20 next year tbh.

Idk what’s happened to Chris Rea especially on Spotify, I remember he was comfortably top 10 a few years ago and I think he even has a daily peak of #4

I mean it’s very clear that Spotify has a lot of power to manipulate songs positions, for example when random old songs randomly jump from outside the top 200 to near the top 50 for a couple of weeks before disappearing - that’s clearly manufactured and not due to people actively seeking them out.

Thanks Julian, and as ever for this information every week. Something in the Orange must not have dropped off as much as I thought based on Spotify.

2024 Singles Year To Date Estimates
I agree that KEHLANI vs. 360 could go either way. I attempted to work out an estimate for Bye Bye Bye a while ago and I’d guess it’s somewhere between 350k and 380k for the year.

2024 Singles Year To Date Estimates
Summer of '69 and As It Was are very hard to estimate so I could be off on them. It's also possible that Dial Drunk is above ILYIS and leavemealone is below, Dial Drunk is another one that's tricky. Feather I was helped out with as its total sales were in a report the other week.

On the Spotify YTD, Stick Season already has the second highest ever total (only behind Shape of You, which it won't catch), so interesting to see it's gonna end up well behind Blinding Lights and Someone You Loved's Official YE totals.

They seem to be changing the order of Christmas Hits every day. Jingle Bell Rock now #1, the Pogues moved even lower.

That’s a few thousand higher than I thought 360 was. Maybe it can make it after all. Wham! next week for sure, I think Mariah might not make it until the last week tbh. Also I’m amazed that I Remember Everything hasn’t been able to repass I Can Do It with a Broken Heart.

They can’t have been. Surely she’d be ahead of Kelly and the Pogues if they had

It’s a glitch - I think White Christmas’s streams are going to that in the chart for some reason. One day it was showing up as White Christmas the next day as Hey Santa Claus with the movement based on White Christmas’ position the previous day

They’ve messed with the order of Christmas Hits again. Santa Tell Me is now #1 in what I can only assume is some sort of joke

Brenda ahead of Mariah is crazy. They’ve changed the order of songs on Christmas hits yesterday, Sabrina’s been moved up to #5 and I assume McCartney must have been moved up too. Elton and the Pogues seem to have been moved down.
